Dr. Arabinda Meher is currently working as a Manager (R&D) at the Centre for Innovation & Technology Excellence (CITE), Titan Company Limited (Jewellery Division) Hosur. Before joining Titan, he was working as an Assistant Professor (Research) at the University Centre for Research and Development, Chandigarh University Mohali, Panjab for around 1 year. He received his Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, in August 2022. His doctoral research was on "Synthesis and manufacturability of TiB2 reinforced magnesium RZ5 alloy based in-situ metal matrix composites". During his Ph.D., he was awarded a fellowship by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He received his master's degree (M.Tech.) from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology Rourkela, and his bachelor's degree (B.Tech.) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University Bhubaneswar. After his master's, he worked for 1.5 years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Gandhi Institute for Technological Advancement (GITA Autonomous College) Bhubaneswar.
Dr. Meher's research objective is to provide engineering solutions and cutting-edge technology to the manufacturing industries that can be useful for society. His research interest includes the synthesis of different alloys and composites for potential automobile and aerospace applications. He has hands-on experience in synthesizing metal matrix composites using both solid-state and liquid-state processing. He is proficient in conducting the metallographic study of the materials using an optical microscope, FESEM, and XRD and mechanical testing like hardness, tensile strength, impact strength, and wear behavior. He has software knowledge of Pro-E (CREO), Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD. His research work is focused on the manufacturability of aluminum and magnesium alloy-based metal matrix composites (MMCs), which includes microstructural and mechanical characterization, tribological behavior, machinability, and solid-state weldability of materials. Based on his skill, he is currently putting efforts into providing cutting-edge technical solutions and state-of-the-art innovation to the gold jewellery manufacturing industry.
