  2. Systems Mapping with Network Analysis

Root Change presents the DPMI Development Challenge:

Root Change is working with the MacArthur Foundation and USAID Local Works to support new alliances committed innovative, collaborative initiatives that reduce poverty, advance voice and accountability of citizens and ensure social inclusion of traditionally under-served groups. We are soliciting formal proposals in the form of fifteen minute PowerPoint presentations. The winning collaborative initiatives will receive up to two million dollars for a three year design and pilot program.

The most competitive proposals will incorporate, along with the themes of sustainability and inclusion, one or more of the following: locally led development, positive deviance, new web-based and mobile phone technologies, networking, new or expanded grassroots coalitions, community foundations, remittances from diaspora communities, human and organizational capacity building.

Presentations should attempt to answer the following questions:

What is the big idea? Describe the problem and the disruptive solution you propose.

  • To what extent does the approach address systemic problems and prioritize local solutions?
  • To what extent does the partnership organize members according to their comparative advantages?
  • To what extent does the partnership bring promising innovations to new or existing beneficiary groups?

For the assignment, prepare a PowerPoint presentation with no more than 8 - 10 slides.
