Use of NON ORIGINAL audio-visual material in the Film Portfolio - source "DP Film Guide, Oct 2022"
Students are expected to be the creators of the vast majority of audio-visual materials submitted for the film portfolio assessment task. Students are, however, where deemed necessary by their filmmaker intentions, permitted to submit some non-original materials within their film reels to accompany their own original work.
Non-original materials are defined as any audio, visual or written materials that are not originally created by the DP film student themselves, or that are not created through collaboration with other students in the school.
In the film portfolio, non-original materials may be used within a student’s chosen film production role and/ or used outside of their chosen film production role. All non-original materials used in a student’s film reel must be appropriately acknowledged, following the protocol of the referencing style chosen by the school. Any non-original materials that are not recorded in the submitted list of sources will be treated as a potential breach of academic honesty regulations and will be investigated by the IB. This may result in a penalty being imposed by the IB final award committee.
Students choosing to use non-original materials within a specific film production role must explain how the non-original materials have been creatively integrated into their work in the body of the portfolio pages.
