Elizabeth McQueen has been a painter, print-maker photographer and arts educator for over forty years. Whether capturing reflections on the journey to her northern studio, southwest of North Bay or responding to seasons passing around her ‘winter retreat’ outside of Dundas Ontario, her painterly work has always been about the bones of the land.

Sometimes, man’s interface with nature - as steel cuts through rock passes - provides the underpinnings of her work. At other moments, it is the energy of ever changing light in skies and water that bring form to her emotionally charged strokes on canvas.

McQueen’s work is inevitably about spirit, wonder, and love for this magnificent land. Moments in time and light are captured and then reframed as meditations... sometimes tumultuous ...sometimes serene.. but always with an eye on the horizon and what might next be revealed.

Rick was a secondary school teacher for more than thirty years, spending much of that time as the head of a special art program. He was the program’s designated “Swiss Army Knife” and had the opportunity to teach many specialty courses (and sub skills) including drawing and painting, sculpture, cartooning, interior design, pottery, graphic design, printmaking, illustration, animation, and traditional chemical as well as digital photography.

Retired today, Rick spends as much time as possible prowling trout streams with a fly rod in one hand and a waterproof camera in the other. Combining this interest with his passion for playing with paint, has led him to working with landscape.

Over my working career, I have constantly produced art. Most of these works were illustrations, cartoons, airbrushing, and layout and design in nature. Now that I am retired from teaching I have the opportunity and time to paint for the sheer joy of it. I am certainly looking forward to getting back to my artistic roots, as it were. Paint was my first love and it is so very nice to get back in touch with a brush.
