I was hoping to reply to @nullcatchems about his question regarding Wave Browser. I'll post that reply below, but first I will introduce myself! I am dconrad97, and I enjoy malware research and analyses. I currently work in the cybersecurity field and I am working towards picking up CASP+ and maybe (just maybe) GREM someday. Moving on to the important stuff, here is what I was going to reply to @nullcatchems (and I will reply directly to that thread if I am able to after posting here).

Thanks for the input. It is kind of a bummer that companies result to tactics like this and we cannot just block download.wavebrowser.co if they have injected the download into doodle.com's exe or vlc. We don't allow users to manage extensions in their browsers since our image is carefully managed and anything that requires an exe needs an admin password. We will continue to monitor the situation and will post if I have any other updates.

We are only interested in the report (log), where possible cool will be carried out by script.

Click on the menu "AVZPM" >> "Install extended monitoring driver".

This driver will have its importance in the detection by rootkit. (AVZ-RK Kernel Driver)

In the "Search parameters" tab, set Heuristic analysis to "Maximum heuristics mode".

Check the "Extended analysis" box.

Under Winsock Service Provider, check all the boxes.

Hi Guys and Gals! I hope this is the right place to ask... I had a user install a Chromium-based browser called Wave Browser (by Wavesor Software). I've never heard of it. A quick web search didn't yield many results. It could not be uninstalled either. I'm guessing malware?!? Has any one heard of this browser?

And this same damn Wave Browser f"Start" link popped up on the PicPick download site too! So either they've infested that too,or maybe it's just my computer that's infested with it somehow. But as I said above, I'm using a brand new Lenovo, and I've only started running the computer since a bit after noon today. Of course, there's the fact that it came with Windows 11 in S mode. And the dire warnings from Microsoft that taking it out of S Mode (an irreversible process) would make Windows vulnerable to malware and glitches that they'd give me no help with. After researching for a while, I took it out of S mode anyway this morning, mostly based on a PC World article that said the warnings were just normal Microsoft corporate scare tactics to keep people enslaved to the Microsoft Store. But wham, the first thing is this stupid Wave Browser on every download site I visit? That's a damn fast infection by any malware. It seems way more likely that it's out there, on your site as well as others.

For true malware, absolutely. However the majority of cases oh suspected malware are just bad installations. Ie the application has a folder named dlls. But it is searching for its dlls in a folder called DLL. The fix is to duplicate the dlls folder to DLL.
