The automatic playback control manages whether your voicemail automatically plays a new message once you dial into your voicemail system, or if you want to be prompted by the system to listen to your messages.

I switched from Verizon to Xfinity about a month ago (BYOD Pixel 2). Until today, I did not realize that I am not being provided with notifications when a voicemail is received, or any way to listen to voicemails, through the standard Android voicemail app. I have to manually dial in to see if I have any voicemails and to listen to them (several were missed over the last few weeks). What am I missing in order to have this function as it always has in the past?

I have a Pixel 3a (BYOD - moved from Verizon), and just moved to Xfinity Mobile today, and I am not receiving any voice mail notifications either. I see missed call notifications, but nothing for voice mails. When I access the "Voicemail" option under the Phone app, it says "your voicemail box is empty." I've left myself at least 3 messages! Was there resolution that you can post? Thanks!

So, she did what she needed to on her end and directed me to reset the network settings, power down, power back on, and within a few minutes, the message in the voicemail part of the Phone app went from "Visual Voicemail not set up" to "Visual Voicemail activating" and I got a message that my pin had been changed. Then the voicemail app prompted me to set a new pin, I did, and voila, everything works great, including the notifications and the transcription.

I made one adjustment from the Google link above and just got my first transcribed voicemail alert! I see ComcastChrisL also PMed me back a couple of days ago so I'm assuming he made the corresponding Xfinity-side changes. Sounds like that combination of adjustments is the solution.

I was on the phone with first level support for about an hour but of no use. When it was escalated to next level, it was solved in 10 minutes. First, she removed my voice mail from the system, then she made me do a Settings>Reset> Reset Network Settings. Then she turned on the voicemail back on. We tested it by her leaving a voicemail for me. Immediately the notification showed up and no error message from Verizon.

@iphone_colorado I also have this issue since I switched to Xfinity earlier this year. I chatted with a tech who had me reset my network settings. Other than screwing up a whole bunch of other stuff, it did nothing for my voicemail notifications. I'm still not getting any. But I had to pair my phone with my car's bluetooth again, and all sorts of wi-fi connections that had been saved went away. I dealt with that for over a week. And I'm still not getting voicemail notifications, so I've started checking VM once a day whether I need to or not. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 and was previously with another MVNO that also used the Verizon network, so I didn't foresee this problem. And I also now always have to enter my password when I call VM, which I didn't have to before, even after switching to Xfinity. Any suggestions? I dread having to chat or call Xfinity again.

So I'm a new customer who took advantage of the last promotion and got a new phone with Xfinity mobile for a steep discount. When I called to get assistance with setting up my visual voicemail, I was told that Xfinity doesn't support visual voicemail on the pixel 7?! Is that true or was the tech misinformed?

Honestly, I feel cheated that during the entire process it was never mentioned that the phone they advertised wasn't fully compatible with their network and that visual voicemail wouldn't be available. I honestly would have picked a different phone or network.

I am a new Xfinity Mobile customer and ported my number from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile. Apple's Visual Voicemail is not working, it prompts me to call the voicemail box. I went to the Xfinity store for help, but they sent me to the Apple store. The Apple store told me they cannot fix this problem and that I must go back to Xfinity to get help.

Thank you for the suggestion @DaveO3, I spoke with Tier 2 support this afternoon. She said, "the voicemail feature code is incorrect, I will have to revise it." She said she also reprovisioned the voicemail. Visual Voicemail still was not working after powercycling the phone. I had to get back to work so I ended the call.

The chat support person relayed a message from Tier 2, "I have updated the correct voicemail feature! I had to reset the voicemail so the temporary voicemail pin is #### the client can update the voicemail pin in the voicemail app. The client had an android voicemail attached to their apple device so I added the proper feature in rssx."

The voicemail app said, "No voicemails" instead of "Call voicemail" after I restarted the phone. Chat support had me dial *86 and enter the temporary pin to see if that would work and it did. I had 11 voicemail messages. About 5 minutes later, I saw two voicemail messages listed in the voicemail app, so it looks like they were finally able to fix my problem.

Namely, when the phone is on lock screen (whether manually or automatically initiated), the voicemail audio alert (my main concern) and visual notification tend to be extremely tardy. The delay is quite variable, but can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours. 1-5 hours delay is typical. If, during that delay, the phone comes out of sleep for any other reason -- whether getting a text notification (*those* always work fine), a call coming in, or simply my picking up the phone -- the vm alert will immediately sound/appear.

One oddity I should note: When the phone is plugged in (i.e., charging), the vm audio alert and screen notifications always come promptly, within a few minutes of the voicemail being recorded. Keeping it plugged in is obviously not a practical solution, but does this behavior help point to possible underlying issue(s) that can be addressed?? I would really like to avoid doing a full reset (and I doubt that would help, anyway).

Thanks for the reply. I've tried a network reset several times in the past, but tried again last night, and since then have tested about ten times by leaving voicemails from a different phone (not Xfinity Mobile) while my iPhone 6s is asleep (and NOT charging). (I've ignored trials that get cut short by a live call or text coming in, in which case -- as described above -- the voicemail alert always sounds and appears when the phone is awoken.)

The results so far are familar from past attempts. The alert timing is improved *somewhat* for maybe a week, with the delay range moving from the "10 minutes to 10 hours" range cited above to more like "5 minutes (i.e., normal) to 2 hours." That's what I appear to be seeing again thus far with this latest network reset, based on 10 voicemail tests I've done since resetting. There's no discernable pattern, e.g., one vm alert can sound in 10 minutes, the next in 75 minutes, the next in 30 minutes, the next in 7 minutes and the next in 90 minutes.

Thanks for following up. Have you noticed any delays with any other type of notification on your iPhone or is the issue isolated to voicemail? I assume you are on the latest version of iOS 12, is that right? I think the latest version of iOS 12 is 12.4.

If you were experiencing issues with not receiving voicemail, that could point to the features on your mobile service line. I can always look into the features and make sure that everything looks as it such on my end.

I expect voicemail notifications to sometimes take one or 10 hours and I understand that the only reliable way to know if you have a voicemail is to call voicemail direct via your own phone number or *86/whatever. I understand this is the case across all cell carriers, all cellphones.

But this seems inconsistent with the fact the voicemail alert will sound reliably, within a few minutes of the voicemail being left, if for any reason I pick up the phone and thus wake it (unnecessary for a text alert ). Or, if the "sleeping" (but powered on, of course) phone is charging. I rarely experience delays in receiving the voicemails themselves (including the visual component), just in receiving the alerts when the phone is asleep (unless it's charging).

I recently transferred to Xfinity Mobile as a new customer. I was an Android user on the previous carrier but now switched to iPhone. However, I found the visual voicemail doesn't work properly. The only option on the tab is "Call Voicemail".

Exact same issue. Transferred my line from Verizon to XM with a Google Pixel 3 XL, then activated an iPhone 12 Pro on my XM line and now I don't get Visual Voicemail. I also get weird error code text messages from Verizon whenever I get a voicemail.

Exact same issue here. Went from Verizon Android to XM iPhone 12. I get a notification about an incoming VM which is gibberish starting with VWVMN or something like that. At least I'm notified, but would really appreciate visual voicemail which I understand is offered by XM. It sounds like ComcastChrisL helped someone and we would all appreciate similar assistance. Thank you.

I also transferred my number from a Verizon Android to an Xfinity iPhone and only receive a VZW text when a voicemail is received. I just spent another hour of my life on a chat session with an Xfinity representative - they said they "reprovisioned" my voicemail and now it should work. Instead, it is exactly as it was. This is very frustrating!

Thanks - I finally had a Tier 2 customer service rep take care of it - kind of following your advice of removing voicemail and then adding it back in - resetting network settings - and voila - I have visual voicemail. Whew. Thank you for your advice!

Now the only way I can tell if I have new voicemails is to call into the service with *99. I do receive notice on the tv screen when a call is coming in. I do receive notice on the tv screen when a voice mail has been left. 2351a5e196
