When should we change to using the new twitter "x" logo on marketing materials? I'm not seeing much information regarding brand guidelines on their website and I don't see a lot of companies using it yet. I want to be sure I don't get into trouble if I use it too soon or incorrectly.

I'd like to display it with a black solid circle behind it (like Elon's profile image in twitter), but I'm not sure if that's okay when looking at their Brand Toolkit. -we-are/brand-toolkit

Please advise. Thanks! -Julie

I am having the same issue and is now October and this is the only place where the new "X" logo does not appear and the system needs to be updated as I have not found a workaround yet since it leverages the company's twitter landing page.

Why hasn't HubSpot already updated the logo to use in their software? HS is supposed to be a leading marketing platform and can't even keep up with social media. Twitter has now been X for weeks and has also increased their character counts. Yet, HubSpot emails still have the same bird twitter logo and social media posting still limits you to the old character count. Come on, HubSpot!

I definitely don't think it's too soon. And the usage really depends on the visibility and usage of what you are doing. If you are doing something like don't like with their logo a lawyer will let you know. Same would go for Hubspot or any brand logo for that matter.

Hello, We were recently onboarded using a HubSpot 3rd party that created our html signatures for our users within the platform. However, the twitter social link is still using the old image and "X" is not appearing. How can this be updated? Also, we have a custom link/image for requesting proposals to include and not sure if the CTA space is the correct area for this as it is not appearing on the preview screen after adding.

Hey @SMcGoldrick you'll need to upload the new x logo you wish to display somewhere that is publicly viewable, then update the twitter logo url in your signature to the url of the new log you've uploaded.

Yes, a 3rd party onboarded us and took care of this piece and now I am learning on my own with new users being added. Since this post HubSpot support reached out and stated they have not received correspondence from Twitter for authorization to implement the change (system related not user). Once they do the platform will reflect the new logo. So, nothing anyone can do until this is pushed to the platform.

We are looking to manually change our Twitter logo located in the module at the bottom of our emails - I understand we need to edit this via. the Design Manager in HS however the module I have been forwarded by support previews our social logos like so:

So 2 questions I suppose - 1. How do we identify that we are editing the correct module for these changes to take place, and 2. Once the Twitter logo has been replaced with the X logo how can we publish these changes live.

The inat app logo is an unmistakable shape of a bird in flight. Whilst being a bird, still it is vaguely reminiscent of a plant leaf . The light green colouring even gives more life to the iconography. And green happens to be my favourite colour. Helps me relax.

Can we please update the Twitter logos in the "social follow" templates?

When I send out emails to subscribers, I don't want messages to look outdated because my email service has not updated this template yet. The change in name and logo occurred over a week ago.

This has been implemented in all emails built using the Cross Platform/Device Editor (CPE). If you're still seeing the Twitter logo, make sure you're not still using the older 3rd Generation Editor (3GE) to build your email. If you're in the CPE, make sure to edit your social bar to force the visual change through for your existing block, or simply delete and re-add.

Adding to the chorus of voices to provide the X logo as an option in the social network block. They released their brand toolkit more than 20 days ago. This platform is making the users appear outdated and technologically behind the times. Please update it.

Musk announced his plan to change the logo in a series of Tweets over the weekend where he revealed the new logo and asked users to design a different logo that, if "good enough," would go live worldwide.

X, formerly and commonly referred to as Twitter, is a social media website based in the United States. With over 500 million users, it is one of the world's largest social networks. Users can share and post text messages, images, and videos known historically as "tweets".[4] X also includes direct messaging, video and audio calling, bookmarks, lists and communities, and Spaces, a social audio feature. Users can vote on context added by approved users using the Community Notes feature. Although the service is now called X, the primary URL remains twitter.com as of December 2023[update], with the x.com domain name redirecting to that address.

In October 2022, billionaire Elon Musk acquired Twitter for US$44 billion, gaining control of the platform and becoming CEO.[14][15][16][17] Since the acquisition, the platform has been criticized for increasing the spread of disinformation,[18][19][20] hate speech,[21][22][23] antisemitism,[24][25] homophobia, and transphobia.[26][27] The platform has been praised for taking a differing approach to content moderation.[28] Linda Yaccarino succeeded Musk as CEO on June 5, 2023, with Musk remaining as Chairman and CTO.[29][30][31] In July 2023, Musk announced that Twitter would be rebranded to X and that the bird logo would be retired.[32][33] In October 2023, the company estimated its value at about $19 billion, down about 55 percent from the purchase price one year earlier.[34] Fidelity at about the same time estimated the value to be down 65 percent from its purchase price.[35]

The tipping point for Twitter's popularity was the 2007 South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) conference. During the event, Twitter usage increased from 20,000 tweets per day to 60,000.[52] "The Twitter people cleverly placed two 60-inch plasma screens in the conference hallways, exclusively streaming Twitter messages," remarked Newsweek's Steven Levy. "Hundreds of conference-goers kept tabs on each other via constant twitters. Panelists and speakers mentioned the service, and the bloggers in attendance touted it."[53] Reaction at the conference was highly positive.[54] Twitter staff received the festival's Web Award prize with the remark "we'd like to thank you in 140 characters or less. And we just did!"[55]

From September through October 2010, the company began rolling out "New Twitter", an entirely revamped edition of twitter.com. Changes included the ability to see pictures and videos without leaving Twitter itself by clicking on individual tweets which contain links to images and clips from a variety of supported websites, including YouTube and Flickr, and a complete overhaul of the interface, which shifted links such as '@mentions' and 'Retweets' above the Twitter stream, while 'Messages' and 'Log Out' became accessible via a black bar at the very top of twitter.com. As of November 1, 2010[update], the company confirmed that the "New Twitter experience" had been rolled out to all users. In 2019, Twitter was announced to be the 10th most downloaded mobile app of the decade, from 2010 to 2019.[72]

On June 5, 2012, a modified logo was unveiled through the company blog, removing the text to showcase the slightly redesigned bird as the sole symbol of Twitter.[81][82] On December 18, 2012, Twitter announced it had surpassed 200 million monthly active users.

Following Twitter's change in ownership, speculations of an upcoming rebrand began as Musk began referring to the platform as "X/Twitter"[154][155][156] and "X (Twitter)",[157] and renamed several features, including Birdwatch to Community Notes[158] and Quote Tweets to Quotes.[159] On July 23, 2023, Musk teased that the platform would receive a rebrand,[160] beginning with a new logo based around the letter X. He later tweeted that if he found a logo, the rebrand would be implemented the next day. Subsequently, he tweeted a video of the Twitter logo glitching into an abstract X logo.[161]

Later that day, Musk confirmed the rebrand, which started when the x.com domain (formerly associated with PayPal) began redirecting to Twitter;[162] the logo was changed from the bird to the X the next day,[163] and the platform's official main and associated accounts also began using the letter X within their handles.[164] The @x handle was originally owned by photographer Gene X Hwang, who registered it in 2007. Hwang had expressed willingness to sell the handle, but received an email on July 25, 2023, stating that the company was taking it. He was offered some X merchandise and a meeting with the company's leaders, but no financial benefits.[165] The Android app's name and icon were changed to X on Google Play by July 27; the same change went live on the App Store on July 31 after Apple granted an exception to its minimum character length of 2.[166][167][168] Around that time, some more elements of the Twitter branding were removed from the web version, including tweets being renamed to "posts".[169]

The rebrand was described as unusual, given that Twitter's brand was already strong internationally, with words like "tweet" having entered common language.[170] The rebranding has been criticized on the basis that the trademarkability of the name and logo is weak: there are almost 900 companies in the U.S. that own an X trademark,[171] including an existing social media-related logo owned by Meta Platforms.[172] The X logo uses a blackboard bold X, a character that has appeared in mathematical textbooks since the 1970s and that is included in Unicode as .mw-parser-output .monospaced{font-family:monospace,monospace}U+1D54F ? MATHEMATICAL DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL X;[173] one user of the platform also noted a similarity of the logo to the lowercase x in the Monotype font Special Alphabets 4, though Monotype has confirmed that they are not exactly alike.[174] ff782bc1db
