A common practice is to type the number of tweets in a thread in each post to help readers navigate your posts, like "1/5" for the first tweet, "2/5" for the second tweet, etc. This can be good for short threads, but it's best to avoid this for lengthier threads as that can make it look too intimidating.

Personally would love to see the ability to schedule threads. We often resort to either posting the whole thread manually, or scheduling the first Tweet and jumping in right after to follow up on the thread.

In terms of tips, I've found good success in telling customer stories in threads! Obviously Twitter is a more short-form platform, and even using the 280 character limit comes off as weird when posting from a brand profile. By cutting a story into small chunks and telling that story via threads, Twitter can still be a longer-form story platform!

I'd love this capability not just for branding and engagement, but as a tool similar to a carousel in instagram. Just a thread of current promotions and news. Housed in a safe place on a different kind of platform.

Right now I use a temporary hack by tagging not only Readwise in a Twitter thread, but also mem.ai so I get a summary. And than I copy the info from Mem into Readwise, and then often get rid of the tweets in Readwise.

If you look at how conversations evolve on Twitter, one Tweet can spark several conversation threads, each of which can grow in length and complexity as more people chime in. Identifying relationships between Tweets and understanding conversation threads is a feature of the Twitter API v2 payload and search capabilities. When Tweets are posted in response to a Tweet (known as a reply), or in response to a reply, there is now a defined conversation_id on each reply, which matches the Tweet ID of the original Tweet that started the conversation.

Replies to a given Tweet, as well as replies to those replies, are all included in the conversation stemming from the single original Tweet. Regardless of how many reply threads result, they will all share a common conversation_id to the original Tweet that sparked the conversation. Using the Twitter API v2, you have the ability to retrieve and reconstruct an entire conversation thread, so that you can better understand what is being said, and how conversations and ideas evolve.

To request the conversation_id for all Tweets returned on a v2 endpoint, the tweet.fields=conversation_id field can be added to the request parameters. The conversation_id field is always the Tweet ID of the original Tweet in the conversation reply thread. All Tweets within the same reply thread, including reply threads that are created from earlier reply threads, will show the same conversation_id.

The conversation_id can be used as a search query parameter when using either recent search or as an operator within a rule for filtered stream. Using the operator on its own will result in the entire conversation thread of Tweets being returned in either real time through filtered stream, or paginated in reverse chronological order from search Tweets. You can also receive a count of the Tweets in a conversation using this operator with Tweet counts.

Reconstructing the conversation can be done by ordering the Tweets with a matching conversation_id by timestamp, and taking note of which Tweets are directly in reply to other Tweets in the conversation thread. This can be accomplished by also requesting the in_reply_to_user_id field and referenced_tweets.id and in_reply_to_user_id expansions.

Podcasters should know that you can also include podcast audiograms in your Twitter threads. These are exceptionally powerful tools to boost engagement levels, entice listeners to grab the latest episode, and draw potential listeners to your show.

Once your tweets are in place, the last step is to publish them all at once. We also recommend reading through the thread entirely before publishing to make sure your tweets are cohesive and clear. This is also a good time to fix up those inevitable spelling and grammar errors.

Just like the first line in a blog post or the first words of your podcast episode need to captivate your audience, so should the first tweet in your Twitter thread. Think of it like the subject line of an email: It has to be good if you want people to keep reading.

What should you include in your Twitter thread? You might live tweet a conference, publish noteworthy quotes from your podcast episode, turn your video into a series of GIFs, or publish your notes from a seminar. You could host a game, respond to fan questions, or teach a comprehensive lesson. You have a lot of freedom here.

Now that you know how to make a Twitter thread and do it well, the ball is in your court. Use this unique style of social media posting to create engaging content that grows your audience and delights your fans.

I often archive valuable tweets and tweet threads in my Obsidian vault. Previously I had done it using kbravh's tweet to markdown plugin. But now for it to work it needs Twitter API access with Basic plan which costs 100USD per month; that is way too much.Is there another way of quickly copying tweets and twitter threads to Obsidian (some Chrome extension perhaps?)

[EDIT]

Thank you people for valuable input. I didn't know about both Readwise and Omnivore. Omnivore looks great but unfortunately it doesn't archive whole twitter threads and this feature I use extensively. So I just connected Omnivore to Readwise and Readwise to Obsidian.

I sated my need to follow every plot point with a combination of Wikipedia synopses and various episode recaps, but then I found a thread from @levgarrity that very comically covers the major plot points and most unbelievable moments of the show's entire run, and was compelled to share some of the high points.

You aren't crazy - I actually had the same thing happen where it seemingly vanished and is now back. My guess is that either the high traffic caused the server to bork something, or the thread was temporarily made hidden while a mod dealt with a particularly egregious comment (I didn't see any comments, but that would kinda be the point of hiding it while dealing with it)

As for the YouTube thing, I am seeing multiple hours old threads about the situation on the video, so I would guess it's either to do with YouTube's own mystery algorithm de-prioritizing things for unknown reasons, or it could be that someone made a bad comment in the thread, and the thread got either auto-deleted or hidden. I doubt LMG is stupid enough to sensor stuff like that - they aren't censoring it here where they have full control and it's highly visible, so why censor it there where it could easily get lost in the shuffle anyway?

We should start a new forum, LTTFuckups.com lol. A lot of the general threads I lurk around on gve just been buried by redditors just flooding the forum with one dumb thread after the other. At this point the forums are just reddit without the karma.

THere are a bunch of issues when trying to clip a Twitter thread unrolled by threadreaderapp.com. If you select Article, it clips the whole page (literally like selecting "Web page" instead of "Article") or nothing at all using the "-" and "+" buttons when trying to select just the relevant part. ff782bc1db
