On the new switch, I plugged it in at my desk, assigned it an IP, tested the internet, etc. - all works fine. But as soon as I put it in place of the old switch, there's no connection. Lights are lit on the ports being used, but there's no network or Internet, and my laptop has a yellow triangle on the network icon in Windows.

So is there something about a mm fiber media converter that a managed switch doesn't like? I'm no pro at these or managed switches, like, at all. Is there some setting in the port configuration I need to look at? the port configuration shows the port is connected, albeit at 100M-half since the converter is not a gigabit converter.

Can also be things like your modem needs the ARP table refreshed before it will hand out addresses down the line. Have you also rebooted your other network equipment (modem etc) after installing the new switch?

I'll give these a go tomorrow when I get back to work. At the moment I just left the new switch piggy-backed into the old switch just so the PoE will work for the AP out there. It's a separate building - that's why it has underground fiber to it with the converter. I probably also need to upgrade that converter to a gigabit model.

In any case, you should check the switch log and see what events are occurring when you switch it on. Are you sure you are waiting long enough? If it has old STP enabled by default then you will get no network for about 60 seconds after connecting your PC. If it has some kind of BPDU guard enabled by default then it could be blocking the uplink port.

All this will be abswered by looking at the switch log - the whole point of getting a managed switch is you now have logs to check.

I assigned it a static IP within the subnet - I have a range that's excluded from the DHCP scope. And yes, I waited much longer than 60 seconds, so I'm pretty sure that wasn't the problem. The switch worked fine when I first set it up sitting at my desk, just not when I connected it to the media converter. I'll have to take a look at the switch log - didn't think of that. Thanks! Learning new things. :)

After sleeping I realized another time with a pair of TP-Link converters that when I plugged it directly into the router I got no connection, but when I put in a little 5 port Gigabit switch and ran through it to the router life was good again. Never investigated why. I was on a short time schedule and just needed it to work. Here is what I've had good success with and prices have dropped since I got mine by 70%

Warsawtech - that's exactly what I've done for the time being. It's plugged into the old gigabit switch. It may have to remain that way if I can't figure out the problem. If all else fails, I'm hoping that replacing the converter might help. Thanks for the link.

Barely-managed switch... seems like an apt description. It's a pretty cheap switch. It's in an external building with 1 AP and a couple of cameras, so I went cheap. TBH, I had to google auto-MDIX to see what you're talking about, so I'm learning new things here. I'll try a crossover in the morning.

Long convoluted story, but we started having problems with ANY switch plugged into the media converter, even the original switch. So I replaced the media converter with a spare I had on hand. Now the DLink switch is working as intended.

It was working fine, but now it gives me an error for every file I try to convert (and I've tried well over 50 at this point): "An error has been encountered when converting the file "/Users/macName/Library/Caches/0sJ9D5e/OKmIRCp.flac". Do you wish to continue converting files?" Then in the converter window under the Extended Information column, it says "No audio detected in the file", but there's definitely audio, because all files play in QuickTime Player with no issues. I'm guessing the problem has more to do with the fact that the location shown in the error message is definitely not where the file is located though...

I'm making 4 switch buck-boost converter using UCD3138A. I did analyze the reference design PMP21529 and I saw that it's hard switching between topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost) using interrupts (standard_interrupt.c) measuring input/output voltage. My question is is there an easier way to do this, using UCD3138A HW only, without any ARM supervision?

Let's say Vin >Vout then the Buck side having Q1( Main switch) and Q2 should be in control. For the boost block having Q4 and Q3(Main switch), Q4 should be almost 100% on. But that's not possible if you are using boot-strap based driver. So lets put a minimum duty of d2=5% to allow Q3 to be turned on.

So there is a buck to boost control transition involved here, and this transition can be done when d1 reaches 95%. In order to detect when d1 becomes 95%, you can use DPWM mode switching interrupt to create a fast interrupt and take appropriate actions. To be exact, when you get a fast interrupt for transitioning from buck control to boost control, you should : release d2 to be greater than 5%, set d1 min to be 95% to as to get a fixed duty of 95%.

Is there a hot key or easy way to replace an if-else if statement with a switch in IntelliJ? I would prefer not to manually convert the if-else if statement to a switch. I am looking to be able to highlight the if-else if statement and press a combination of keys or use a menu button.

The interface provides the necessary voltage sensing, timing functions and switching circuits required for automatic operation. This allows a 2 wire start generator to be installed without having to change the transfer switch or wiring between the transfer switch and generator.
