Finally, a place where your kids can be free and love the game of soccer/Futsal! Unlike some other forms of indoor, the Futsal game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football due to the surface of the field. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces. The evolution of the sport is amazing to some and maybe discouraging to others not familiar with the game.

The aim of this program is to increase the players personal skills to the next level. Using Futsal (Futbol de Salao - Soccer in a Room) as a platform for high speed, high volume ball touches and maneuvering in tight spaces. A typical Futsal game allows the player to touch the ball up to 600% more than traditional soccer thereby increasing the player's decision-making skills and comfort with the ball. A Futsal ball is smaller and heavier, which allows the player to easily command the ball and in return increase confidence that seamlessly transforms to a soccer game. This process produces skillful players.

Ball-A-Block is our version of the Adopt-A-Block program, but in the process of picking up litter we are also creating open spaces for public use where Houstonians can play street soccer. This is our DIY approach to making use of dilapidated and/or unused concrete structures and flipping them into futsal courts.

Street football or street soccer is an informal variation on the game of association football, typically played in outdoor urban settings such as streets, playgrounds and car parks.[1] The term encompasses a variety of different formats, which do not necessarily follow the requirements of a formal game of football, such as a large field, field markings, goal apparatus and corner flags, eleven players per team, or match officials (referee and assistant referees). Often street football is played as a pick-up game, without fixed timing and with players joining and leaving at any point.[2][3] Many renowned professional players have learned to play football on the street, including the likes of Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff, Pel, Giuseppe Meazza, amon Dunphy, Eusebio, Dejan Savievi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, among others.[4][5][6]

Street football is more similar to beach football and futsal than to association football. Often the most basic of set-ups will involve just a ball with a wall or fence used as a goal, or items such as clothing being used for goalposts[2][7] (hence the phrase "jumpers for goalposts"). The phrase was used by Ed Sheeran in his 2015 documentary Jumpers for Goalposts: Live at Wembley Stadium as a nod to playing the concerts at Wembley Stadium,[8] the "home of football."[9]

In some cases, a standard ball is not available and street football depends on a ball made out of garbage, such as discarded plastic.[10][11] Handwalla Bwana, describing street football in the Kakuma refugee camp said "We used to make a garbage ball. We used to go through the garbage cans and make as much soccer ball as we could" and attributed use of the garbage ball to being better with his feet.[12][13] Johan Cruyff has said "Footballers from the street are more important than trained coaches."[14]

In 2005, video game publisher Electronic Arts introduced FIFA Street, a franchise based on street football and freestyle football. FIFA Street series focuses on flair, style and trickery, reflecting the cultures of street football and freestyle football played in streets and backlots across the world.

In 2019, Electronic Arts added a Volta gameplay mode to FIFA 20. It shares similarities to the FIFA Street series and has a storyline of a street football player playing through the ranks, both making new friends and losing old ones along the way.[16][17]

When I play street ball, everything is moving at a million miles an hour. I need to make decisions before the ball is even passed to me. I have to be creative when passing defenders. I have to be unique and hard to read.

These are all skills that are needed on the full pitch. The difference, however, is time. Switching the ball on a full field with a big cross, for example, gives players time to control the ball and make a decision before the defensive line transitions to the other side. In futsal, every time a pass is made, you can expect an opponent to be instantly in your face. Every microsecond and touch counts, making futsalers supremely sharp decision-makers with superb ball control.

When developing young players, I emphasize these techniques I know will make them better ball handlers and smarter on the field. In practice, I like to set up a long rectangle of cones to work the inside, outside, and soles of the feet. Working with all different parts of the foot is extremely important. I also like to teach the boys feints and body fakes, which make a player much harder to read. One of the best exercises to do is to set up random cones on the street. Pretend these cones are defenders and practice random moves to try and beat them.

Futsal is played in 2 halves of 20 minutes each, while indoor soccer is played in 2 halves of 25 minutes each. As for the players, futsal consists of two teams of 5 players each, while indoor soccer is 6 vs. 6 (although there are 5 vs. 5 versions too).

Orf expects the Kiwanis courts to be the most successful (futsal) project to date in Northeast Ohio due primarily to the ethnic makeup and the cultural ties the Latino community has to the game of soccer.

Soccer is considered the most popular sport in the world. The street is the sports arena, where millions of children and youths play soccer. It is the place where many soccer stars begin to shine: Ronaldinho and Neymar are the perfect examples.

Even though in Italy, Brazil, Argentina and the rest of Latin America is usual to play on concrete streets or on dirt soccer fields, street soccer is now played in specific and modern soccer courts. In Florida, we already have very nice courts, perfectly designed to play this style of soccer, also called Futsal in some countries. 17dc91bb1f
