Known as the foundation of U.S. Figure Skating, testing determines what level skaters compete at. Both competitive and recreational skaters can take tests to continually challenge themselves and aim to achieve new goals.

Taking your first steps in the world of figure skating is an adventure that can transform into a lifelong pursuit of your personal skating journey.

Aspire offers skaters the opportunity to develop their skills while sampling different skating opportunities in a safe and supportive group training environment.

The Sulphurous Skater is a Hardmode enemy that spawns during tiers 2 and 3 of the Acid Rain event. They move slowly on land and will jump around often. Sulphurous skaters will target Sulphurous Sea bubbles and upon latching onto them, they will gain the ability to fly around and chase the player. If the bubble is popped by the player, it will return to jumping around.

Ice skating is the perfect activity for parties, companies, or organizations. Group rates are available for 10 or more skaters during public skate sessions. Please view the group rate stipulations below, as there are certain times during the year, we do not allow groups to receive group rates.

Ribbon Testing: At the end of each semester, skaters are tested on skills they have learned in their classes and are rewarded with a ribbon according to their level. These ribbons are nice keepsakes to celebrate your skaters accomplishments.

Once a skater has graduated from our Intro Classes they are promoted to an Intro-2 Class. Our Skating School Classes then follow the Galleria Ice Skating Center class criteria.

Synchronized skating, the original form of group skating, stresses the importance of unison, accuracy of formations, and synchronization of the team. The objective is for skaters to perform as a unit as opposed to individual soloists.

Olympic hopeful Nancy Kerrigan is attacked at a Detroit ice rink following a practice session two days before the Olympic trials. A man hit Kerrigan with a club on the back of her knee, causing the figure skater to cry out in pain and bewilderment. When the full story emerged a week later, the nation became caught up in a real-life soap opera.

Objective:  To examine the therapeutic effects of the lateral push-off skater exercise vs conventional treadmill training on health-related quality of life, cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), and balance.

Interventions:  Thirty-minute sessions of the skater exercise were performed 3 times weekly for 12 weeks in the intervention group. Conventional treadmill aerobic exercise was conducted in the control group at the same frequency and duration as the experimental group exercise.

Results:  Significant improvements in EQ-5D, peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak), peak oxygen pulse, peak minute ventilation (VE), Dynamic Gait Index (DGI), and Berg Balance Scale (BBS) were found in the intervention group after performing the skater exercise (P

Conclusions:  The skater exercise improved health-related quality of life, CRF, and balance in patients after minor stroke more effectively than conventional treadmill-based aerobic exercise. We recommend the skater exercise as a high-intensity interval training program for patients after minor stroke.

Skating in Buenos Aires is not always easy, but it is always rewarding. The streets can be rough and security can be a bitch, but the thing that makes skating in Buenos Aires so great is the skaters. The crews are strong and there is little to no beef between anybody, which is different than what we have experienced in other cities. With six or seven subway lines, five or six lines of regional train and more than 200 bus lines, the public transport will get you almost anywhere you want to go. The best part is that the tickets are less than 50 cents for each ride. With fruit shops and corner stores everywhere, you are never too far away from water or refreshments while on the session.

Blunt criticism of skaters, officials, and other skating figures is welcome, but please remember to be civil even when being critical. Excessive hostility, degrading commentary, name calling, and ill-wishing are not. "I don't think XYZ deserved that score and ABC should have won over them?" Fine. "XYZ is trash garbage and I hope they fall four times?" Not fine. We will hand out 3 day suspensions for the first and second offenses under this rule, with a permanent ban on the third offense.

While figure skating is a sport and proper diet and exercise an important component of success, relevant advice will be limited specifically to pre-practice/competition meals and also to exercises particularly helpful to skaters. Other subreddits are available for general nutrition and fitness advice. The only advice we can give with respect to medical symptoms is to seek the opinion of a medical professional.

Posts regarding elite skaters' non-skating social media and celebrity activities will be limited. One happy birthday post will be permitted per birthday, as well as one post announcing/discussing major life events in a skater's life (ie: marriages, coming out, college graduations). Duplicates will be deleted.

The coaching staff at Howelsen comes from all over and from just as varied a skating background. Take a look at our coaching staff page on the Steamboat Skating Club website and contact our On-Ice-Director, Kelli Standekar if you have any questions. Once on team, skaters often choose to add private instruction so they can work one-on-one to improve skills and learn programs for competitions. To get set up with a coach of your choice, fill out the "Request for Private Instructor" form and drop it by the rink. Coaches are contracted and paid directly by the skater.

Once a skater is proficient in the skills taught in the Learn to Skate Program, it is time for them to move on to the Steamboat Skating Club Intro to Figure Skating Class. Here, skaters can further their skills with continued instruction and ice time set aside specifically for figure skaters.

After graduating from Intro, skaters are invited to become a US Figure Skating Member and join our Steamboat Skating Club "Team" skaters. These skaters train multiple days a week and compete across the state! The Steamboat Skating Club lessons are taught using a group class format. This unique approach to figure skating training encourages teamwork, builds a positive environment among skaters, and keeps costs low to keep skating accessible for everyone.
