Tap that son of a gibbon, and how 'bout that? You can actually add a one-tap shortcut to that exact item right onto your home screen for super-speedy, direct access. That means you can get to it easily, anytime, without ever having to open up the main Drive app or do any manner of digging.

With these app-added shortcuts, in contrast, you can drag and stack to your heart's content. And, in fact, that opens up another interesting possibility: You can create folders of related shortcuts to give yourself a custom productivity command center.

That's the case with Gmail, for instance. Press and hold your finger anywhere on your home screen and find the widget-adding option, then find Gmail in the list and look for the "Gmail label" item. That'll let you add a one-tap shortcut to any specific label from your inbox on your home screen, and just like the other shortcuts we've been building, that shortcut can then be combined with any others into a folder for maximal organization.

Why am I having to suggest this when we already had it before you took it away? I did most of my access to Evernote using shortcuts on the home screen to important notebooks. I'm very annoyed and feeling unappreciated as a long-term user.

Same issue. I just can't seem to understand who in the hell had the bright idea to stop remove shortcuts to notes I used to have on my cellular ? Aren't new versions aiming to improve instead of worstening ?

@Paul A. Unfortunately you are correct, only works for Notes, not whole notebooks. I changed my workflow and put everything into a .Inbox folder first, so I can live without it. But if you want to directly add notes to existing notebooks for grouping, this is a must. There are no Launcher shortcuts yet, either. Version 10.29

You can use Obsidian plugins to have a shortcut (like long press of volume button) or just a launcher on the home screen to add a note (or task or anything) to a specific Obsidian file at a specific location.

During setup on my android, there was a widget or shortcut-like option that looked like the 1password logo and just lived on the right side of the phone screen. I had turned it off, but would like to try it out. How/where do I turn that feature back on?

It sounds like you are referring to the accessibility shortcut feature available starting with Android 12. See the screenshot below as an example of what the accessibility shortcut looks like on the home screen for 1Password on Android 12.

If that's what you mean, you can turn the accessibility shortcut on and off from the Android Settings app by tapping Settings > Accessibility > 1Password > 1Password Shortcut. See the screenshots below for illustration of those steps.

Yes! that's exactly it, thank you. I actually got a random android notification about turning it on so I have it now. But it doesn't do anything?! tap, drag, long press....nothing happens. Wondering if there is a setting within the app I also have to enable?

Yeah, tapping the shortcut doesn't appear to do anything, but it actually does do something behind the scenes. It toggles the accessibility features on and off for 1Password. Those accessibility features include filling and saving in apps and browsers. Check our documentation about filling and saving on Android for more details.

The home screen on your smartphone or tablet isn't just a place where your apps live. You can also add shortcuts to websites. Here's how to create an "app" for any website on your device, allowing you to access shortcuts directly from your home screen.

As far as I have checked, it happens when you open the App using the shortcut AND after that, you change to other Project. At this point, if you exit from the APP without closing it, the Shortcut goes directly to the last Project viewed.

Hi everybody, just upgraded to Android 13 on my new FP4 and noticed that the shortcuts for the camera and flashlight have disappeared. Anybody having the same issue? And any idea how to get these shortcuts back to lockscreen?

I was trying to find a way to create a shortcut icon on my androidphone when suddenly dropbox (or Word) asked spontanously that would you like to create a shortcut to this file??? but the question hasn't appeared again and I haven't found a way to do it to other files.

Please help me out, it would be so handy to have instant access to a specific file.

about sharptools: that was what I use on ST hub, but then it was just an android app with widgets.

Now Sharptools is a service with subscription. Am I wrong ?

I wouldn't pay for a service 30$/y , especially when there are other methods that do the same for me.

I'm on Android Pie as well, and under the keyboard settings (Language and Input), there is a physical keyboard section which lists out the shortcuts available (example). If your keyboard doesn't come with a function key, you may need to find a mobile equivalent to AHK that can bind a certain key input or combination to invoke the meta key input. Also note you may be able to send a keyinput event through ADB or your device's local shell terminal, which then might be made more accessible through various automation methods, some of which may have device-dependent factors.

This process will just delete the icon for the shortcut. To delete the app from your Android smartphone or tablet, tap Uninstall from the same menu. Or if you're using a Pixel, you'll need to drag the app icon to the Uninstall section at the top of the screen.

In the My Files app, go to the Downloads folder and select the file. Then, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and choose Add shortcut from the drop-down menu. Note, however, that this option isn't supported on all Android devices.

I am using Joplin 2.4.3 on Android.

The "New Note" and "New to-do" shortcuts available when long pressing the Joplin icon could be very convenient, but at the moment the new notes just get added to an arbitrary notebook where I don't want them.

Removing the underscores did not change anything.

I did, however, discover a way to bypass the problem entirely.

When I close the app entirely the shortcut works as expected!

This bug only seems to occur when you leave the app running in the background (which is what I usually do).

Adding website shortcuts to your device's homescreen can provide quick access to your favorite websites. In this article, we will walk you through the steps to add a website shortcut to your homescreen using Firefox for Android.

This article describes Miradore's web shortcut configuration profile for Android. This configuration is available only for customers with the Premium Plan. The web shortcut configuration requires Miradore's Android client version 2.3.2 or newer.

The Web shortcut configuration profile allows an administrator to create URL shortcuts to the home screen of a target device. The administrator can upload a custom icon for the shortcut, or use the default provided by Miradore. When the end user clicks a shortcut, it will invoke the default handler for that URL type. Typically for standard web shortcuts, a web browser is opened, but it always depends on what kind of applications the end user has installed on the target device.

Even though the profile is named web shortcut, it is also possible to create shortcuts with URLs that are not HTTP or HTTPS. What happens when the shortcut is clicked always depends on the target device, whether it has an application installed that knows how to handle that URL. You could use protocols such as ftp:// etc. If no protocol is defined in the address, it is assumed that it is a HTTP-shortcut.

First, you need to create a new configuration profile and define the shortcut settings. Start by navigating to Mobile management > Configuration profiles and creating a web shortcut configuration for Android. See Creating a configuration profile for more details.

Whether this configuration works or not depends solely on the home screen application (launcher) used in the target device. As the end users may use a custom home screen application that does not support remote creation of home screen shortcuts, we cannot guarantee that this configuration will work on all your devices.

It is not possible to check programmatically if the home screen has a certain shortcut added, so the deployment is marked completed immediately after the client receives the configuration. Due to reasons explained in the previous paragraphs, this does not mean the shortcut has actually been created.

For the same reasons we cannot guarantee that a shortcut is created, and we also cannot guarantee that a previously created shortcut is removed. For example, Google has removed support for removing shortcuts from the current versions of its home screen applications. So even though a shortcut can be created, it can't be removed programmatically.

Does anyone found any shortcut to open Play Music? I've tried as shortcut the app name, the activity to open app but nothing works... In the dashboard when i click that shortcut it takes me to configuration of the tiles. LOL

The latest Fully Kiosk Browser release has helped a bunch with opening Android apps from actiontiles. You can now select apps for the whitelist. You can also figure out the app intent URL very easily, by turning on the new single app mode and selecting the app you want. It will then load the intent URL which you can copy and paste it into a shortcut tile. So far I have gotten it to work with Spotify and Hangouts. Works like a charm. e24fc04721
