I recently installed the free university edition of SAS and tried doing the same unsuccessfully. After playing about with the data for a little while, I realized that if you copy data directly from excel, SAS interprets different columns as white spaces/ tabs and merges data causing an erroneous data table.

To correct this you would need to remove tabs/ white spaces from your data in excel before copying into SAS university edition. You can do this in text file (note pad) or using the tool provided here: Remove Extra Whitespace and Tab Space

Since its inception, the studio has invited over 100 emerging and established contemporary artists from around the world who have worked in a range of styles and media to produce more than 1,000 limited edition print and sculpture multiples. Impressions of Graphicstudio editions have been acquired by leading museums and corporate and private collections worldwide. In 1990, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. established an archive of the editions that resulted in a major exhibition with an accompanying catalogue documenting the history of Graphicstudio. In 2014, the Tampa Museum of Art presented a major survey exhibition also accompanied by a significant publication that focused on works produced in the last two decades.

Graphicstudio practices traditional printmaking techniques including intaglio, lithography, silkscreen, and relief along with photogravure, cyanotype and pigment prints. Sculpture multiples are produced in a range of media including bronze, steel, aluminum, wood, rubber, and less traditional materials including lava (basalt) and pigmented resins.

Graphicstudio was founded in 1968 as an experiment in art and education at the University of South Florida, Tampa. At Graphicstudio, research into art-making techniques works in tandem with new aesthetic expressions by leading and emerging artists. The constant push by collaborating artists and studio staff to create new possibilities for artistic practice is the backbone of the atelier, and the impetus that has kept it at the forefront of international fine art publishing.

Graphicstudio was founded by Dr. Donald J. Saff as part of the renaissance in American printmaking in the 1960s, in the company of studios such as ULAE, Tamarind, and Gemini GEL. This renaissance brought artists involved in the Pop art movement, such as Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Jim Dine, together with a growing number of trained printmakers, and with an American public desiring to collect affordable art.

EEMS offers five different studios, including: a recording studio, two mixing studios, an intermedia lab room, and an electronic instruments studio. All house high-quality equipment and software. These spaces allow excellent working conditions for students to develop their personal works, make recordings, conduct rehearsals, and more.

Edition Studio III contains essentially the same hardware and software as Studio II, but is a smaller project studio designed for advanced users. Like Studio II, it is easy to connect a laptop to the audio playback system, keyboards, and control surfaces. Studio III can also serve as the control room for recording sessions in Studio IV, using a Yamaha DM-1000 mixer and tie lines that connect the two studios.

Studio IV functions primarily as a recording studio, using tie lines that connect it to the Yamaha DM-1000 mixer and patch bay in Studio III. When not being used for recording, Studio IV is designed to be used as a stand-alone quad mixing studio. It has a baby grand (C3 model) Yamaha Disklavier, RME Fireface UFX audio interface, and a Yamaha O2R Mixer.

On Friday, April 23, The Dissent Studio had its final review with visiting critics from the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, Howard University, Columbia University, Yale, the California College of the Arts, and Dark Matter University, among others. The review and the studio explored speculative design work that reconceptualizes what it means to engage in contentious political issues. The work is being developed as part of a book project. Stay tuned!

The development of SAS began in 1966 after North Carolina State University re-hired Anthony Barr[15] to program his analysis of variance and regression software so that it would run on IBM System/360 computers.[16] The project was funded by the National Institutes of Health.[17] and was originally intended to analyze agricultural data[12][18] to improve crop yields.[19] Barr was joined by student James Goodnight, who developed the software's statistical routines, and the two became project leaders.[15][16][20] In 1968, Barr and Goodnight integrated new multiple regression and analysis of variance routines.[21][22] In 1972, after issuing the first release of SAS, the project lost its funding.[17] According to Goodnight, this was because NIH only wanted to fund projects with medical applications.[23] Goodnight continued teaching at the university for a salary of $1 and access to mainframe computers for use with the project,[17] until it was funded by the University Statisticians of the Southern Experiment Stations the following year.[16][23] John Sall joined the project in 1973 and contributed to the software's econometrics, time series, and matrix algebra. Another early participant, Caroll G. Perkins, contributed to SAS' early programming. Jolayne W. Service and Jane T. Helwig created SAS's first documentation.[21]

Students, faculty, staff, and university affiliates with a Virginia Tech account can borrow equipment. Equipment lending is free though there are fees for late returns, broken or malfunctioning equipment, or stolen equipment.

Equipment loans with more than one of the same type of item (i.e., multiple DSLR cameras, multiple laptops, multiple tablets, etc.) are considered special requests. Since our inventory is limited and we aim to serve as many people in our university community as possible, we need at least two weeks in advance to review special requests.

Open positions for student employment in the Studios Network are listed on Handshake.com. If you are interested in working in one or more of the studios and have questions, please reach out to librarystudios@vt.edu for more information on current opportunities.
