My understanding from the very brief internet search I did on this, as I've never chosen to take the DS points for it, is that it's completely random which runner will win. They don't call it roulette for nothing.

A roulette is a curve traced by a fixed point on a closed convex curve as that curve rolls without slipping along a second curve. The roulettes described by the foci of conics when rolled upon a line are sections of minimal surfaces (i.e., they yield minimal surfaces when revolved about the line) known as unduloids.

A particularly interesting case of a roulette is a regular -gon rolling on a "road" composed of a sequence of truncated catenaries, as illustrated above, as first noted by Robison (1960). This motion is smooth in the sense that the geometric centroid follows a straight line, although in the case of the rolling equilateral triangle, a physical model would be impossible to construct because the vertices of the triangles would get "stuck" in the ruts (Wagon 2000). For the rolling square (a "square wheel"), the shape of the road is the catenary truncated at (Wagon 2000). Interestingly, a detailed mathematical analysis had been published by J. C. Maxwell (of electromagnetic theory fame) in 1849 (Maxwell 1849) which, while its did not include critical idea of truncating catenaries, contained essentially all the other underlying mathematical ideas.

Given a base curve, let another curve roll on it, and call the point rigidly attached to this rolling curve the "pole." The following table then summarizes some roulettes for various common curves and poles. But that didn't stop a group of chaos theorists from trying to beat it anyway. And according to new research published in the journal Chaos, it looks like they may have found a way to beat the house. They were able to model the motion of the wheel and ball and were able to confirm their predictions both in simulation and using an actual roulette wheel.

Of course, casinos tend to frown on precise measurements and computer simulations by their gamblers, so the researchers developed a simpler method of predicting the outcome of a roulette game that could be deployed without notice. The first step is simply for a player to note the time it takes for the ball to pass a fixed point to get a rough approximation of the velocity of the ball. That approach, according to the researchers, produces results that " although noisy, are feasible" for making predictions.

Using those simple measurements and the equations presented in the paper, the researchers were able to predict which half of the roulette wheel the ball would end up in about 59% of the time. By betting strategically in accordance with those predictions, this enabled them to get an 18% return on their gambling. That's compared to a -2.7% return in the normal course of roulette gambling.

In the original French roulette, the numbers 1 - 36, had the zero and the "double zero". The zero was coloured red and also counted as "Pair" and "Manque"; the double zero was black and also counted as "Impair" and "Passe".If the ball fell into one of the two zero divisions, all lost stakes are taken by the bank but if the bet was matched by virtue of being Pair, Impair, Rouge, Noir, Passe or Manque, instead of being won, the stake was imprisoned until the next spin of the wheel. On that subsequent turn, the stake was either lost or if the ball matched the bet again, the stake was merely returned to the gambler without any profit.

There is no good way to bet roulette. The ships use American-style wheels which have terrible returns. Generally you can make your money last a little longer by playing outside bets only and staying away from insides and baskets.

Now if you bet black it goes red, if you bet 1st and 3rd dozen it lands 2nd. If you bet 2nd and 3rd column it lands 1st. Fix roulette so its fun again, everyone knows how rigged it is, make it less. #makeroulettefunagain

That is not true at all. We all used to just play the basket and it would hit over and over again. It never hits now even after yall changed the multiplier from 11x to 6x. In beta you could bet one number and eventually hit 7.2m a few times ending in positive. I guarantee if you play a single number 35x you will not hit once. If you max bet on a street, double street, etc best of luck to you. It will land on a number nobody bet or at best a number someone is playing a single chip or a double. We used to make tens of millions of units on roulette. You can not say its strictly a random number generator and nothing has changed. Thats stilly.

I would love for you to actually play roulette maybe even on a table full of random people. Notice how 1:1 bets, 1 chip number bets, maybe 2 chip splits are the only thing that ever hit. I played from 3 mil units to nearly 40m, and as the updates rolled in now i;m down to 15m. Its not just me, everyone that plays roulette knows how absolutly scuffed it is. It is not an RNG.
