Earlier Enterprises may not have had a hard limit specified in the documentation but there has been a lot of discussion on issues packaging data. There's a good chance that's why these hard limit recommendations eventually came to be.

You can create up to 16 offline map areas per web map. I'd recommend creating multiple offline areas, as optimized (small) as possible, instead of a single behemoth. I'd look to the 11.1 or latest size limit recommendations as a good guide - under 1gb is better.

I'm on 10.9.1 and I'm having issues packaging offline areas due to the size of the packages. Since discovering the size limit in the 11.2 documentation, I wondered if the hard limit had always existed but not specifically mentioned.

I discovered that my map already had 16 offline map areas of various sizes (up to 3GB in size) which led me to question how the size limit was enforced. Then, I realised that when the offline map areas were created, they were very likely to be under 2GB in size initially.

As the size of some of the feature services grew, the data in the offline managed grew as well through the 'update' process. The 'Update' process appears to ignore size limits which is how I ended up with packages >2GB in size.

It does introduce a lot of issues in maintaining these offline areas because you could not knowingly be maintaining a perfectly working offline area that has exceeded the size limit but suddenly could not be recreated again due to the size limit and the result is a broken offline map area.

The social brain hypothesis has suggested that natural social network sizes may have a characteristic size in humans. This is determined in part by cognitive constraints and in part by the time costs of servicing relationships. Online social networking offers the potential to break through the glass ceiling imposed by at least the second of these, potentially enabling us to maintain much larger social networks. This is tested using two separate UK surveys, each randomly stratified by age, gender and regional population size. The data show that the size and range of online egocentric social networks, indexed as the number of Facebook friends, is similar to that of offline face-to-face networks. For one sample, respondents also specified the number of individuals in the inner layers of their network (formally identified as support clique and sympathy group), and these were also similar in size to those observed in offline networks. One of the well known 'lighter' distros for containers is alpine and luckily there is a supported node version of it called mhart/alpine-node!

We can keep trying to reduce the bundle size by shipping even less code to the container. Let's use npm prune for that (unfortunately, yarn decided to not offer an exact equivalent). By using npm prune --production right after building, we can get rid of all of our dev dependencies. Rebuilding the image shaves yet another 100Mb.

Currently there is a limitation that "Offline math will not be available on reduced data" when using the "always slow" or "fast on trigger, slow otherwise" storing types. It would be useful to be able to use offline math on slow data.

During a slow storing of data, DewesoftX acquires the data with full speed and then calculates the minimum, maximum, average and RMS values. The only data that is stored are the MIN, MAX, AVE, RMS values for the duration of the static acquisition rate.

I'm using slow storing because I have a lot of channels and the file size is excessive even when doing slow storing and occasionally doing 2 second long fast triggers. I've already optimized the file size by only storing important channels. Other channels are set to Used, Not Stored.

I understand that offline math would be complicated if the slow data is stored as MIN, MAX, AVE and RMS within a single channel. I'd like to see DEWESoft give the user control on how slow data is stored / displayed: Allow the user to pick if slow data is stored as MIN, MAX, AVE, and/or RMS. And if the slow data is only one type of value (e.g AVE) then I'm assuming offline math would be feasible (and my feature request could be implemented).

I gather you wish to reduce the size of the recorded datafile. Could you please elaborate ''the file size is excessive'' further? What do you mean by that? We would like to know exactly what is troubling you, so that we can give you the most suitable suggestion for your use case.

Additionally, if you are running low on space on your measurement PC, you could use the DataManager plugin to copy the data to a different folder/different disk and delete the datafile from the default folder from Dewesoft.

As mentioned previously, when we are storing data as slow, Dewesoft acquires data with full speed, then calculates the MIN, MAX, AVE, RMS for the time interval (set with static acquisition rate) and only stores these values.
