My colleagues and me have been experiencing that the QSync Client doesn't start up when Windows is starting up. All of us have been updating our client to 5.0.0.1409. When looking at our personal settings, the box at "start Qsync when windows starts" is checked.

We are now done configuring Qsync as a windows service so click the Save >> button to record your settings.In a couple of seconds, an application called Qsync will show up in the AlwaysUp window.It is not yet running though, and the state will be "Stopped":

If that does not work, Go to /usr/share/applications in Files (AKA Nautilus) and search for qsync or QNAP until you find a file that begins with one of those terms and ends with .desktop.

Before deploying Qsync, you will need to create an account for yourself as well as any other users planning to use this service. After that, you will need to install a client on your devices. QNAP has clients for Windows and Mac computers as well as iOS and Android devices. For testing purposes, we installed the client on a computer running Windows 8.1.

The only real limitation that Qsync has is that it doesn't support SAMBA, FTP or AFP for file access. Thankfully, even if your computer or mobile device does not have the Qsync client, you can still access your files through the web based File Station.

Qsync has four major features: one-way file sync (files to the QNAP), two-way file sync, versioning of files, and team folders. With Qsync, you can sync files between the QNAP and another QNAP, endpoints, or the cloud. I will only be using it between the QNAP and endpoints, mainly a couple laptops. QNAP has Qsync clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, (Ubuntu), Android, and iOS.

Following the steps listed in the Qsync tutorial/guide, I added user accounts to the NAS, created a shared folder on it, installed Qsync Central on the NAS, granted users access to the shared folder, and installed the Qsync client on my laptops.

I then downloaded and installed the Qsync client to my laptop. When it was installing, it closed File Explorer on my laptop. Once it had installed, I launched the client and logged in as one of the users I had previously created.

7 All members in the group will receive a file sharing invitation. Once accepted, the group members can start to access this shared folder. Note: The team folder will only take effect after users you send the invitation accept the invitation. To avoid any confusions change the setting(click here) on the Qsync so all the invitations are accepted automatically. Users cannot share the team folders which are shared from others again. 8 3. Click Settings on the bottom right side of the screen. 4. Scroll down and look for Auto upload from photo gallery and click Set up now. 5. Select a NAS to upload photos and videos to. 6. Select the folder. 7. Select Use default setting ( /Qsync/Camera Uploads) or select Set up manually to set the path. 8. Select if you want to upload all photos from the photo gallery immediately. 9. You can check the checkbox Limit to Wi-Fi to upload files through Wi-Fi and avoid possible expenses associated with the 3G usage. The uploaded files will be synchronized to the Camera Uploads folder under the 10. Qsync folder on Qsync client devices. Note: If files uploaded before are deleted from the Camera Uploads folder, the Qfile will not upload those copies in the photo library again. Manage Qsync (Windows) Click the Qsync icon on the taskbar to see the management functions: 1. Add files and view the synchronization result on the NAS: a. Open the Qsync folder: Open the Qsync folder to add files, b. View files by the web browser: Open the File Station (web based file explorer) and browse files in the Qsync folder on the NAS. 2. Control synchronization progress: a. Pause syncing / Resume syncing: Click to pause or resume file synchronization, b. Sync with NAS now: Force Qsync to scan again and refresh the synchronization list.

11 i. Conflict Policies: The policies for handling the name conflicts between the Qsync server (NAS) and clients after it is back online from its disconnection: (1). Rename the local file(s), (2). Rename the remote NAS file(s), (3). Replace local files with remote NAS file(s), (4). or Replace remote NAS files with local file(s). ii. Sharing Policies: The policies of the team folders when other Qsync users share them to this local computer: (1). Always reject sharing, (2). Automatically accept sharing, or (3). Send a notification message once sharing occurs. iii. Filter Settings: During file synchronization, Qsync will not synchronize the types of files specified in filter settings. Note: To avoid any confusions please make the following changes on the policy on your Qsync (Windows):. For conflict policies, change it to replace files on the NAS with the local files. For Sharing policies, choose accept shared files automatically. d. i. Set up Set up an account for sharing file links.
