As you can see from my screen shot, the popup alerts are totally generic, no fine print, no "more info..." to logos, no accompanying emails to let you know an update is available and what it does and why you might update. Apple makes the iPhone and iPad able to update Carrier Settings Updates and the carrier makes the actual Settings software so since the text doesn't establish the version, or if the update is the actual update, or the software to allow your carrier to provide us with Settings Updates. The text is too vague and generic to know anything.

I have never heard of a Carrier Update being faked. There's also little likelihood that customer facing AT&T personnel would know much about the releases unless they'd seen them on their own devices. I've also never seen a carrier explain what they were for. There was one time that an iOS update broke something for TMobile customers and TMobile announced they'd be releasing a carrier update so everyone assumed that the update that followed shortly addressed that issue.

This article contains the steps to follow when updating these carrier settings. If you are following these instructions but continue to see an available update, can you tell us if the installation completes successfully when you start the update each time?

Checking for carrier updates can resolve a number of issues such as when your iPhone has no service or when your iPhone says there's no SIM card. It's a good idea to accept new updates as soon as they're available.

All devices sold by T-Mobile (and many that aren't) support automatic configuration of your network and data settings. To reset your settings to default, choose your device manufacturer. These steps will reset all network settings and remove any saved Wi-Fi Networks or Bluetooth pairings, as well as reset any app-specific data restrictions.

When referrals are off, your NPN (or NPN override NPN) will always be applied. HealthSherpa only refers an application if the "refer" checkbox has been selected for the respective Carrier. If both the appointed and refer boxes are selected for the respective carrier, applications for that carrier will be processed as referrals.

Yes, you should do it. The carrier updates will improve communication between your phone and the carrier you are using at the moment. But it shouldn't affect communication when you get home since you would be using your regular carrier again. Think of them like printer drivers in the old days. You would update the drivers for printer B when you are connected to it, but you wouldn't think that that would matter when you connect back to printer A since it has its own drivers.

This article is designed to help us understand the purpose of this update on our iPhones and devices and it will show you how to update the carrier settings on your iPhone. It is also designed to explain why we should update to the latest version of this software from your mobile carrier.

The message is pushed to your iPhone usually by your mobile phone provider, companies like Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T in the USA, and Vodafone, O2, EE, and others in the UK. This update is designed to give you improved connectivity to your mobile carrier to improve calls, data, and more when you are using your device. Sometimes if you are experiencing connectivity issues on your device, installing this update can fix the issue.

It is always recommended that you install the latest carrier settings update on your device as it comes with the latest software to enable you to get the best connectivity to your mobile provider. Just like Apple pushing out regular updates, mobile carriers do as well to improve network connectivity for customers.

I was just prompted on my iPhone 6s for a Carrier Settings update. I've never had that happen since being on PM since Nov/2016. I don't remember what the previous settings were, but now it appears in my settings to say Public Mobile 28.3

Is there a way to re-open that dialogue? A button that should be pressed somewhere? A page that needs to be opened in one of my apps? I have tried opening software update, Carrier settings, Phone settings, etc., but I just can't update my carrier settings.

Theoretical max speeds based on 5G mmwave technology and eight channel carrier aggregation (8cc). Actual speeds vary based on many factors including network configuration, signal strength, network congestion, physical obstructions, and weather. 5G network coverage (available in certain areas in 2020, expanding after that).

What is a carrier update? A carrier settings update for your iPhone is not the same as an iOS update. Apple releases iOS updates that add new features and settings. Your carrier settings update, on the other hand, comes directly from your cellular provider, and provides smaller tweaks that ensure your cellular network works to the best of its ability and keeps up with new iPhone capabilities. It's also important to update your carrier settings if you can't connect to your cellular network or data, or see "Searching" or "No Service" or Searching on your iPhone or iPad. So, whether you have TFW (TracFone Wireless or Straight Talk), Verizon, Sprint, or another provider, you'll need to update carrier settings periodically.

Regularly updating carrier settings on your iPhone guarantees you of seamless connectivity with your service provider. Updating your carrier settings takes only a few minutes, but it helps keep your iPhone running correctly. If in doubt, check with your carrier service provider or the Apple Store for more help and support.

Samsung devices can configure the APN (Access Point Name) settings automatically depending on the SIM card. You may see a pop-up message during the Setup wizard in the first boot up the SIM card was freshly inserted on the device and the APN is not set yet.

If the incorrect network or wrong APN settings are set, you will not be able to use the internet through the data network and so on.

Reason is that after switching to the new Visible+ plan via eSIM, it seems that the APN settings did not downloaded in to my device. I did contacted customer service to fix the issue, but the attempt to fix it was worse because i was 2 days without service, because the order in visible side of things "got stuck" this is what I have been told. And I'm afraid to go to the whole process again of redownloading an eSIM that will get stuck again. and please don't tell me to do a network reset, don't it multiple times in many unimaginable ways.

Same situation here. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. Esim download got hung, and after removing and reinstalling Visible app, finally downloaded but did not write APN settings to my device. So I had no mobile data. Contacted support and redownloaded the esim several times, still no APN settings. Finally google searched this article and mobile data started working. Only problem is I cannot send or receive MMS. Contacted support again and case was escalated but still no resolution. Any ideas how to get MMS working?

Add these 3 APN settings make sure the first one is selected, restart your phone, this should fix the problem, my question is why are the people on the forum more knowledgeable than the customer service It's supposed to be the opposite

Is there a reason I can't add a new APN on the Pixel 7 Pro? Even under dev options, it doesn't give me the add option. Trying to try these APN settings from this thread to try and resolve the current text problems.

@Flipper7 In my experience with AT&T, this does not happen. The phone model number remains a U1 and no carrier apps are loaded. It does set the update server and other network information to point to AT&T.

Carrier settings are the data stored on an iPhone that are specific to a particular phone carrier (AT&T in the U.S.). When any of these settings need to be modified from the defaults of an iPhone OS installation/activation, Apple issues a carrier settings update. You download and install these update files via iTunes, in much the same way as iPhone OS updates.

Here in the U.S, the most recent carrier settings update was the one required to enable MMS (picture/video) messaging. When AT&T gets around to turning on Internet Tethering, expect yet another carrier settings update.

From your iPhone, you can find out the version of your currently installed carrier settings by navigating to Settings -> General -> About -> Carrier. On my iPhone 3GS, running iPhone OS 3.1 with the MMS update, the listed version is: AT&T 5.5.

If you later install an iPhone OS or carrier settings update while the configuration profile is installed, it may undo the effect of the profile. If that happens, remove the configuration profile and reinstall it. That should get things working again.

When you insert your SIM card into your Android phone and complete online activation, your phone's APN settings will be configured automatically. Please allow up to 15 minutes for your device to receive a connection. You will receive a text message with your next steps. 2351a5e196
