I agree this needs to be added. I work at a very large insurance company and we are required to use internet explorer for all company domains. It would be very helpful for internet explorer to have a plugin/addon.

Older versions of Internet Explorer have security problems which will never be fixed and using it will leave you vulnerable to all sorts of problems on the internet. Many websites, such as Facebook, Youtube and Gmail are no longer supporting old versions of Internet Explorer.

After 25+ years of helping people use and experience the web, Internet Explorer (IE) is officially retired and out of support as of today, June 15, 2022. To many millions of you, thank you for using Internet Explorer as your gateway to the internet.

Internet explorer is the well-known web browser which comes with the Windows OS and is used for surfing the internet and browsing web pages.

Internet explorer was initially released as an add-on package for Windows 95 and the early versions came with a simple looking interface and retro icons. By the time version 2.0 was released IE was part of Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, and NT 4.0 operating systems; version 3 included support for internet mail and news and the windows address book, unfortunately however this version came with many security and privacy issues which resulted in users reverting back to IE2. IE4 fixed the security and privacy vulnerabilities that were in IE3, but it contained its own issues which were later solved in version IE4.5 which up until this point was the most stable version. IE6 was the last version to support Windows 2000 and included Windows Messenger integration, media bar and also the Internet Explorer Administration Kit which was a customization package for companies wishing to adapt IE to their needs.

IE7 saw tabbed browsing introduced, the interface looked more sleek and it was also the first version to run a check on whether your Windows OS was genuine prior to installation, however Microsoft removed this requirement a year after its release. IE8 released in 2009 made security its priority and enhanced the RSS and CSS support. The 2011 release of IE9 saw little changes in-terms of UI and functionality. Its main improvements are to the performance of web applications and graphics making use of hardware acceleration using Direct2D and DirectX. Other features include the InPrivateBrowsing feature which allows users to browsing data (i.e. history); as for security, users are protected by what is called SmartScreen filter which blocks websites which are fraudulent or contain malware.

When I'm trying to install a built application (Labview 2010) on a computer running windows XP or windows 7 I get the error message "Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher required" (see attatched file). I have tried to install different versions of internet explorer on different machines using both windows XP and windows 7 but nothing helps.

Just a quick note, that Microsoft stopped all support for XP and IE8. So it is no longer a viable browser to use or test with... not to mention the major websites on the internet don't even allow there site to render in IE8, since it is now a dead browser version.

On June 15, 2022, Microsoft finally killed the much maligned Internet Explorer. However, despite its criticisms, it introduced the internet to millions. As Windows took the lion's share of personal computers during the '90s and 2000s, so did the pre-installed browser.

However, as time passed, better alternatives like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome emerged. Eventually, even Microsoft developed another browser called Microsoft Edge, supplanting Internet Explorer as Window's primary internet browser.

This version is Microsoft's second release for their internet browser and was also the first version to support Apple Macintosh and PowerPCs. Microsoft also developed Internet Explorer 2, so it could support up to 24 languages, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

The fourth IE version was the first to integrate the desktop experience with the internet, thus enabling Window's Active Desktop. This feature is similar to Windows 11's Widgets, where users can add online content to their desktop via IE4.

IE7 is also the first browser to feature Delete Browsing History, which clears your cache, history, cookies, saved data, and passwords in a single click. You can then use this to clear your information on the browser if you're using a public terminal or internet caf.

Internet Explorer had an astounding 28-year run, installing it in varying Windows OSes from Windows 3.1 to Windows 10. Although the internet browser now has a bad reputation, mainly brought by the failures of IE6 when it was at its peak, we cannot ignore the immense impact of its legacy.

This browser introduced several technologies still in use today, including cookies, SSL protocols, Automatic Tab-Crash Recovery, and more. And despite its failings, we cannot discount that at least three generations discovered the internet with Internet Explorer.

I downloaded the software but during installation i get the message - Manager can not be installed on system with internet explorer version lower than 9. Screen shot is attached herewith. Can you please help me out. 0852c4b9a8
