The 6510 is not a bad multifunction model. It produces great quality output both for text and graphics documents and the Web features are nicely implemented and easy to use. But seeing that it lacks features such as an automatic document feeder and a PictBridge USB port that you can find on other manufacturers' similarly priced models, we're not sure it's worth paying the price premium over HP's more affordable Photosmart 5510.

wow, idk how but you got it to work. when i open up Print & Fax on my mac, it wasn't showing up until i plugged it into my computer with a USB. Then it showed up, but the name of it got cut off so i couldn't read if there was any text after Photosmart 6510 series.

then i unplugged the usb, and my printer didn't disappear in the Print & Scan page! it was still there! so i went to print a document and under Printer it showed Photosmart 6510 series but it had an '!' in a triangle in front of it, so i thought, "oh no, not this again". i went to print it anyway, and it worked!

I'm having the same problem as bradywurtz. I tried all the suggestions you gave but when it came to choosing the option for Photosmart 6510 series [EDD2B0] it was not listed. Actually once I deleted the USB connection there were no other choices. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

HOWEVER...when I tried to install a fourth computer, the installation process froze up on the screen where it looks for the wireless connection. I have since deleted that installation and re-installed it four times, and even though it finds the HP 6510 as part of my network, it goes to a screen that says NOT CONNECTED after trying to install the network drivers.

I'm having the same problem - I've got a MacBook Pro (Lion) and have tried at least three times to install and reinstall the drivers for the Photosmart 6510. The wireless printing works well for a few hours and then very erratically. I'm just getting 'the printer is not connected' but there is not rhyme nor reason! Sometimes out of the blue it'll be working just fine and at other times (like now) nothing!

I have never owned anything but HP printers and I am ready to give up. I bought the 6510 and it has been nothing but trouble to connect. Can't connect from my Win7 laptop, can't connect from my wife's MacBookPro. This is appalling. Trying to install over wireless. Using static LAN address on printer and all computers are on the same network. No software driver for mac???? Really HP??????

I am a faithful HP product owner (printers and computers) so have been totally ticked at the problems I've had with my HP 6510. At least twice a month I have to reload the driver because the printer basically "deletes" itself. The amount of time I've put towards reloading the driving is adding up (plus the driver which is available on-line seems to have a bug in it since it ends up spinning at the end of the driver loading process). Since this printer cost me under $200, I think I'm just going to toss it into the trash and buy another (possibly different brand) printer. Enough is enough!!!

I have just purchase a photosmart 6510 and I cannot scan to computer. The printer tells me that I have to enable this via the printer software. I know I have installed all of the software from the disc provided.

My scanner also, does not work properly. I keep getting the error message that the printer software needs "scan to computer" enabled. The software does not open to allow that change. I have uninstalled the software twice and the scanner still does not work. I tried the recent solution and it too does not work. When I attempted to install the software from the disk, the software would not install. The message was my computer is running an unsupported operating system; it is running Windows 10. Right now this HP 6510 is only good as a door stop.

However, when I try my iPhone 4 or iPad, that are connected to the same wireless network as the Hp 6510, the message shown on both the apple devices is that they can't find an airprint enabled printer.

Hi, can the Photosmart 6510 print in black & white (not greyscale, but b&w only) when the black ink cartridge is not empty but all the other cartridges are? What if the color cartridges are not even installed, will it still print b&w?

Thanks for the reply. The Photosmart 6510 uses 4 cartridges. So i guess all 4 need to be installed for the printer to print. But will it still print b&w if the black ink cartridge is full (or near full) but the 3 colored cartridges are empty (but still installed in the machine).

I had a HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m Model CD035a that just had its printhead fail (CN643A). Although I work for HP (Enterprise Services), it was cost prohibitive to replace so I bought a Photsmart 6510 AIO. On the B209a-m, I liked how I could remove the printhead assembly and clean the ink gunk of the ramps, etc. It appears that on my new 6510, the printhead assembly can be unclipped from the carriage - but once loose, there is not clearance to remove the printhead for cleaning.

New to the black ink not working issue here... Same as you, HP 6510 is just over a year old. Worked perfectly before changing black ink cartridge. I have now bought 2 new cartridges thinking the cartridge was the problem. Wonder if customer service will acknowledge this issue when I call them back?
