If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, trash will be collected on your normal collection day with no delays to your pickup.

If the holiday falls during the work week, collection for the remainder of the week will be postponed by one day. For example, if the 4th of July falls on a Monday, and your normal collection day is on Thursday, your pickup for that week will be on Friday.

Our schedules apply to recycling and trash collection service provided by Montgomery County, Maryland, to single-family homes and townhomes. Check whether your address receives County-provided service.

We do not make County-provided recycling or trash collection on these County holidays with the following exception: If the actual holiday falls on the weekend , but the County observes the holiday on the Friday before or the Monday after the actual holiday, there is  no change in the collection schedule .*

Note: These schedules shall be used by all state agencies operating under the policies, rules, and regulations of the Office of State Human Resources. Institutions of higher education and agencies requiring a 24-hour operation may adopt varying holiday schedules in keeping with operational needs provided the employees are given the same number of holidays as approved by the State Human Resources Commission. Such special holiday schedules must be filed with the Office of State Human Resources.

It is recognized that some agencies may need to adopt an additional holiday schedule applicable to their employees working on assigned shifts to maintain a 24-hour operation; this schedule would designate as holidays the specific dates of the legal observances rather than substitute weekdays when the observance occurs on Saturday or Sunday. This would be in keeping with the purpose of the holiday premium pay policy. Click here to read the state's Holidays Policy.

Fraudulent activities should always be reported to your local law enforcement office. The following is additional information on how specific types of fraud complaints or cases of suspected fraud can be submitted to state agencies.

Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the public holidays listed in these pages for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).

Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017, falls on a Friday. An employee who works in the District of Columbia, Montgomery or Prince George's Counties in Maryland, Arlington or Fairfax Counties in Virginia, or the cities of Alexandria or Fairfax in Virginia, and who is regularly scheduled to perform nonovertime work on Inauguration Day, is entitled to a holiday. (See 5 U.S.C. 6103(c).) There is no in-lieu-of holiday for employees who are not regularly scheduled to work on Inauguration Day./p>

This year, the Inauguration Day holiday falls on Monday, January 21, 2013, which is also the legal public holiday for the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (See 5 U.S.C. 6103(c).) For Federal employees who work in the District of Columbia, Montgomery or Prince George's Counties in Maryland, Arlington or Fairfax Counties in Virginia, or the cities of Alexandria or Fairfax in Virginia, Inauguration Day is observed concurrently with the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. Federal employees in these areas are not entitled to an in-lieu-of holiday for Inauguration Day.

This makeup schedule is for trash and recycling collection only. It is based largely on the City's annual Fiscal Year calendar, which starts on July 1 and ends on June 30 of the next year. Individual dates reflect when the City observes each holiday (when City offices are closed), which do not always reflect the specific holiday day.

If holidays fall on a weekend, the City observes that holiday the Friday before or Monday following the holiday. Solid Waste Services do not have regular neighborhood collection on Wednesdays. As such, holidays that fall on Wednesdays are typically not impacted by City-observed days.

Recology Sonoma Marin observes the following holidays. Please review the following schedule to find out more about holiday collections. No delays for holidays that fall on a Sunday for residential customers.

Dates for the Morris campus holidays are reviewed and approved by the Senate Committee on Educational Policy (SCEP) and the Faculty Senate. These dates are published on the University Senate Academic Calendars website.

Dates for the Rochester and Twin Cities campus holidays are reviewed and approved by the Senate Committee on Educational Policy (SCEP) and the Faculty Senate. For the Twin Cities/Rochester calendar, the Civil Service Consultative Committee sets and approves the floating holidays. These dates are published on the University Senate Academic Calendars website.

In addition to the observed University holidays above, faculty and staff are encouraged to consult the Office for Equity and Diversity's Calendar of Holidays and Religious Observances before scheduling events or exams. This list is not exhaustive and observances are not necessarily days when individuals will not attend work, but it is encouraged to be flexible with colleagues who may need to shift their workload or schedules, or require accommodations.

Academic, civil service, and non-faculty labor-represented employees in Crookston, Duluth, and Morris usually have a scheduled floating holiday instead of a personal holiday. The entire campus is closed on the scheduled date.

Classes will not be held during the week of Thanksgiving. If employees want to take Monday through Wednesday off, they will need to follow procedures to request annual leave or comp time.

You receive paid holiday time off when you're appointed to work at least 20 hours per week for at least 4.5 continuous months. If you're faculty, you must be appointed for at least 50% time for at least 4.5 continuous months. If you're appointed less than full-time, you'll be granted holiday leave based on the percentage of hours you're appointed.

If your position requires you to have student status as a condition of employment, you aren't eligible for paid holiday time off. For more information, please see the university's Handbook of Operating Procedures.

The holiday schedule is published each year. The state legislature determines the number of holidays that can be observed by all state agencies and institutions of higher education. The university observes the same number of holidays, a combination of national and state holidays, that are observed by state agencies. However, institutions of higher education are allowed to be flexible when establishing their own schedules. So while the number of holidays observed is always the same, the university may have a different schedule than state agencies.

The legislature stipulates that we can only observe holidays that fall on a weekday. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, we can't observe it on a different day such as the previous Friday or the following Monday. 152ee80cbc
