I saw this plugin for vscode and would love it if sublime was able to allow for a theme to specify a glow parameter for text. I think there is a good chance this could add a great readability improvement for some themes.

For only the first banner on this site I'm trying to put a white glow behind the text so it shows over the image. I've sort of figured out the CSS code (below) for the effect I want on the heading but I'm not sure exactly how to apply this to only the body on this banner without making it show up on all of them.

Doing a 13th century writing search showed a specific looking font used a lot with minor flourish changes across the board, which would happen if all were hand written. (see images below).

You can see it bleeding into the image itself but it won't show up under the text. If I change the background to black it shows up but I want it white. I do have the text as the top layer and I've tried adjusting the settings as well as the blend mode. The purple on her shoulder is the glow.

The glow effect illustrated in the image is typically achieved by rendering the stuff that glows by itself, bluring that texture one or multiple iterations, taking the luma component of the blurred texture and multiply the luma by the glow color or gradient map (color/tone mapping) and then add the resulting color to the original image. This is similar, but not equivalent, to what the Unity Image Effect Bloom does.

If you want to do something like that to UI text elements, you could (quick and dirty solution) I guess setup two overlapping text objects that are equivalent. Use white color for the first and total transparent color on the second with red outline and use a blur/glow/bloom filter/shader with addivitive blending on the outline to achieve something similar to what you posted as an image. Something like this is required if you want the red to bleed into both the white area and to the background.

text-shadow requires four values, the first two of which represent the horizontal and vertical position of the shadow, respectively. The third value represents the size of the blur radius while the last value represents the color of the shadow. To increase the size of the glow effect, we would increase the third value, which represents the blur radius. Or, expressed another way:

Now you can make stunning design project with Fancy Glow. A touch of sophisticated yet fancy style font. The perfect way to brighten up your project. Fancy Glow is a script font that resembles actual handwriting.

I can't find out how to change these parameters. I am beginning to suspect that I need to edit the TextMeshPro/Distance Field Shader in order to to programmatically change the glow. Does anyone know if that is true... and if so, how to do it? Thank you!

To begin with, install the base theme from the VS Marketplace. This is the way Synthwave '84 is intended to be used day-to-day. If you want to enable the gratuitous 80s glow, it needs a little extra work to get it going.

VS code doesn't natively support text effects and as a result, the glow is experimental. It's likely to be buggy and, whilst it looks rad, it isn't intended for extended use. To enable the glow, the extension has to modify the internal files of VS Code, so use with caution. Should something go wrong, you can disable the glow by following the instructions below. If for any reason you can't open VS Code, you can fix the issue with a fresh install of VS Code.

Note: Changing the brightness currently only affects the opacity of the glow, the text will remain white (that may change in future updates). If you want to disable the glow effect but retain the chrome updates, see below.

Because enabling the glow modifies core files, VS code will interpret this as the core being 'corrupted' and you may see an error message on restarting your editor. You can safely dismiss this message, or remove it entirely with the Fix VSCode Checksums extension.

I haven't included a font in this release as I know that it's a very personal preference. The font I use (that is seen in the image above) is Fira Code, which I recommend if you're a fan of ligatures.

Go to Insert > Word art and write your text, hit enter. Customize your text font and then go to Fill Color and select a soft one, Go to border color and select its bright variant, select border weight and click on 3px (or more depending on the font you choose or the size of your Word Art).

I've had this style for years. As of about 2 weeks ago, it doesn't show up correctly in the resource where I use it. You can see the correct display when I edit the highlight but in the text it has some kind of crazy font.

My shot in the dark here would be the difference has something to do with the way GTK/Gnome vs. QT/KDE is handling your font subpixel/lcd/anti-aliasing/rendering. If all of your KDE apps seem fine, then it's something with your GTK setup. I'm guessing you are using primarily using KDE if you have Dolphin running. One other outlier possibility would be the differences between how KDE/GTK is handling font DPI.

I have a project I'm stuck on, it has text and a grid effect (made from a plane) for the floor. I need all objects to have a glare effect emitting light, everything is glowing correctly except one text item, the blue "Media" text. I have added emission the same as the other items and i think done everything correctly in "compositing nodes"

I've noticed that the other texts and the grid are all showing a "Particles" tab so I've missed something somewhere. That's the only difference i can find between the ones that glare and the Media text. Still really new at this. Spent hours trying to work it out. "Media" text is supposed to be glowing like everything else. Thanks!

Solution: Add a plane behind your thing that won't glow, and make sure to add it to the object/mesh. Make this plan transparent, and it won't render but it WILL provide the background needed to show the glow. It's a coding thing that shouldn't exists.

To achieve the neon text glow, we recommend focusing on Blur, Density, and Opacity. Play around with these settings until you achieve your desired glow text look.

Want to really nail that neon sign look? Place your text against a black or dark background and play around with common neon colors (such as pink, blue, yellow, or red) to make it look more realistic. Additionally, opt for a traditional font to make it pop. Our top recommendations are Orbitron, Monoton, Megrim, and Jura (pictured).

For an extra-terrestrial glow reminiscent of your favorite Sci-Fi novel cover, you can experiment with our Glitch Effects. Simply add a glow to your text, then save your design as an image. Next, open your image in the Photo Editor and navigate to Effects, followed by Glitch Art. Choose and adjust the Glitch Art effect to give your glow text a new, Sci-Fi look! For this photo, we used the Corrupted effect.

You can also turn your glow text into a stunning piece of watercolor art by using the Watercolor effects. Save your glow text design as an image, then open it in the Photo Editor and navigate to Artsy in the main menu on the left. Click the Watercolor category to access the numerous watercolor effects. Then, simply choose and adjust one (if necessary) to your liking! For this image, we used Watercolor 1. Then we increased the Smoothness and Softness, both of which can be found in the Edit menu, for that extra dreamy look.

With our new Drop Shadow feature, adding a neon glow effect to your text is both quick and easy. Plus, with multiple customization options, achieving the perfect glow effect is quick and simple. You can access these features by starting a new project in our Photo Editor, Graphic Designer, or Collage Maker.
