Just converted from Android to Apple, and I'm trying to figure out how to send iMessages or even SMS/MMS through a any web browser like you've been able to for countless years with Android. It seems obvious that I'm missing a simple solution here.

Now imagine this situation... I'm on my PC at work, like 80% (S.W.A.G.) of the world for 8+ hours a day, I find something interesting that I want to share with a friend/colleague. I first have to email it to personal account. Then I have to find that on my iphone and then send it to someone in iMessages... Now we want to chat about, but I still have to do it on my phone instead of my computer. IT flags my sending emails to a personal account, and my boss sees me on my phone constantly - the optics are bad; I get fired and can no longer afford to buy these fancy and coercively exclusive Apple products.

I have web page where I have Button that either opens app (if it installed) or directs to App store if app isn't installed. It all works if App is installed (I call into "MYAPP://"). However, if app is not installed Safari shows error message "Can not open URL" and that's it. Is there way to disable that message from JScript or is there another way to find out from JScript if app installed (instead of hitting app URL)?

At Branch we use a form of the code below--note that the iframe works on more browsers. Simply substitute in your app's URI and your App Store link. By the way, using the iframe silences the error if they don't have the app installed. It's great!

I've combined a few things and used the following code to check if it's an iOS device before using the try/catch method from chazbot. Unfortunately, the device still throws a pop-up box to the user saying the address is invalid...anyone know if this is expected behavior for trying to open an invalid URL within a "try" block?

The SFSafariViewController shares cookies across apps, and with the built in Safari. So in your app you can make a request through a SFSafariViewController that will set a cookie that says "my app was installed". For instance you open your website asking your server to set such cookie. Then anytime you get a request from a SFSafariViewController you can check for that cookie and redirect to MYAPP:// if you find it, or to the app store if you don't. No need to open a webpage and do a javascript redirection, you can do a 301 from your server. Apps like Messages or Safari share those cookies.

I've found it annoying that this will prompt the user if they want to leave the current app (to go to your app) even when your app is not installed. (empirically that seems only true from a UIWebView, if you do that from the normal Safari for instance that wont happen) but that's all we got!

You can differentiate the UIWebView from the SFSafariViewController from your server since they have different user agent header: the SFSafariViewController contains Safari while the UIWebView doesn't. For instance:

When you use Safari on multiple devices, your tabs carry over from one Apple device to another. So you can search, shop, work, or browse on your iPhone, then switch to your iPad or Mac and pick up right where you left off.

I DID follow DTLows post and can see that you can do a switcheroo and take one device out and put one in. My point is that I foresee Evernote closing this loophole and somehow enforcing the rule of ONLY 2 devices. Take one out and they may impose a time limit or some other such mechanism that will keep you from switching it back in.

@Rootman - Another 'work around' which I don't see Evernote being able to stop: you could always have a new basic account on your third computer and share notebooks from it to your current account, and vice-versa. All your devices would have access to all notebooks. But it's pointless worrying about what else Evernote will restrict - just deal with the current situation. Cross new bridges if and when they appear - you're never going to have any blanket guarantee that Evernote won't curtail features again...

While you should clear your web browser's cache, cookies, and history periodically in order to prevent or resolve performance problems, you may wish to record some of your saved information first. If you are unable to do so, see Troubleshooting alternatives below.

If you don't see instructions below for your specific version or browser, search your browser's Help menu for "clear cache". If you're unsure what browser version you're using, from the Help menu or your browser's menu, select About [browser name]. In Firefox, if you don't see the menu bar, press Alt.

If you need to clear your cache, cookies, and history for troubleshooting purposes, but aren't yet prepared to lose the content listed above, you may wish to consider using a private browsing window in your preferred browser as a temporary solution:

The steps to clear your cache, cookies, and history may differ depending on the model of your Android device and your preferred browser, but you should be able to clear your cache and data from your application management settings menu:

The affected apps are just using the "Back Camera" so you'd expect iOS to automatically select the correct lens based on autofocus. Especially when you're using the browser to show the camera stream, it's not like you can specify which lens to use. The only options you get are "Front Camera" and "Back Camera". I'm guessing it must be a software issue with iOS.

I was bitten by this bug on my state digital driver license app and can't add a digital ID to my new phone. Later in testing, I noticed this issue with my barcode scanning apps that the minimal focus distance has dramatically changed. Thankfully I haven't heard from users but I have to image this is causing issues and likely negative reviews. I'll test out the link to the 2021 WWDC video and article and will see what changes can be made to fix the barcode scanning framework I use. I guess this justifies the purchase of new hardware vs only testing in the simulator ?.

Wow still happening with IOS 6.2 on iPhone 14 Pro. Considering the price point of this device and the excruciating pain involved in switching from Android after 20 years, this is really unacceptable. Should I get some Android developers to help fix this?!

correct, every 3rd Party App is caused by this issue. This is my first comment and will probably my last one.My first Iphone in my Live.Need to ident my self my Online Ident Services .On my Desk:Apple Macbook pro M2 = camera is not good enough.Apple Iphone 14pro = App from our German identifier Service is using the apple API for the Camera = no focus.so frustrating. There is no! possibility to Video ident with an Apple Device.Thats the sad Reality.5 month -> known issue.

You know, I am very confused by this focus issue in web apps. Latest version of ios on an ipad with lidar and video appears blurry under many conditions. It would be very helpful for apple to allow other browsers to run natively, so developers can compare results and perhaps recommend browsers accordingly.

But for iOS, I am trying to find better option to add cards from browser directly to AnkiMobile. I can successfully add card to AnkiMobile but the problem is that, Safari popup every time when cards get added.

Create cards and copy images to Anki collection.media folder.

And download output-all-notes.txt from side menu and generated deck from that one. It needs pythonista like app installed. Then using my python script, deck can be generated. But it is boring and long steps.

So, in next release I will try to reduces the steps to create deck for iOS and web version. So stay tuned.

The home screen on your smartphone or tablet isn't just a place where your apps live. You can also add shortcuts to websites. Here's how to create an "app" for any website on your device, allowing you to access shortcuts directly from your home screen.

If you are a little hesitant but want to try life without Facebook, you can of course, temporarily deactivate your account. But note: Facebook will encourage you to do this rather than delete, and this does not delete your account or data from Facebook.
