The published status for each course displays in the Published column [6]. Unpublished courses display a gray background [7]. The gray background does not display for unpublished courses in past or future enrollments.

Courses under the Past Enrollments heading are courses that have concluded but are still available as a read-only archived course. Prior users can view course material and grades but cannot submit any assignments.

Future courses may be published or unpublished. However, some institutions may restrict instructors from accessing courses before the term begins. If a future course does not include a link [1], the course cannot be viewed until the term start date.

The Curriculum of the Asian Studies Program is twofold: rigorous Japanese language studies and courses in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Business/Economics pertinent to Japan and Asia make it possible for participants to approach a wide array of study areas during their stay in Japan. Since all courses in the Asian Studies Program, aside from those focusing on the Japanese language, are conducted in English, it is possible for students with no previous Japanese training to pursue an in-depth study of Japan and Asia.

From May through August, the ICPSR Summer Program offers more than 80 courses in statistics, quantitative and qualitative methods, and data analysis for researchers across the social, behavioral, and health sciences. Stanford released the first open source version of the edX platform, Open edX, in June 2013. We named our instance of the Open edX platform Lagunita, after the name of a cherished lake bed on the Stanford campus, a favorite gathering place of students. Stanford Online used Open edX technology to offer more than 200 free and open online courses on the Lagunita platform to more than 10 million learners in 190 countries.

Most courses on Lagunita offered the ability to earn a Statement of Accomplishment, based on one's overall grade in the course. A Statement of Accomplishment acknowledged that a Stanford Online course offered through Lagunita was completed with a passing grade by a particular participant. This Statement of Accomplishment serves as verification of the successful completion of the course.

House Courses provide an intellectual experience that is not available in regular course offerings. Such courses are developed in response to student interests and concerns and serve as a bridge between the academic and residential life of students. They enhance intellectual life in the residence halls where they are taught, hence the name "House Course." These courses are open to all undergraduates.

House Courses carry 0.5 semester course credit and are offered only on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory grading basis. These courses meet at least 12 times for a minimum of 18 hours. House Courses do not carry any curriculum codes and do not satisfy Small Group Learning requirements. Up to four House Courses may count toward graduation.

In order to give current undergraduates an opportunity to develop their own ideas and skills, House Courses may be taught by current Duke undergraduates, who must be supervised by a member of the Trinity College faculty teaching on campus in the semester during which the course is offered. Undergraduate student instructors of House Courses do not receive course credit for teaching and may not enroll in their own courses. House Courses may also be taught by faculty in a recognized school, department, or academic program at Duke.

All courses must be approved and sponsored by a Trinity College Arts and Sciences department AND approved by the Committee on Courses. House Courses are free-standing courses of 18 or fewer students. The course may not require for a grade any other curricular or extra-curricular activity or enterprise, nor participation in activities beyond those of the course itself. House Courses are not skills courses or required training for subsequent courses or activities. House Courses do not have prerequisites, corequisites, or required permission. Enrollment in House Courses is open and cannot be limited by anything but the size of the course. Nevertheless, enrollment priority may sometimes be given for those living in the House where the House Course is taught.

It is assumed that courses in progress at the time of enrollment will be completed successfully and thus fulfill a course requisite. Course administrators/departments may check the completion of these courses and may drop enrolled students who failed or dropped a requisite course and notify them accordingly.

Students will be provided with an opportunity to evaluate their enrolled courses and their learning experience. Most instructors use AEFIS a digital course evaluation survey tool. In most instances, students receive an official email two weeks prior to the end of the semester, notifying them that anonymous course evaluations are available. Student participation is an integral component of course development, and confidential feedback is important. UW-Madison strongly encourages student participation in course evaluations.
