Puppy is an independent Australian feature film starring Nadia Townsend, Bernard Curry, Sally Bull, and Terence Donovan. The film was written and directed by Irish-born, Australian Kieran Galvin, who also directed the short films The Burning Boy, Mono-Winged Angel, Contact and Other People. He also wrote the exploitational thriller Feed (directed by Brett Leonard). Both Puppy and Feed were produced by Melissa Beauford.

Dog is a 2022 American comedy drama road film directed by Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, both making their respective film directorial debuts, based on a story by Carolin and Brett Rodriguez. The film stars Tatum as an Army Ranger who is tasked with escorting the military dog of his fallen friend to his funeral. The film also stars Jane Adams, Kevin Nash, Q'orianka Kilcher, Ethan Suplee, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Nicole LaLiberte in supporting roles. The film was produced by Free Association on a budget of $15 million.[4]

The film was released in the United States on February 18, 2022, by United Artists Releasing. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, praising Tatum's direction and performance. It was also a box office success, grossing $85 million worldwide.

The film was inspired by a real road trip director Channing Tatum took with his dying dog, a pitbull mix also named Lulu, after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2018.[8] Tatum told Yahoo! News, "When I went on my last road trip with my puppy, [I experienced] that feeling of, 'There's nothing I can do. There's nothing left to do. You just have to accept it and be thankful for the time that you did get and know that they're not supposed to be here forever. I'm supposed to go on and she has to go someplace else."[9] Tatum's dog died on December 19, 2018,[10] and the film is dedicated to her memory. Tatum described the filmmaking process as "cathartic", telling Forbes that "It gave me a lot of perspective on what she meant to me, what her purpose was in this life that we had together."[6]

On November 5, 2019, Tatum and Reid Carolin were announced as the directors, both to be making their directorial debuts, from a script Carolin wrote with Brett Rodriguez. Tatum and Carolin would also act as producers, alongside Peter Kiernan and Gregory Jacobs, through Tatum and Carolin's production company Free Association.[11] Tatum, Carolin, and Rodriguez previously collaborated as executive producers on War Dog: A Soldier's Best Friend (2017), an HBO documentary that explored the relationship between soldiers and their military working dogs.[12] On March 2, 2020, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired North American distribution rights to the film.[13]

In addition to co-directing the film, Tatum also stars in the lead role.[11] On November 15, 2019, principal photography was announced set to start in the middle of 2020.[11] It filmed in Valencia and Lancaster, California, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.[14] In December 2020, Q'orianka Kilcher was added to the cast.[15] Composer Thomas Newman composed the score for Dog.[16]

The film was originally scheduled to be released in the United States on February 12, 2021, by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer,[13] but was pushed back to July, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[17] The date was later revealed to be July 16.[18] It was then pushed back again to February 18, 2022.[19]

According to iSpot, United Artists Releasing spent $16.3 million in television spots that generated 1.17 billion impressions. The film was particularly advertised on Fox News, CBS, TLC, NBC, and ABC across programs including the Winter Olympics, the NFL, re-runs of Friends, and Hannity. According to social media firm RelishMix, social digital awareness hit 81.9 million across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram before opening. Tatum's 45.6 million followers on social media were highlighted as a significant factor in the film's box office performance.[20]

The film was released digitally on March 11, 2022, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on May 10, 2022, by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.[21] The film was released to Amazon Prime Video on September 16, 2022, 210 days after its theatrical release.[22]

The score was composed by Thomas Newman.[16] An official soundtrack was not released with the film.[citation needed] The film contains music licensed from artists such as Kurt Vile, A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak, My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes, John Prine and Kenny Rogers.[40] Season Kent was credited as the music supervisor for the film and was solely responsible for selecting all the credited songs.

We are expecting a puppy at the end of January. The breeder we are going to uses the puppy culture protocol for her litters. This will be our 4th dog and I have to say I wish I knew of this course much sooner. It is a fantastic course and my wife and I really enjoyed it.

I am welcoming a first time puppy to my home in March.. My breeder requires all her puppy parents to watch it. I am so glad I did and am gonna watch it again. I didn't want it to end. I learned so much and loved every min of the the series. I now feel more ready to care for my new puppy when they come. I am also happy to know I am working with a breeder that does puppy culture in her program.

In the short film, which is based on a comic book strip by a Brazilian artist named Fabio Coala Cavalcanti, the boy opens up a box from his mother to find a small, excited puppy inside. The boy's joy, however, quickly turns to disgust when he realizes the dog only has three legs.

Dog Gone is nowhere near the best I have ever seen, but as far as Netflix dramas go, it feels sincere. The final moments warmed my heart, and sent tears sliding down my cheeks. A certain level of cynicism can be hurled in the way of the filmmakers for some of the more emotionally manipulative moments, yet one cannot deny the sheer power of the ending. Easily recommendable for families and dog lovers, Dog Gone is a refreshing, sweet little movie.

Throughout this submission, I will discuss the overall process of creating my short thesis film, Puppy. An overall summary of my production approach and a detailed account of the specifics of how each production element occurred will also be provided along with visuals from the set. I will also discuss my education and experiences from my time at the University of New Orleans.

Plot: As a puppy, Bella finds her way into the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. When Bella becomes separated from Lucas, she soon finds herself on an epic 400-mile journey to reunite with her beloved owner. Along the way, the lost but spirited dog meets a series of new friends and manages to bring a little bit of comfort and joy to their lives.

In "Dog Gone," Rob Lowe plays a businessman who joins his son to search the Appalachian Trail for a lost dog. At one point, he describes his expertise as making "predictive assumptions." It does not take much expertise to make the predictive assumption that this movie, a heartwarming fact-based story of John Marshall and his son, Fielding (Johnny Berchtold) reconciling to find a beloved pet, will have some sweet dog-bonding montages to indie music (Freebridge, VANYO, Easy Tiger), human and canine health crises and tender moments of connection, a little comic relief, photos of the filmmakers hugging their own dogs over the end credits, and some happy tears from the audience. The movie is based on a book of the same name by journalist Pauls Toutonghi, son-in-law of John Marshall and brother-in-law of Fielding. The screenplay by Nick Santora skillfully smooths out the story, with strong control of tone by director Stephen Herek, a fine score by Emily Bear, and cinematographer Michael Martinez making the best possible use of the beautiful Georgia landscape that stands in for a Virginia setting.

Fielding is a senior in college when he decides to cure a broken heart by going to the pound, where he instantly falls in love with a beautiful, cream-colored puppy he names Gonker. They have a blissful school year together until Fielding realizes the day before graduation that everyone else in his class has a good job lined up, while he is still trying to figure out what kind of job he can do. After missing graduation, because he and Gonker overslept, Fielding moves back home.
