Helen and Jackson live together in New York City. At the beginning of the film, the two are driving towards the Kentucky farmhouse, Kilronan, where Jackson grew up, primarily to introduce Helen to Jackson's mother, Martha, during the Christmas holidays. They arrive late in the evening and go straight to bed. The next morning Helen awakens to Martha arranging the room, as she thought Helen was asleep in the other bedroom. During their stay Martha tries to convince Jackson to stay to help her run the farm. Helen notices that Martha cleans their room and arranges their things every day, including Helen's contraceptive.

He takes her home to Virginia to meet his mother, Martha (Jessica Lange) and see the family spread, named Kilronan--a famous horse farm with main house that looks as if Thomas Jefferson either designed it, or meant to. The house is large, elaborately decorated and eerie, but then we knew it would be eerie because the music over the opening titles is "Hush, Little Baby,'' and that's a song only used in horror films.

The general outlines of this scheme are visible early in the film, and the details grow more graphic, right up until a "push! push!'' childbirth scene that is given a whole new spin. What's frustrating is that little of the evil-doing would be possible if Jackson behaved at any moment like a normal, intelligent person. He consistently does the wrong thing just because the film needs him to.

The film's most intriguing element is the performance by Jessica Lange, who by not going over the top provides Martha with a little pathos to leaven the psychopathology. That side of her doesn't seem consistent with her demented behavior at a crucial moment, but then consistency is not the film's strong point.

The purpose of this study is to observe the capability of multi absorber of CaCl2 and KMnO4 trapped into rice hush matrix in absorbing water vapor and ethylene. In this study, CaCl2 and KMnO4 solutions with mol ratio of 1 : 2; 2 : 1; 1 : 3 and control (with CaCl2(1 mol) or KMnO4(1 mol)) were impregnated into the matrix. The experiment resulted that the ratio of CaCl2 (1 mol): KMnO4 (3mol) was able to absorb KMnO4 as much as 0.89 mg ethylene per 3 g absorber for 1 h of exposure. It also worked for absorbing water vapor as much as 1.03 g/g absorber for 7 days of storage at RH97%. Based on this experiment, the multi absorber resulted from this research is potential to be applied as ethylene and water vapor absorber.

Each antimicrobial activity was carried out by in vitro assay using the disk diffusion method (diameter 5 mm). The best edible film resulted from 4% starch acetate with high tensile strength (1.635 MPa) and elongation (49.101%) values.
