Note: This version does not contain the Zoom integration for exam proctoring or exam support which was contained in SEB 3.2rc. There is a non-public SEB Alliance Edition, which continues to support Zoom integration. If you are interested to use this Zoom integration, please contact alliance@safeexambrowser.org.

See release notes for complete list of new features and changes. Check out the SEB for iOS manual which explains all features (currently being updated). In addition, we published a first version of a tutorial which will help exam administrators to better understand how to configure and use SEB for iOS. It also includes how SEB for iOS can be used together with the Apple Classroom app. More topics will be added to this tutorial over time.

A stand-alone tool to manually verify the integrity of a Safe Exam Browser installation on Windows. This application is intended for use cases like BYOD exams where candidates have complete control over their systems and thus could be trying to use a manipulated build of Safe Exam Browser to perform an exam.

Exam proctors/invigilators can use SEB Verificator to make sure candidates are using an original, unmanipulated SEB version in BYOD exams (on location). For example use a USB stick drive with SEB Verificator on it and either check randomly some or all student devices and start the correct SEB version, optionally also with a specific configuration file.

The quiz has built in settings to allow secure exams using the Safe Exam Browser. Safe Exam Browser is offered under a Mozilla Public Licence. The application is available for Windows, macOS and iOS as open source software.

Safe Exam Browser is a customised web browser, available for Windows (7, 8.1, 10), macOS (starting 10.7, recommended 10.11 or newer) and iOS (9.3.5 or newer). The application must be downloaded and installed on the device that the student uses to attempt the quiz. The restrictions placed on students are similar to those in the quiz Extra restrictions on attempts > Browser security "Full screen pop-up with some JavaScript security" case, but because Safe Exam Browser is software running on the student's computer, it can do a much more effective job of restricting their actions.

I used Composer to package the app in the Applications folder (755 root:wheel permissions) and pushed it out. For our scenario, we didn't need settings always configured so we had the .seb file for this specific exam packaged and pushed out to the /Users/Shared/ folder for the students to launch when the test took place.

We do not. Fortunately, all of the tests we support now use commercial secure testing browsers (NWEA/MAP, BlueBook, Respondus, etc). What is the difficulty you're having? it does look to be fully supported still.

Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a reliable, free, and useful internet browser environment to conduct online assessments securely. The education program transforms a basic computer into a secure workstation. In order to support an anti-cheat mechanism, the tool controls access to various resources, including system functions, access to third-party apps, etc. This helps prevent unauthorized access to resources during an examination.

Simply put, SEB is a teaching software and training tool developed by Educational Development and Technology (LET) and ETH Zurich. With this utility program, you can temporarily turn a workstation into a secure testing system, which runs smoothly in the form of a web browser environment. Compared to Respondus, NANO, and BriskBard, this program has a major advantage in the education domain.

Safe Exam Browser is a hassle-free web browser environment to conduct online examinations securely. The program transforms a computer into a secure system. In addition to this, it regulates access to a range of resources, such as third-party applications, websites, system functions, and more.

SEB runs smoothly on a local Windows computer. It uses an internet connection to build a secure link with a learning management system (LMS). In most cases, SEB is compatible with leading web-based LMS or other online exam systems. For instance, learning management systems like OpenOLAT, ILIAS, and Moodle feature a quiz mode compatible with the program.

The teaching software comes with three components. The main components include a browser interface and a kiosk application. These run on an exam tablet or computer. The kiosk app locks the exam device, while the browser component communicates over a LAN or internet connection with the quiz module on a server.

Most online exam tools contain a range of quiz modules, which can be used to conduct online examinations and assessments. Safe Exam Browser relies on skins or extensions to the quiz modules in ILIAS or Moodle for secure access. While using these extensions, the user interface of the learning management system is reduced to only contain navigation features and skip undesirable functionalities like messaging.

With this training tool, an exam can be configured to run just with SEB, not any other internet browser. Earlier, the SEB and LMS extensions had to be installed separately to achieve such connectivity. With Safe Exam Browser, these have been integrated into the latest versions of various learning management systems.

With a comprehensive authentication feature, the learning management system can verify that a specific, unchanged SEB version and accurate exam settings are used for assessment. This leads to secure and fair online examinations, especially when almost everyone today is now working or studying remotely.

The latest version of Safe Exam Browser is a unified platform, which comes with a range of new features, a simplified exam system interface, and compatible configuration files. The program takes into account various operating system differences and ensures seamless integration on all devices.

As compared to the Windows version, the online exam tool for iOS and macOS is available in the form of a monolithic application. It uses an internet browser framework instead of the standard browser runtime. Additionally, it uses the reliable WebKit engine, which also works with Safari and other leading open-source web browsers. Apart from this, the iOS and macOS version of SEB connects to learning management systems in the same way as the counterpart.

The education program allows teachers to restrict students from accessing resources and tools while taking an online examination or assessment. While using this training tool, students are unable to access other websites, apps, system tools, search functions, and programs. Considering everything, Safe Web Browser is a good choice for hassle-free e-assessments and online examinations.

A screen will appear that looks like a regular exam screen, but there is no exam time since it is available on demand. Finally, launch the exam like any other, clicking the acknowledgment and then launching the exam.

To ensure a private and secure exam environment, Aquifer requires its online multiple-choice exams to be administered on computers configured with a secure exam browser. A secure exam browser temporarily restricts the computer from using any other browser for the duration of the exam, preventing the access of other websites or files. The secure exam browser application used by Aquifer is called Safe Exam Browser.

If you plan to take an Aquifer exam using your own desktop or laptop, you will need to spend a few minutes installing and testing the Safe Exam Browser. This applies to students taking exams for:

Follow these steps to install software that will prevent access to other websites or files during your exam. These files are only intended to be used while you are testing the Safe Exam Browser or taking your exam.

Safe Exam Browser is a web browser environment to deliver digital assessments safely and securely. The browser temporarily creates a secure workstation by preventing access to unapproved resources such as websites, local files, and system functions during an exam.

If you are completing an on-campus examination using Inspera, you will need to download and install Safe Exam Browser on your personal laptop. If you encounter any issues with Safe Exam Browser, please refer to the Troubleshooting Safe Exam Browser guide or contact AskUs for support.

Note: If you have Alternative Exam Arrangements and require access to hardware or software (such as screen readers and dyslexia font extensions), contact Diversity, Disability and Inclusion to discuss how these technologies can be used in your on-campus examination.

You will need administrative privileges to install Safe Exam Browser. If you do not have these privileges or are unsure, contact your local IT support. Follow the installation instructions, as seen below. Please note step 6, as it details how to exit the lockdown browser. If you are currently using Safe Exam Browser version 1.7.1, you should uninstall it before installing this new version.

5. To test the Safe Exam Browser, open the program. This should open the lockdown browser and start on the UT High School Online CBE login screen. Students will login to this page when they are ready to take their online exam. If an error appears that says "Third Party Application Not Found," just click OK. 2351a5e196
