I'm going to assume no one has found a solution to this one yet? I'm in the process of testing out ACAD 2023 to rollout in my company and my ACAD currently has 8 instances of edge-webview2 running with a single (almost entirely empty) drawing open.

I can confirm that whatever the edge web extension is, it causes autocad to hang. If you open task manager and just 'end task" on the edge portion everything seems to bounce back at least for a bit. I'm not seeing any ill effects from killing it. Save your drawing.

Since the creation of the Office Add-ins framework, add-ins running in Office on Windows used a web viewer control that leveraged elements of Internet Explorer 11. While it was cutting edge at the time, web development standards have continued to evolve.

When I did place the webview in the top-level frame or even panel in said frame, the whole app would lock up as soon as there was user interaction with the webview, interestingly, the webpage still loaded. No issues with IE Backend, or Webkit (when running on macOS) with the same code.

Version issues maybe? What version of Edge are you running? Looking at the webview downloads page, they list specific versions and architectures and they appear to match with versions of Edge. I would make sure you have versions/architectures that match.

When running the game itself wine opens a popup and starts the installer for Webview, the installer can download the files but then hangs in "installing webview" for about one hour before failing with the message "failed to install". No error code, I don't really know where to start debugging, wine's AppDB says it should work fine.

I've tried downloading the installer manually, creating a new prefix, installing webview before the game and using a 32 bit prefix, nothing worked. Here is the terminal output, using wine version 8.13 and kernel 6.4.6-arch1-1.

The Evergreen Runtime is required when distributing apps targeting Edge Chromium. Microsoft plans on providing the runtime through Windows updates in the future, but for now, an additional installation is required. By default the stable version that already comes with Windows updates is copied by our source implementation, but unfortunately there seems to be issues using this method, therefore the alternative (and what Microsoft recommends) is to install the evergreen runtime. This should be sufficient to allow the TTMSFNCWebBrowser load and initialize edge chromium. Can you also specify which version of Edge Chromium you are using? Do you see an initialization message inside the browser component at designtime?

Each time I reboot my Windows machine, I notice that Microsoft Edge WebView2 requested access to my webcam (see screenshot). The file requesting access is C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\###.#.####.##\msedgewebview2.exe where '#' is a numeric digit.

To open a Web view file in a web browser, navigate to the folder that contains the Web view files, then open the webview.html file. For details about where the files are located and how they are packaged, see Web View Files. You might need to configure your browser to open Web views.

Thanks for the quick feedback. So can I un-install the edge, webview and Visual C++ (installed at the same time) and continue with Bandlab assistant ? I use Firefox and don't like installing un-necessary software, as my PC is old, full and slow.

Anybody have experience getting webview2 working in Wine? I've had good luck with Windows plugins/Wine/yabridge. So I bought a new one from HorNet that has no GUI. They said their newer plugins need the latest webview to work. Is it a matter of downloading and installing through Wine's interface? I would install the fixed version; sure don't need any microsoft stuff automatically updating. e24fc04721
