Ok, so I changed my code to build for x64. This makes dxdiag automatically start the as the 64-bit version. Then I could just take away the 64bit switch and suddenly everything works as I would expect.

I want to create a DxDiag report that shows up right in the command prompt with a .bat file. I suppose a viable way of doing this is to create the dxdiag .txt file and display the text contained in it in the CMD window by opening the file with the 'more' command. How do I generate the dxdiag .txt file via a batch file?

Way 3. Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter to open Command Prompt. Type dxdiag.exe in CMD and press Enter to run dxdiag application on Windows 10/11.

When I check my system specs in msinfo32, I see that I've got 256 MB "Adapter RAM" under System Summary -> Components -> Display. However, dxdiag reports 2025 MB "Approximate Total Memory" on the "Display" tab.

This depends on how paranoid you want to be. The dxdiag.txt file generated by using the Direct X Diagnostic utility will contain a lot of information about your computer and depending on the type of user you are, one particular thing may directly identify you (if you're the kind of person to name your PC Zachiel-PC).

I posted this question here because I was looking for more general information about DirectX and DXDIAG, not so much just getting it to work in PE. Its difficult to search for "blank messagebox dxdiag" because the results are so all over the place. I imagine that it would be possible to get DXDIAG to do this in any OS.

The dxdiag program isn't really of any immediate use to us in wine/crossover,

for the most part due to disparities in the driver layers...ie; dxdiag is expecting

to see windows sound/video drivers, replete with all bells&whistles. This is not

what is presented to the app from wine/cxwine...ie; my HD5670 video card on the Mac

often turns up as an Ati 3200, and that said, all video drivers are equal which it

comes to consider our platforms...that is, Mac, linux, *bsd and such...another example

would be I have 100's of apps running in Crossover that dxdiag says won't run =)

There is a WineHQ for dxdiag, and I do recall seeing some howto about somewhere on

how to make it run, but like I say, it doesn't prove very much as the results it

obtains are often meaningless...see;

I have Intel i7 4770 4th Generation Processor(with Intel HD Graphics 4600) and ASRock H97M Pro4 motherboard(Windows 8.1 Enterprise). I have installed the latest drivers. But whenever i open DirectX Diagnostic Tool, (dxdiag) it does not show Intel HD Graphics 4600. However it does show in Device Manager.

Try dxdiag - exits without success - WineHQ Forums

What game is this? If the tech support guys aren't versed in Linux gaming you may end up wasting your time. In that case I recommend searching/asking Linux - WineHQ Forums or GamersOnLinux

Some of us here may also be able to help you without you having to visit those forums.

If you want to submit a ticket for a PC related issue, you can expedite the process by sending in your dxdiag and msinfo32 system files. These files report information about system drivers for your video and sound cards, as well as other vital information about your computer hardware that will help us resolve your problem.

Finding and saving a DxDiag file:

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows Key and the R Key (Win+R) at the same time.

 2. In the Run box that pops up, type dxdiag and click OK.

The first two phase of the dxdiag direct3d test looks right, but the third phase displays the cube with gray sides, mixed with white frames. The AGP texture acceleration button is inactive in dxdiag.

Doesn't the dxdiag 3D test run through DX7, DX8, and DX9? Current 3D support is limited to DX8.1, so it's not a surprise the third one doesn't work. Not sure what the AGP texture acceleration button does. 2351a5e196
