Just installed Ubuntu 18.04 and checked the need for additional drivers via HW Probe. Here the results, and as you can see the driver for the graphic card doesn't properly work. I should change the parameters of the kernel. Can you suggest me how to do it without screwing it?

We need more info about that adapter to even see what it is. Use inxi -Nxxx and lspci -nn to show the device with its chipset so we can tell which driver is needed, and if there is one available to support that exact adapter.

This is an extension of the same thread. Your first answer was so very good (until now) that I came back. Every new kernel update, I would recompile the driver. Then with the 6.1 kernels it would not compile. I am wiilling to accept many solutions especially if ehe network card is or soon will be supported (the 6.0 kernel still works). Here is the url of the driver

Today I used external LCD with my netbook. The display changed to 1024x768 as the display was changed to UB4A. All apps of windows 8 were working very well. It remained working till I removed the cable and restarted it. It again became Mobile PC Display. Please is it possible to engage this driver option permanently. Thanks

The Windows 7 DVD is staring, Win7 setup is starting and when it comes to Hard Drive options it says that no drive was detected and i should try search for drivers. It shows me this window: Screenshot from web

When i select the SATA AHCI Driver it does not find any drivers. When i uncheck the checkbox "Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware on this computer" it shows one driver: Acer HWID (path_to\1.inf). When i continue with this driver i got an error message that says something like: No new devices found. Check if the driver files are on the installation disk.

The last time I needed this facility was when my OS was W8.1 and I remember the audio driver was Intel (R) Display Audio 6.16.0.3174. I'm now using W10 and my display adapter is using Intel (R) HD Graphics Famly 10.18.14.4282 which I think incorporates Display Audio 6.16.0.3174. My Sound Controllers under W10 include Windows High Definition Audio Service which I think is suppressing/overriding Intel Display Audio.

Thanks for this Stefan. It seems in Germany you are very lucky.. I've attached my equivalent screenshot. You'll see that your Audio-, Video- und Gamecontroller entry shows Intel (R) Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio. Mine contains (Microsoft) High Definition Audio Device and Realtek High Definition Audio. And that is what believe my problem is. The (MS) HD Audio Device prevents the Intel Display Audio driver from running and prevents my TV from appearing as a device for audio playback. It's the same for other TVs that I've tested - Panasonic and LG.

Then just to verify that it was realtek I tried both the latest realtek driver and codec and the one that came from factory. Both were mediocre. So I'am letting Microsoft driver do the job which is far better.

It is best to give first priority to Acer Laptop drivers and Apps including its own Acer AMD VGA Driver which were made to be 100% compatible with your laptop and to use all of your Acer's Laptop features.

One thing I do note which is obvious to me, but probably not to you, is you MUST remove alsa-driver-unstable-kmp-default. Many times having alsa-driver-unstable-kmp-default installed at the same time as alsa-driver-kmp-default WILL BREAK a users sound.

The first time i gave the command it gave me a URL:

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh

ALSA-Info script has been updated to v

Please re-run the script

I have to go through some variation of this process, Windows breaking my Bluetooth drivers, every few weeks/months. Just long enough for me to forget the optimal way to restore these.Anyhow, I hope that fixes it for you too!

Do you have installed bluez and bluez-utils? If no install them running: sudo pacman -S bluez bluez-utils Load the generic bluetooth driver: sudo modprobe btusb Then start the bluetooth.service sudo systemctl start bluetooth To make sure...

@Sonik :

There are a few nForce RAID drivers (e.g. v10.6.0.23 and v10.6.0.24), which do support the HardwareIDs of your on-board nForce Serial ATA Controller after the switch to "RAID", but I doubt, that you will realize any performance gain while runnng your system drive in RAID mode. Furthermore you will not be able to boot into Win7 in RAID mode without repairing the boot sector or doing a reinstall of the OS.

If I were you, I would stick with the IDE mode and use the Win7 in-box MS IDE driver.

Big advantage, if you use an SSD: TRIM will work with the MS IDE driver, but not with any nForce SATA IDE or RAID driver.

If you could not find the exact driver for your hardware device or you aren't sure which driver is right one, we have a program that will detect your hardware specifications and identify the correct driver for your needs. Please click here to download.

I have an Acer Aspire on which I installed Linux Mint 17.2. The touchpad does not work at all; xinput doesn't even list any touchpad unit at all. Probably a driver issue, is there some way to make it work?

To get the latest driver, including Windows 11 drivers, you can choose from the above list of most popular Acer downloads. Click the "Download driver" button next to the matching model name. After you complete your download, move on to Step 2.

If your driver is not listed and you know the model name or number of your Acer device, you can use it to search our driver archive for your Acer device model. Simply type the model name and/or number into the search box and click the Search button. You may see different versions in the results. Choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Once you download your new driver, then you need to install it. To install a driver in Windows, you will need to use a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

If you are having trouble installing your driver, you should use the Driver Update Utility for Acer. It is a software utility that automatically finds, downloads and installs the right driver for your system. You can even backup your drivers before making any changes, and revert back in case there were any problems. You can safely update all of your drivers in just a few clicks. Once you download and run the utility, it will scan for out-of-date or missing drivers:

While you can download and install Drivers manually, as shown by the steps above, the process can be cumbersome and challenging, especially if you need to download a number of Drivers. You can automate the process by using a Driver Update Tool such as DriverDownloader. Some of the advantages of using a driver update tool are:
