If the operating system does not detect the camera, you must first make sure that the camera drivers are installed. In addition, do not forget that manufacturers of webcams strongly recommend installing the latest drivers. If you do not have the CD and installation files for your webcam, first of all, try to find them on the manufacturer's official website. If you could not find them there, do not hesitate to download free webcam drivers from our website.

We just got two new computers. They have Windows 7 Professional 64bit installed on them so we're stuck using that (I was going to install labview in XP Mode but there is no support for firewire...so that won't work either). After finally getting labview installed (had to run the setup.exe from Distributions\LabVIEW-ENG\LabVIEW861\ rather than doing the autorun) we can't get this camera to work. It works fine with the PixeLINK driver (and the Capture OEM program that comes with it).

3) Start up MAX. It detects the camera and shows it under NI-IMAQdx Devices. Upon clicking on the camera, it informs me that the device selected is not currently associated with either the Legacy NI-IMAQ for IEEE driver or the NI-IMAQdx driver. This is all fine, it's supposed to do that.

5) It then disappears from MAX (no NI-IMAQdx Devices folder anymore). If I goto windows Device Manager, it shows up under National Instruments IMAQ Interfaces as NI-IMAQdx IIDC Digital Camera, so the driver did get switched properly, it just doesn't show up in MAX anymore...

The other option is to install one of the Microsoft IEEE 1394 OHCI Complient Host controller. drivers. Here The vinba software can no longer see the camera but The camera then appears under the national instruments IMAQ interfaces. It also does not appear in NI MAX. See microsoft.png.

If I change the NI-IMAQdx IIDC Digital camera driver to a generic 1394 Desktop Camera (See NI IMAQdx options.png) the device moves up into the Imaging devices folder and appears in NI-MAX as shown in Generic state.png but the camera will not run as it requests that you right click and install the NI IMAQdx driver see IMAQdx error.png. Id I then right click and install either of the IMAQdx drivers (15 or 19.5 are installed) the camera dissapears and everything goes back to how it looked in Microsoft.png.

I am having the same issue with a IEEE 1394b camera in LabVIEW 2018 SP1. I downgraded Vision Aquisition Software to 19.5 and ran a rapair on NI IMAQdx but to no avail. Reinstalling IMAQdx driver didn't help either. The camera dissapears from NI MAX as soon as I change back from the generic driver.

Hello everyone, I just ordered online a telescope eyepiece usb smart webcam. It arrived and the CD rom was broken. It is a generic one and I was curious if anyone could point me in the right direction to find any software drivers for this. I contacted the site (like amazon in Thailand) and waiting for their response. I have no way of contacting the seller:(

Yes I have and it gives me errors. I used the camera app that is already a part of windows 10. I was just curious if there might be any software online I can download to use this. I will look at Celestron, Meade, etc and see if they have software.

I've had good luck on AliExpress. Bought this 1.2MP mono camera with a C-mount and AR130 sensor for about $45. Works fine with generic UVC/OTG drivers, but only up to 0.5 second (or was it 1 second) maximum exposure time.

I have SONY laptop SZ280P and have not had any issues with FireWire connectivity. One must first install Canon Software so that Canon drivers are resident in Windows system; thereafter, when connecting camera Windows will recognize camera and establish connectivity. HAve you tried to connect with the supplied USB cable?

If you diddled a bit and did not follow the instructions, permitting Windows to use a genric driver, rather than having the system USE Canon's deivers, this too will be an issue. If this is the problem, start over by removing the driver from the Device Manager, then reboot, then install Canon software again, then connect the camera and USE the Canon supplied driver, not the Windows generic digital camera driver...

Thank you everyone for all your great replies and efforts to help solve the problem. I do have the right Canon drivers installed so it should work and I have tried it with a USB connection and it detects the camera so it seems drivers are OK. I have also tried the Sony notebook's firewire connection with a Lacie drive and it detects it right away so it seems the firewire port is active and not blocked as well.

Thank you Andre. No, it is not even responding at all. All I get is that indication of a driver type conflict in the Device Manager window. On another forum though a guy just mentioned he is using a 37 foot cable (which would be just over 11 meters) with his 1D and he said no problem. I am not sure how long the cable is which came with the camera, but it seems pretty long as well. Also, you can see a screen shot below of the conflict I am getting in the device manager when the camera is hooked up to the laptop via the firewire port:

If you right click on the EOS-1ds device and choose properties, then go to the Driver tab, you can try uninstalling the driver, reboot, then try installing it again by plugging in the camera and following the Hardware Installation Wizard. Also check the Canon installation instructions to see if you need to do things in a certain sequence (software inatall, then plug in camera or plug in camera during software install). Also, are there any firmaware updates addressing any connection issues?

I tried to find a download of this driver on the canon support page and the web, without success. The Windows driver update does not find any working driver neither. The SD card reader won't work for me since I need the camera to be properly detected by the system to use it as a webcam.

There is no driver because no driver is required. The screen you show is just a generic Windows screen. Windows 10 sees my very old 1D Mk IIn with no problem or driver needed. Just because a Win 7 saw the camera has nothing to do with your current issue. Something else is wrong. Bad port, bad cable, who knows but Win 10 is able to see it.

Kernel device drivers consist of some generic hardware loaded with the operating system (OS) as part of the OS. They include motherboards, processors, and BIOS. They are invoked and loaded into the random-access memory (RAM) when required. When several of them are operating at the same time, the machine can slow down. Thus, there is a minimum requirement for each OS.

Device drivers can be categorized as generic or OEM-related. Generic drivers refer to device drivers with their operating software bundled into the OEM hardware. One can use generic drivers with different brands of a particular device type. For instance, Linux works with several generic drivers that function without the need to install any other software manually.

A digital camera driver is a program that allows communication between it and other devices, such as computers. Without the drivers, the OS will not detect this device. Most digital cameras are only compatible with the Windows OS, as Linux systems lag.

Digital camera drivers allow for the transfer of photos from the camera to the computer. They enable digital cameras to print photos using the PictBridge standard directly to a PictBridge-capable computer printer without needing a computer. Drivers in the video output port allow users to display pictures on television by selecting one video or photo at a time.

A digitally signed driver includes a digital signature, which is an electronic security mark that indicates the publisher of software and whether someone has tampered with it since it was signed. If a driver has been signed by a publisher that has verified its identity with a certification authority, you can be confident that the driver comes from that publisher and hasn't been changed.

If you see any of the following notifications when you're installing a driver, you should stop the installation and go to your device manufacturer's website to get a digitally signed driver for your device.

The driver doesn't have a digital signature or has been signed with a digital signature that wasn't verified by a certification authority. You should only install this driver if you got it from the manufacturer's disc or from your system administrator.

The driver hasn't been digitally signed by a verified publisher. The driver might have been changed to include malware that could harm your PC or steal info. In rare cases, legitimate publishers do change drivers after they've been digitally signed, but you should only install an unsigned driver if you got it from a device manufacturer's disc.

Unfortunately, there's no trustworthy source of info that indicates who has published an unsigned driver. Anyone can change the contents of an unsigned driver, and there's no way to know why it was changed. Most manufacturers now digitally sign the drivers they create before releasing them to the public.

A driver that lacks a valid digital signature, or has a signature that was changed after it was signed, can't be installed on 64-bit versions of Windows. You'll only see this notification if you have a 64-bit version of Windows and try to install such a driver on it.

Under I found another archive. Internet research showed that is730enu.exe should be the correct driver package. When I decompress the .exe and do a driver search over the folder the device manager could not find a driver. When I select specific .inf files from the folder Windows said the file is not compatible. It is a USB webcam and I think a generic driver should exist, what can I do.

I will try the cam at a later time on Linux. I think vendors should provide a generic driver for such devices (we will see how long the manufactured and directly branded China devices will work under Windows). It would help to save the environment.
