I'm trying to do something fairly easy in Affinity Photo and I can't make it happen.

If I copy an image from one document and then paste it in another (in Photoshop) it pastes it in the middle. However, if I try the same operation in Affinity Photo it pastes it in the upper left corner. Is there any way to paste something exactly in the middle.

What is a bit odd is if you copy the file from Finder (This may also be true for Windows Explorer) by right-clicking and selecting Copy, and then paste it into the document it will paste in the centre.

I have a series of templates that I use to print my photos with a white border. For example, I have one that's 13" X 19" that I use for 12" X 18" images. So what I normally used to do in Photoshop was to copy the 12" X 18" image and paste it on the 13" X 19" file. Then I would export the 13" X 19 image as a JPEG and print it to my Canon PIXMA pro 100. The result would be a 12" X 18" photo with a " border all around.

If you paste to a smaller document where the original X,Y coordinates of the object would be pasted outside the canvas area of the new document then the object will be pasted in the center of the document.

Affinity always tries to do a "Paste in Place" by default, to preserve the X,Y coordinates of the original object (which is usually very useful). But if the original object's X,Y coordinates are outside the boundaries of the new document then by default Affinity will paste the object centered in the new document.

ok, so this issue seems to have gotten worse from what people described. it pastes in the center of your window, not your canvas. I'm just updating the render and i have re-align it every time, very annoying.

I wish the people at Affinity would come out with a way to install Adobe plugins straight into Affinity Photo. Oh, and the fact that when you paste something it doesn't land in the middle is annoying too.

Hi all,

I searched under "cut and paste" etc. but don't see what I'm looking for.

I have three kids in one photo. Two near each other, the other that is too far away from the two. Can I cut and paste the one child closer to the other two in Lightroom or am I out of luck?

Also, is it possible to increase canvas size/ clone in extra background area in Lightroom? I have a photo taken at an angle, that when rotated, can't get "straight" as the client wants, without cropping a part of the child.

If these questions have been asked before, sorry to bother you, would you mind simply pointing me to that discussion thread?

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much. That looks wonderful and easy. Although when I copy (ctrl+c on PC) a small test few 3 image attachments, it shows on bottom left that 3 cells copied, which is good. Then I paste (ctrl+v on PC) into a new column/field, and while it does show on bottom left that it is pasting, they do not show up as pasted - the new cells remain empty. This has been occurring for a while before I wrote this post and same result when I tested it following your kind post reply.

This problem is quite anoting since now you can't quickly add an image you find on a website or something you draw with another sketching app (sometimes sketching an image or diagram is important). A workaround is to save the image to camera roll and then insert the image from camera roll in Paper, but (1) inserting image is a 2 step process where you have to choose between take a photo vs from library, (and sometimes 3 steps since you have to choose a folder from photo library); (2) having to save a temporary image into photos clutters your photo library (and probably also your google photos library if you have auto upload there) since these are just temp images meant to be embedded into notes but not for photo libraries.

The Photo Browser option helps you browse through existing photo sets on your computer, such as photos in iPhoto or Photo Booth. Picture from File lets you browse through your computer's file structure to look for photos.

You can insert a picture or photo into the body of an email message, instead of attaching the file. Inserting a picture requires that your message uses HTML formatting. To set HTML formatting, select Options > HTML.

I have been transferring my Powerpoints to Prezi by hand, and have had no issues copying and pasting images until yesterday. What is wrong? I am using the Ctrl+V shortcut to paste as I always have but nothing happens.

Maybe I'm missing something in the question but I can do it by double-clicking the photo in Photos to view it and then use command C (or Edit menu - Copy) and then use command V or Edit menu Paste in Word.

Actual copy and paste may or may not work depending on the version of Photos and of Word that you have - and gives you a undefined quality that may be much lower that the original - the methods I suggest will work with any version and gives you control of the image qualtiy

This is crazy! I love the throw-away line 'you don't!' - meaning 'you can't' - meaning 'the software is useless'. I always used to be able to copy and paste (and drag and drop) from iPhoto, and now nothing works. Even with the 'option' key (unhelpfully labelled 'alt') I can get a nice green circle with the plus sign in it showing the successful movement of the image, but then releasing the mouse the photo just jumps straight back to where it was.

The only way that works for me is the hugely unhelpful creation of a completely new folder into which I export the jpeg and then I can get the photo from there! Life was easier on my original Apple ][e! Where has all the functionality gone? Where is the 'Copy' option on the menu? Nowhere!

Can you advise a decent photo library system for Mac? All I need is something that will store my photos, that I can organise under the headings that I want, that I can index and from which I can cut and paste and drag and drop...

Photos 3.0 and Word 15.40 doesn't allow drag and drop, and no 'copy' facility at all on Photos - why not? Surely the most basic thing about our photographs is that we want to copy them! We might just as well be back in the Box Brownie era!

Hi, and welcome to the forums. I just tested, and found that this is working for me. There have been a couple of reports (here and here) of failure to paste into the Web version of Evernote, but you're using the Windows desktop program. Assuming that image pasting is working in other programs, and that the problem is not related to the source of the image (Web, other program, local drive), you might try closing Evernote completely (File > Exit; or use the Task Manager; the red X box only closes the interface), and then restarting it. This sometimes clears up snafus in memory. Options past that include rebooting the computer and reinstalling Evernote. But hopefully it won't come to that.

I've seen this sometimes though note often. Workaround I've used when I can't Ctrl+V into a note is to paste to desktop and then drag to the note. PITA but seem to work. Same on tholse occasions when I can't drag from EN to another app, desktop as intermediary.

After removing some old programs I no longer needed, doing a malware scan, and some other cleanup, I concluded some sort of database corruption might be the cause. I deleted ALL .exb files and let the client rebuild them. Copy-n-paste now works, and so does drag-n-drop.

Has anyone ever had the issue of not being able to paste settings from one photo to another within the develop panel in lightroom classic? I have been using this program for years and have never had this bug before. I just purchased a new laptop and was working on some photo edits and had been copying and pasting develop settings to other various photos all day and then all of the sudden I was unable to actually paste the settings in the develop view. If I copy the settings from one photo, then click on the library tab, I can then paste the settings. After doing this if I navigate back to the develop tab I can see that the photo settings have been pasted. I have tried resetting preferences, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, installing older versions of the app, restarting my machine etc. Has anyone ever experienced this that can provide any sort of insight?

In Develop, were you trying to paste to multiple photos in the filmstrip that weren't the current photo? The rules for how LR handles multiple selected photos are confusing and inconsistent. When in Loupe view (single photo showing in Develop or Library), many commands like Paste only work on the most-selected (current) photo.

A workaround is to right-click the selected photos in the filmstrip and do Develop Settings > Paste. (Some people here will suggest Auto-Sync, but I highly recommend staying away from that unless you thoroughly research it and know the risks -- Auto-Sync has ended in tears for many posting here.) 006ab0faaa
