I have been privileged to test job candidates for Microsoft Excel proficiency in two of the companies I have worked and currently working in and my observations have been interesting. I have tested over 80 persons in my experience and hopefully, that number will still be counting in the near future. I will like to share my observations with those who may be interested in it.

In my testing experience, I have met with candidates who knew the right function to use for a task but could not reference the right inputs to get the desired result. Poor knowledge of the structure of Microsoft Excel functions and stretched application of such knowledge are likely the cause in this regard. Today's example draws on a recent email I had and would make a great Excel test e.g. as part of a job interview I think - I have seen exactly that done before. I'd even award a big bonus point to the person who knew enough to just tell me that you could get to the answer slightly faster by using Sumproduct's hidden super power: simple but deadly amalgamation with Sumproduct.

I wanna know if it is possible to automatically create sequence files from excel test suites which contains actions and expected results then execute them in Teststand, without having to do that manually which takes tremendous amount of time.

A potential alternative to generating all of these files would be to create a superset of your tests, use the property loader to import a list of test & limits from your excel file, and only run the necessary sequences from your sequence file.

what i want to do is turn existing test suites and test cases to TestStand format in order to do Hardware in The Loop testing, for example for an action putting a set_tag, for a check a get_tag, putting labels... and all of that programatically without doing it manually.

4. Have no idea and found no materials on how to import STEPS. I can import using "simple import", but each new line is a new test case. That's not what i want, i'd love to have one file as a test case, having several lines as test steps. All the links around "help", "support" and "community" areas are either broken or not found. I am trying to find differentially expressed genes in microarray data. I preferred to do this using excel because I did not know how to do it in R (performing large number of t-tests simultaneously). Just for clarification, do you need just the status of executed tests or all results of executed tests whith the Action, the expected result, its related actual result and the status of these instances?
