The SRD program seeks to fund cooperative agreements to engage in demonstrations that will improve the operational safety of rail transit services in the U.S. FTA is particularly interested in proposals to prevent and mitigate suicide and trespassing hazards on rail transit systems, and proposals to improve the operational safety of shared corridor fixed guideway systems, including highway-rail grade crossing safety.

The SRD Program is a research demonstration program and not a capital procurement program. The project proposals must include a research/synthesis phase, development phase and a demonstration phase. All phases are critical to project selection.

The Healthy Soils Program aims to increase statewide implementation of conservation management practices that improve soil health, sequester carbon and reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs). The HSP Demonstration Grant funds on-farm demonstration projects that collect data, showcase conservation management practices and create a platform promoting widespread adoption of conservation management practices throughout the state.

Section 1115 of the Social Security Act gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services authority to approve experimental, pilot, or demonstration projects that are found by the Secretary to be likely to assist in promoting the objectives of the Medicaid program. The purpose of these demonstrations, which give states additional flexibility to design and improve their programs, is to demonstrate and evaluate state-specific policy approaches to better serving Medicaid populations.

Demonstrations must also be "budget neutral" to the Federal government, which means that, during the course of the project, Federal Medicaid expenditures will not be more than Federal spending without the demonstration. CMS policy requires the demonstration's budget ceiling to be rebased using recent cost data and growth trends at every extension, and will also limit carry-forward of accumulated savings from one approval period to the next.

USDA is committed to expanding direct certification to automatically enroll more students for school meals via additional demonstration projects to expand the evaluation of direct certification with Medicaid (DC-M). USDA has released another Request for Applications to Participate in Demonstration Projects to Evaluate the Direct Certification with Medicaid.

Under the pilot project authority in Section 18(c) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA), 42 USC 1769(c), the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) will conduct additional demonstration projects to expand the evaluation of direct certification with Medicaid (DC-M) for both free and reduced price (f/rp) meal eligibility in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). DC-M is the use of Medicaid data files to identify children eligible to receive meals through the NSLP and SBP at free or reduced price without need of application.

State agencies that administer the NSLP and SBP may apply to participate in the demonstration project to conduct direct certification with Medicaid for both free and reduced price school meals for local education agencies (LEAs) statewide. States that are participating in the free only meal demonstration projects but are interested in conducting direct certification for both free and reduced price meal eligibility in all LEAs may also apply.

State agencies that administer the NSLP and SBP are invited to apply to participate in these demonstration projects to evaluate DC-M. FNS recognizes the challenges and time needed to establish data-sharing agreements and implement system changes so that data matching can begin. This Request for Applications (RFA) provides state agencies time to accomplish those requirements:

USDA's Food and Nutrition Service announced 12 new states approved to participate in the Direct Certification with Medicaid Demonstration Projects for school year (SY) 2023-24: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont and Wyoming. In addition, Pennsylvania has been approved for SY 2023-24 to expand their demonstration project to include reduced price meals. The addition of these states increases access for low-income children while reducing administrative burden for schools and parents/guardians, as well as improving program integrity. The total number of states participating in the demonstration projects will now be 38 as indicated in the table below.

Hiking: Three demonstration trails have been developed with trail guides to inform visitors about the ecology, history and management of the redwood forest. There are also numerous hiking trails situated in historically and ecologically interesting settings, such as the Waterfall Grove Trail and the Forest History Trail.

Jackson Demonstration State Forest is committed to providing innovative demonstrations, experiments and education. The number of acres and breadth of age classes and seral stages contained within JDSF will allow for large landscape level research and demonstrations to complement stand and individual project level work. JDSF will demonstrate the full range of intensity of forest management while maintaining a diversity of stand conditions for future research not yet known. JDSF explicitly acknowledges that forest management is a much broader concept than the growth and yield of merchantable timber. Special concern areas such as riparian and older forest corridors, unusual plant communities, ecological processes, wildlife use of habitat corridors or structural elements, and individual species are all worthy topics for examination within the research and demonstration program.

Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF) is a 48,652 acre working forest. For over 70 years, JDSF staff have been stewards of the forest, practicing sustainable forest management while accommodating hundreds of demonstration and research projects and providing diverse recreational opportunities.

Please note that the Pilot Clean Tech Demonstration Grant Program funds are intended for specific clean tech/clean energy-related demonstration projects (Projects). All expenses submitted as part of the budget proposal must be specifically related to the particular Project for which this grant is sought.

Section 223 creates and evaluates a two-year demonstration program for states to certify community behavioral health clinics. Certified clinics must meet specific criteria emphasizing high-quality care. In 2015, 24 states received planning grants to help them prepare for the demonstration program. Learn more about Section 223. In March 2023, 15 additional States received planning grants.

States participating in the Section 223 Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Demonstration Program are permitted as of February 21, 2023 to add new CCBHCs to their demonstration programs, subject to the following guidance (PDF | 195 KB).

This report focuses on the statutory requirements of Section 223, its implementation, the planning grant that helped states prepare, and the selection of the states to participate in demonstration programs, including activities associated with launching the demonstration programs.

An Act Driving Clean Energy and Offshore Wind (St. 2022, c. 179,  84) requires the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) to establish a demonstration project in which cities and towns may adopt and amend general or zoning ordinances or by-laws that require new building construction or major renovation projects to be fossil fuel-free. The purpose of 225 CMR 24.00 is to establish the framework, requirements, and timeline for cities and towns to participate in the DOER's Municipal Fossil Fuel Free Building Construction and Renovation Demonstration Project as authorized by St. 2022, c. 179,  84.

A political demonstration is an action by a mass group or collection of groups of people in favor of a political or other cause or people partaking in a protest against a cause of concern; it often consists of walking in a mass march formation and either beginning with or meeting at a designated endpoint, or rally, in order to hear speakers. It is different from mass meeting.

Actions such as blockades and sit-ins may also be referred to as demonstrations. Demonstrations can be nonviolent or violent (usually referred to by participants as "militant"), or can begin as nonviolent and turn violent depending on the circumstances. Sometimes riot police or other forms of law enforcement become involved. In some cases, this may be in order to try to prevent the protest from taking place at all.[citation needed] In other cases, it may be to prevent clashes between rival groups, or to prevent a demonstration from spreading and turning into a riot.

Demonstrations can promote a viewpoint (either positive or negative) regarding a public issue, especially relating to a perceived grievance or social injustice. A demonstration is usually considered more successful if more people participate. Research shows that anti-government demonstrations occur more frequently in affluent countries than in poor ones.[2] 17dc91bb1f
