On this episode of Mondays with Mindi we got to the bottom of connection invitations that work like a charm! I shared a few of my favorite formulas, some tips about how to find the right people to reach out to, and a simple way you can keep in touch with your new connections!

I saw someone say they started linkedin at 17 and theyre now in an intership right out of highschool or something but literally how? its actually so awkward when ur new with no job experience and not even in an industry to put in your profile and having nothing to offer

To connect with others, please review your current list of connections and remove those that may no longer bring you value. Once your connection count is below 30,000, you should be able to add more. Learn how to remove connections here:

LinkedIn endorsements are a way for your colleagues and connections to attest to your expertise in a specific field or skill. So the more endorsements you get, the more credible your online profile looks.

LinkedIn groups are dedicated forums where professionals with similar interests, or who work in the same industry, share their knowledge, ask questions, and have conversations about topics they want to learn more about. Joining these groups can help you create new connections, grow partnerships, and show off experience and expertise.

Industry, location, company, name, date of birth, job title, headline, when you connected, and even some special filters like if you had a conversation with them, how many followers they have, or Tags you applied to connections.

Adding connections is a big part of LinkedIn. But unlike most other social media sites, trying to connect with everyone you know can send the wrong signal. Doing so can seem like you're networking for its own sake rather than truly building your professional network. Before you add someone to your network, ask yourself: Would this person talk to me about a job or recommend me to an employer?

To add connections on LinkedIn, select My Network at the top of the screen. A list of people you may know will appear, along with any connection invitations you may have. If you see someone you'd like to connect with, simply click Connect. You can also search for someone and click Connect on their profile.

You'll be able to see your total number of connections in the top-left corner of the My Network page. While some people believe that your LinkedIn profile is only as good as the number of your connections, the quality of your connections is more valuable than the quantity. Having 50 strong connections can do much more for your career than 200 connections you don't know very well. This is just something to consider as you find and add people on LinkedIn.

One of the best ways to bypass the weekly limit is to focus on omnichannel outreach strategies (email AND LinkedIn), go around it by using Open InMails with Sales Navigator, or to scrape lists from LinkedIn, enrich their email info, and export that list back to LinkedIn to connect manually.

You cannot "browse connections." That is, you can only get the connections of the user who granted your application access. You cannot get connections of that user's connections (2nd-degree connections). Access to connections data is subject to the relevant members' privacy settings.

The Connections API does not permit browsing member connections. Connections are only available for the given member who has granted access to your application. 2nd-degree connections, or connections of your member's connections, are not available from LinkedIn.

A Member's total number of 1st-degree connections is returned along with the paging response. To retrieve the number of connections only, use projection syntax to request the paging field. For example:

During some of our initial load testing, we ran into a strange problem where we were unable to open more than approximately 128 concurrent connections at once. Please note that the server could easily hold thousands of concurrent connections, but we could not add more than about 128 connections simultaneously to that pool of connections. In the real world, this would be the equivalent of having 128 members initiate a connection to the same machine at the same time.

This kernel parameter is the size of the backlog of TCP connections waiting to be accepted by the application. If a connection indication arrives when the queue is full, the connection is refused. The default value for this parameters is 128 on most modern operating systems.

If you hit the JVM thread limit, chances are that there is a thread leak in your code that needs to be fixed. However, if you find that all your threads are actually doing useful work, is there a way to tweak the system to let you create more threads and accept more connections?

We were lucky to have a very high limit of 250K connections per host possible from the load balancer. However, if you run into this limit, work with the team managing your load balancers to increase the limit on the number of open connections between the load balancer and your server nodes.

A file descriptor is an abstract handle in unix-based operating systems that is used to access a network socket, among other things. As expected, more persistent connections per node meant more allocated file descriptors. As you can see, when only 2 of the 16 nodes were live, each of them were utilizing 20K file descriptors. When we shut down one of them, we saw the following error in the logs of the remaining one.

We had hit the per-process file descriptor limit when all connections were directed to one node. The file descriptor limit for a running process can be seen in the following file under Max open files.

Next up, we repeated the above process with about 60K connections directed to each of two nodes, and things started to go south again. The number of allocated file descriptors, and correspondingly, the number of active persistent connections, suddenly tanked and latencies spiked to unacceptable levels.

We use TLS for all internal communication inside our data centers for our instant messaging services. In practice, each TLS connection seems to consume about 20KB of memory on the JVM, and that can add up quickly as active persistent connections grow, leading to an out-of-memory situation like the above.

We bumped up the JVM heap space to 8GB (-Xms8g, -Xmx8g) and re-ran our tests to direct more and more connections to a single node, till we ran out of memory again at about 90K connections on one node and connections started to get dropped.

Pushing the boundaries of what we can do with our systems in production is something we love to do here at LinkedIn. We shared some of the most interesting limits that we hit during our quest to hold hundreds of thousands of connections per node on our Instant Messaging servers. We shared details to help you understand the reasons behind each limit and techniques for extracting the maximum performance out of your systems. We hope that you will be able to apply some of these learnings to your own systems.

LinkedIn connections are professional contacts who are in your network. You can have three different types of connections on LinkedIn: 1st degree, 2nd degree, and 3rd degree. The degree of your connection with a person determines the type of interaction you have with them on LinkedIn.

A connection on LinkedIn is a person in your network who you know and trust on a professional level. Your network includes the people connected to your connections. How you can communicate with them depends on how closely connected to them you are.

Connections on LinkedIn imply that you know the person professionally and they are a trusted business connection. There is a difference between a contact and a connection on LinkedIn. To change a person from a contact to a connection, they must accept your invitation to join your network.

Limited connections mean limited visibility. Your visibility significantly increases when you have an extensive network of connections. When you publish a post, LinkedIn notifies your connections, meaning that the more you have, the higher the chances that users will see your content, which can boost your LinkedIn presence and significantly improve your marketing efforts.

To start building your LinkedIn network, you must begin accepting invitations to connect with people you know and sending out connections to professional contacts. Having an extensive network can significantly increase your exposure and help market your business, which is why growing a network of valuable connections that include other people and businesses in your industry is essential.

When you nurture your connections and put in the work to create a valuable network, you get more targeted connections to people in your industry, which helps your business reach the people it needs to reach to increase its exposure.

Your LinkedIn network is made up of the people you connect with. You see their profile or they see yours, and one of you sends an invitation to connect to the other. If that invitation is accepted, you each become first-level connections.

Now all processed connections will be transferred to the tab Successful. From there you can quickly export the list. To do this, click on the item Successful, select all contacts or just those that you need.

We have not done any changes in our product or our Auth0 settings recently (and the problem only and usually occurs when you have the Linkedin app installed on your phone), so we wonder if it has to do with an update of linkedins app.

When I dont have the Linkedin app installed on my phone, Im sent to Linkedins webb login. That works.

But when the LInkedin app is installed Im sent to some form of app-login instead, then it does not work. See pictures. Hope that helps.

Lets hope LInkedin updates their app, and please let us know if you find any other solution from your side. Might be a good idea that you also contact Linkedin to make them aware that this issue should be highly prioritized? ff782bc1db
