We are testing Workspace app 2203 CU2 to allow us to move off of Workspace app 1912. Our users have notified us that Workspace app becomes unresponsive after the VPN disconnects. We have to kill Workspace app in order to get things working again.

This scenario (After Upgrading to Citrix Workspace 2203 LTSR CU2, cannot connect to apps after VPN reconnect : Citrix (reddit.com)) fits with ours very much. We are going to try the registry key and see if that helps, but I'm curious about a couple of things. One, I can't find anything about the regkey mentioned and would like to know what it is, and two is anyone else having this issue and aware of a solution that might be different than what we have found on Reddit?

We found out from Citrix Support that this is an issue with 2203, and that the fix should be in 2203 CU3 (currently in Beta testing, release date TBA). Also per Citrix Support, the registry value & data:

I've installed Citrix Workspace App 2203 (2107 before) on my test clients. Since then my user gets the client drive file access permission window for every desktop. In recent versions there has been an option to set the permission on site level, but it's per desktop now. That's unusable in a site with many VDA desktops.

This ZIP file contains sample scripts to deploy and configure Citrix Workspace app. It is an optional download, provided on an as-is basis by Citrix to serve as an example. Before use, IT administrators must customize the scripts to suit their environment. The uninstall and install scripts may be used as noted in the upgrade guide for Citrix Workspace app for Windows (CTX135933). Version: 22.3.1.41 (2203.1)

This ZIP file contains ADMX and ADML files to deploy and configure Citrix Workspace app using group policy object editor. It is an optional download, to be used by IT administrators, and not meant for use by end-users. The administrative templates (ADMX and ADML files) may be used as noted in the upgrade guide for Citrix Workspace app for Windows (CTX135933). Version: 22.3.1.41 (2203.1)

This documentation describes the features and configuration of Citrix Workspace app 2203.1 LTSR for Windows. This version is the latest Long Term Service Release (LTSR) of Citrix Workspace app for Windows.

Cumulative Update 5 (CU5) is the most recent update to the 2203.1 LTSR. If you are new to the LTSR program, there is no need for you to install the 2203.1 LTSR initial release. Instead, we recommend that you begin right with the latest Cumulative Update.

The following features, components, and platforms are not eligible for 2203.1 LTSR lifecycle milestones and benefits. Specifically, cumulative updates and extended lifecycle benefits are excluded. Updates to excluded features and components will be available through regular current releases.

[German]Brief note for administrators of Citrix Workspace App 2203: Build 2203 of the Citrix Workspace App in question seems to cause high resource utilization and thus performance problems under Windows. [Addendum: It's not clear to me, if version 2203 LTSC is affected, or if it's a typo and it affects 2303. I use 2203 here, in accordance with Citrix`support post.] The reason is probably due to the webview component of Edge (MSEdgewebview2). Citrix has suggested a workaround, but it is only applicable in certain scenarios.

Citrix published the support article Performance issue due to MSEdgewebview2 high resource use in Workspace App 2203. This is due to Msedgewebview2 running as a child process of Citrix selfservice.exe and using a high level of system resources. If this component is not needed, it can be disabled as a workaround. To do this, open the registry editor on the Windows client via Run as administrator. Then navigate to the following registry key:

If MSEdgewebview is required, it is recommended to open a case with Citrix support rather than disabling it. For more details, see the support article Performance issue due to MSEdgewebview2 high resource use in Workspace App 2203.

We are providing an application to external users trough Citrix XenApp 6.5. The users have a number of different version of the receiver but the problem is the same even with the latest one (4.9 at the time I write this, it wa confirmed at least as far back as 4.2).

Had this issues in a recent Citrix deployment. Check to see if drop frag udp if set to drop in your zone protection profile for GP. That was my issue. I was able to connect on the receiver but unable to launch apps, would just saying connecting then time out.

The solution is to restart the Windows 11 PC and, after the restart, the correct status of the Citrix Receiver or Workspace application installation. Or you must use a custom exit/return code (4008) for successful deployment for the SCCM Citrix receiver or Workspace App.

From a delivery controller run get-brokerhypervisorconnection determine the preferred controller, from that preferred controller restart the citrix host connection service. I see this occasionally as well. This normally fixes the unknown power state.

Does anyone know of a way to display the receiver client version along with the SF server name in the footer? I have the SF server name displayed without issue, but adding the Receiver client version is a bit more difficult. Thanks!

thank you @MadMess and others for reporting. I've had the issue as described across Win10 and Win11 over 5700XT and the only driver which supports a visible mouse cursor in full screen citrix workspace is 22.5.1. Hoping for a fix soon.

I'm trying to record a CITRIX application which is launched by logging in to the citrix storefront (WEB) and selecting the application (CITRIX). I tried doing this using multi protocol (web citrix ica) but the problem is, it works perfectly fine for the web part but as soon as I click on the application, it won't launch (when the recorder is running). Please note that it works absolutely fine manually. Tried this on VUGEN 12.6, 2020 and 2021. Citrix workspace version is 1912 (19.12.1001.3). OS version is Windows 10. Please note that DEP is already disabled. Also tried with different encryption settings as well as both socket and wininet.

Please also try the followings:

- set wfica32 and wfcrun32 (in Citrix Client installation folder) executables to run as admin, and restart them (if running in the background)

- set runcitrixclient (under 'LR installation folder'\bin) to run as admin

- Make sure there is no disconnected session on the Citrix server

- Make sure the EnableLUA value in the following registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\

is set to 0. Machine restart is required after the change.

If it is just about a picture/ screenshot I suggest the following workaround:1. open the picture/ file in citrix2. change to your local machine, open Snipping Tool (Windows)3. make a screenshot of the citrix content

citrix xml broker is the communication broker which is used to communicate between web interface and xenapp farm , xml broker use port no 80/8080 and citrix receiver is the plugin which is used to connect with the application and desktops to the user side

Citrix receiver is a collection of suite of products that enables client devices to connect to various desktop virtualization services offered by Citrix. Citrix receiver can link with client devices to XenDesktop applications, XenApp and desktops via the HDX protocol.
