Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (Japanese: !, Hepburn: Chniby demo Koi ga Shitai!, "Even with Eighth Grader Syndrome, I Want to Be in Love"), also known as Ch-2 for short, is a Japanese light novel series written by Torako, with illustrations provided by Nozomi saka. The work won an honorable mention in the Kyoto Animation Award competition in 2010, leading the company to assume its publication starting in June 2011. The series follows a high school boy named Yta Togashi, who tries to discard his embarrassing past grandiose delusions, until he meets a girl named Rikka Takanashi, who exhibits her own signs of chniby syndrome. As their relationship progresses, Yta and Rikka form a club called the Far East Magical Napping Society Summer Thereof with classmates Shinka Nibutani, Kumin Tsuyuri, and Sanae Dekomori, who each have their own unique delusional behaviors.
A second anime film, titled Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Take on Me ( ! -Take on Me-, Eiga Chniby demo Koi ga Shitai! Take on Me), continuing from the second season of the anime, premiered on January 6, 2018, as the finale of the series. The staff and cast from the original anime series returned to reprise their respective roles in the second film.[32]

The main characters in the story are experiencing chunibyo , a mocking term for immature behavior of young teenagers in which they act out grand delusions, or pretend that they have magical powers such as those of anime characters. Chniby (sometimes spelled 'chuunibyou'), is literally translated as "middle 2 syndrome" (middle [school] second [year] syndrome), which also goes by the short form 'chu2', and is often translated to English as "eight-grader syndrome".
