The TCAP Grade 2 Alternate assessment is the English language arts and math assessment for students in grade 2 with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The grade 2 Alternate assessment is administered via paper by the teacher.

The examinations are closed book. You are not allowed to access notes, books, reference materials, or electronic devices at any time during the examination or during breaks. Unauthorized access to notes, books, reference materials or electronic devices may result in your test results being nullified by the IRS. You will be provided scratch paper and pencils at the test center and you are not allowed to leave the testing room with notes taken during the examination.

Bear in mind that although First Semester international students are allowed to take their exams in December, the grades will be posted in January, once all the students have taken their First Semester exams. Within the first 10 days following the exam (January official dates), the professor will publish the provisional results on Aula Global. If you do not agree with the grade, please contact your professor.

International AS and A-levels, consist of a number of units which students can take in different sittings. The difficulty of the papers may vary slightly from one sitting to another. For example, a mark of 45 in January 2022 could represent the same level of achievement as a mark of 48 in the same module in summer 2022. Therefore these marks must be put on a common scale so that both 45 (from January) and 48 (from the summer) have the same value when contributing to an overall grade.

This is done by converting the initial marks to a scale called the Uniform Mark Scale (UMS) which gives equal value to work at the same level of performance, regardless of any variation in the difficulty of the papers. The UMS is a nationally agreed scale used by all exam boards and has fixed grade boundaries. The overall grade for the qualification is obtained by adding together the UMS scores for the modules.

Reading and transcribing of the assessments at the Kindergarten, first and second grade are allowable by the University of Texas High School at the discretion of districts. It is KatyISD's procedure to read parts or the whole of an exam at the student's request during testing and as allowable by the proctor manual established by the University of Texas High school. All other grade levels, the exam is read and answered independently by the student unless an approved testing accomodation has been documented through the appropriate committee and submitted for approval at the time of order.
