A subscriber to a channel on the American video-sharing platform YouTube is a user who has chosen to receive the channel's content by clicking on that channel's "Subscribe" button, and each user's subscription feed consists of videos published by channels to which the user is subscribed.[1] The ability to subscribe to users was introduced in October 2005.[2] YouTube began publishing a list of its most-subscribed channels in April 2006.[3] An early archive of the list dates to May 2006.[4]

Since mid-2006, when Smosh occupied the top position with less than 3,000 subscribers,[4] at least 10 other YouTube channels have held the top spot; these include American fictional character Bree Avery, American comedian Brooke "Brookers" Brodack, American fictional character Fred Figglehorn, Swedish gamer Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg, American comedian Ryan Higa, American media personality Ray William Johnson, American public speaker Judson Laipply, and English geriatric Peter Oakley.

The most-subscribed channel is the Indian record label T-Series, which hosts its music videos on its channel. With over 256 million subscribers as of January 2024, the channel has held the top position since April 14, 2019.[5][6] The most-subscribed channel which is not 'branded' (i.e., does not belong to an organization or company) is that of American YouTuber MrBeast, who is the second most-subscribed channel overall, with over 226 million subscribers as of January 2024.[6]

The following table lists the 50 most-subscribed YouTube channels,[A][6] as well as the primary language and content category of each channel. The channels are ordered by number of subscribers. Those whose displayed subscriber counts are identical, are listed so that the channel whose current growth rate indicates that its displayed subscriber count will exceed that of the other channel is listed first. Automatically generated channels that lack their own videos, such as Music and News, and channels that have been made effectively obsolete as a result of the transferral of their content, such as JustinBieberVEVO and TaylorSwiftVEVO[B] are excluded.

As of December 2023, 20 of the 50 channels listed primarily produce content in English while 17 primarily produce content in Hindi. All 50 channels have surpassed 45 million subscribers, 41 of them have surpassed 50 million subscribers, 28 of them have surpassed 60 million subscribers, 19 of them have surpassed 70 million subscribers, 14 of them have surpassed 80 million subscribers, 12 of them have surpassed 90 million and 9 of them have surpassed 100 million subscribers.

The following table lists the 19 distinct runs as the most-subscribed YouTube channel recorded since May 2006. Only runs lasting at least 24 hours are included. 11 different channels have held the position, with PewDiePie holding the title a record four times. In second place is Smosh, which held it three times, while third place is tied between nigahiga, T-Series, and YouTube's own channel, which have all held it twice each.

Following the third time that Smosh became the most-subscribed YouTube channel, Ray William Johnson collaborated with the duo.[74] A flurry of top YouTubers including Ryan Higa, Shane Dawson, Felix Kjellberg, Michael Buckley, Kassem Gharaibeh, the Fine Brothers, and Johnson himself, congratulated the duo shortly after they surpassed Johnson as the most-subscribed channel.[75]

In mid-2018, the subscriber count of the Indian music video channel T-Series rapidly approached that of Swedish web comedian and Let's Player PewDiePie, who was the most-subscribed user on YouTube at the time.[76][77] As a result, fans of PewDiePie and T-Series, other YouTubers, and celebrities showed their support for both channels. During the competition, both channels gained a large number of subscribers at a rapid rate, and surpassed each other's subscriber count on multiple occasions in February, March, and April 2019.[52][53][54][56] T-Series eventually permanently surpassed PewDiePie, and on May 29, 2019 it became the first channel to reach 100 million subscribers.[72]

Views refer to the total number of times your video or channel has been watched. Each time a viewer plays a video and watches it for at least 30 seconds, YouTube counts it as a view. If someone watches your video several times, each time is counted as a new view. This applies across all devices whether a person watches via smartphone or desktop. This also applies to embeds and videos shared on social media like Facebook.

As a result, you should regularly promote your YouTube channel to your social followers to encourage them to become subscribers. As soon as a video goes live, make a point to let your followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn know about it. You can likewise create snippets or previews for each social platform that also link to your latest production.

Teams video recordings may be set to expire, sending the video to the recycling bin for 90 days before deletion. Follow these steps to modify the video's expiration settings from a Teams site channel post.

Channel keywords act like general labels for your channel, telling YouTube what your main topics are. The titles and descriptions of each of your videos are more important for your overall YouTube SEO, but these take 5 seconds to set up, so why not, right?

Depending on your budget, you could outsource to a professional video editor as soon as you start your channel. Although for most creators, the ability to do this only comes after their channel starts making money.

This endpoint returns ad schedule related information, including snooze, when the last ad was run, when the next ad is scheduled, and if the channel is currently in pre-roll free time. Note that a new ad cannot be run until 8 minutes after running a previous ad.

Sends a message to one or more viewers. You can send messages to a specific channel or to all channels where your extension is active. This endpoint uses the same mechanism as the send JavaScript helper function used to send messages.

Requires a signed JSON Web Token (JWT) created by an Extension Backend Service (EBS). For signing requirements, see Signing the JWT. The signed JWT must include the role, user_id, and exp fields (see JWT Schema) along with the channel_id and pubsub_perms fields. The role field must be set to external.

Requires a user access token that includes the moderation:read scope. If your app also adds and removes moderators, you can use the channel:manage:moderators scope instead.

Requires a user access token that includes the channel:read:vips scope. If your app also adds and removes VIP status, you can use the channel:manage:vips scope instead.

from line 293 and line 342 in ft.channel_videos.php. This stopped the error and the plug-in now works. I guess it might have lost functionality connected to 'video_views' but the main purpose that it was being used is now working.

Hi Twitch! it would be awesome if we could pin our favorite clips to our Twitch pages, have tags on clips, and/or make searching for clips a better experience. The current means of searching/sorting clips by 24 hour, 7 day, 30 day or all time is very limiting and doesn't yield optimal search results. Searching for clips on the dashboard is also confusing and not user friendly. Clips are a nice short way for people to experience the channel offline if they don't want to scrub through a VOD.

Yes, channel trailers are great but 60 seconds is limiting. Having clips that we can pin could give more context to inside jokes, community culture, hype moments (with context in conjunction with the clips having tags)

Having tags on clips and being able to search clips incentivize users to check out channels offline. Scrubbing through VOD's is tedious. It would also encourage broadcasters to have a higher incentive for chat to create clips. Clips are also a great way to share your channel on other social media channels. Please also make it mandatory for users to name the clip or make clip names editable by the broadcaster.

So you know that one streamer you like to watch that's full time and divides him or her self between more than one game / category and goes 8+ hours each day and has tons of people clipping the channel's content?

I personally think it's a bit frustrating to go digging through their dozens / hundreds of clips just to find that one you are looking for from such a long time ago. I think it would be a great addition if twitch allowed us more filters than just sorting by time created (by default, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days).

If I want to see someone's clips on their channel and want to see what's happening on their channel, I would ideally like the following options to sort by:

Date created.

Chronological order.

sorted by views (already the default)

and the following filters:

"Category / Game"

Clip title." (Concept: type in the clip's name, clips that match display on your web browser, this can be done with google though, I think. Problem is, what if the clip title is something common like "OMEGALUL".) 17dc91bb1f
