Phone is trying to get me to update to DISH Visual Voicemail and upon looking at the playstore reviews this app not only wipes all your saved voicemails (some people lost messages from loved ones no longer with them) but asks for some really sketchy permissions.

I'm considering switching to Boost Infinite and was wondering if it has visual voicemail that works with the native phone dialers for iPhones and Pixels (specifically iPhone 13 pro and Google Pixel 6a), or do you have to use a different carrier specific app?

UPDATE 28 december: after more than a dozen calls and countless wrong answers from "tech support", boost mobile informed me that the visual voicemail app by "virtual network apps"-- the one lined by /uEthrem below-- is the correct VM app to use. can confirm it does indeed work.

a call where i finally reached tech support. tech said he would try to push a carrier update to the phone that would include the boost mobile-specific software. he said if the phone never received the update (it didn't) that i should call motorola and tell them, "there is a manufacturer update you can push to the phone that will allow it to receive carrier updates." motorola assured me there is no such thing.

I just received a text from boost telling me it was urgent that I install visual voicemail, everything I've read about visual voicemail says it's full of ads and spam, did anyone else get this text and if so did you install visual voicemail?

Today I got a notification that says it's a voicemail, shows the voicemail icon, but there is no such voicemail in the app. It's a prompt to 'Enhance your Visual Voicemail Experience", but when I follow it to the Play store, it's for DISH and there's a message that says that app is not available with my provider. Well duh, because Boost is my provider, not DISH. I don't even use Visual Voicemail.

The quickest way to reset your Android voicemail password is to open the Phone app and tap the three dot menu > Settings > Voicemail > Change PIN. If you've forgotten your PIN, you'll need to contact your carrier.

I have recently moved from an iPhone to Google Pixel 5 and I want some sort of visual voicemail, if there isn't anything, how can I have all voicemails forwarded to an email then either .wav or text or both. This happened once when I was driving I think and the phone was in DTD.

Up until now, the Boost Mobile crowd's been missing out on those fancy visual voicemail creations, but that's about to change starting on May 31st. Earlier today, Smith Micro announced it's delivering its Visual Voicemail features to the prepaid-friendly carrier, with the upcoming Boost-branded HTC EVO Design 4G being the first slab to offer said tidbits. Smith Micro is also adding an optional service dubbed "Voicemail-to-Text," which -- for an extra $1.99 per month -- will essentially turn those vocal messages into words and send them to you via text message or email. With the launch of the "four-gee" waves in mind, we're certain you're enjoying all the incoming news of late.

"Using our Visual Voicemail platform, Boost Mobile can offer their subscribers a more convenient, flexible way to manage their voicemail inbox that saves time and facilitates message sharing with features like email forwarding and Voice SMS"

With Voicemail-to-Text transcription, Smith Micro simplifies the process of checking voicemail by converting the voice message into text and delivering the message to the mobile device or email inbox of Boost Mobile subscribers. Using this optional service, subscribers can read voicemail messages at school, at a concert, in a meeting, or anywhere that listening is inconvenient. Boost Mobile customers with the HTC EVO Design will have access to Visual Voicemail, and the optional Visual Voicemail-to-Text transcription service for $1.99 per month, with the launch of HTC EVO Design 4G on May 31.

"Using our Visual Voicemail platform, Boost Mobile can offer their subscribers a more convenient, flexible way to manage their voicemail inbox that saves time and facilitates message sharing with features like email forwarding and Voice SMS," said Jim Mains, Senior Vice President of Global Products and Programs, Smith Micro Software. "Through the convenient in-app purchase of Voicemail-to-Text transcription, Smith Micro helps turn voicemail from a cost center into a revenue generator."

The Visual Voicemail solution is a component of Smith Micro's Mobile Experience Platform that helps mobile operators, device manufacturers and enterprises simplify and enhance the mobile experience while optimizing network and device resources. Visual Voicemail powers more than 17 million subscriber devices and delivers more than 4 billion voicemail messages annually. Boost Mobile offers both traditional and visual voicemail features with their service that you can easily activate. A voicemail is a good way to avoid missing important calls with access to the message at any time.

For Boost Mobile voicemail to work ensure that you complete the set-up of voicemail within 60 days of activation of your phone. If you do not set up in the first 60 days then you have to call Boost Mobile customer support to complete the voicemail set-up.

When your internet is not strong then there will be an issue with the voicemail as it requires a strong internet signal to access your voicemails. If the internet is down then you will have no access to voicemails.

Ensure that the Boost Mobile voicemail settings have not changed on your phone. If you recently updated your phone then the settings may change or get corrupt on your phone which will not let the Boost Mobile voicemail work.

Boost Mobile plans to differentiate from competitors by focusing on add-ons that target subscriber privacy and online security, rather than promoting content and entertainment e.g. popular SVOD, and music streaming services. Last week Boost Mobile launched a Privacy Premium product which is priced at $5.99 per month for subscribers with an Android device. It includes Wi-Fi encryption to keep email and browsing safe, call screening features to identify and block unwanted or spam calls, and visual voicemail which transcribes voice messages to text.

This video will review some quick things to try if you're having issues using Verizon's Visual Voicemail service.

If you're having issues accessing your messages or you're not getting voicemail notifications, start by checking your mobile data connection.

The Visual Voicemail Application requires a connection to our cellular data network. Make sure Mobile data is turned on, and you're able to access data with Wi-Fi turned off. If you're outside the data coverage area, or have Mobile Data Disabled on your device, you won't be able to check messages or get notifications.

So... what if you can't access mobile data? Well, you'll still get a missed call indicator, and you can still dial *86 to check for new voicemails.

If mobile data works, but you're still having trouble, try powercycling your phone. Many times just powering the device off and on can fix temporary issues.

If that doesn't do the trick, try resetting the Voicemail app. This will -not- delete any voicemail messages; it will only reset the app itself.

You'll typically find it under: settings: then Apps or Applications. Now we'll need to locate the Visual Voicemail App. Tap the app, then tap force stop, then confirm.

Now, tap Storage, then Clear Data. Tap to confirm.

Now open the voicemail app again, and follow the on screen prompts. Then, retest to make sure your issue is fixed!

If you need specific steps for your device, search for "Clear App Cache" and your phone model on Verizon.com.

If you're still having trouble receiving messages, it's possible you've setup call forwarding on your line. When call forwarding is active, the call is forwarded before it can be sent to your voicemail. Dial *73 send and wait for the beeps to cancel any call forwarding that may have been setup. If *73 doesn't work, you may try dialing *920 to turn off call forwarding.

If you need to reset your voicemail password, you can do that thru the My Verizon Mobile app, under: Menu: Account: Account Settings: then under the Security Tab, tap Manage Voicemail Password. You can also reset your password by calling *611 and following the automated prompts.

Alright, what if your Voicemail indicator won't go away, or you are not getting notifications of new messages? Sometimes the indicator can get "stuck" displaying or not displaying your voicemail notification. After completing the previous steps, you can clear the indicator by calling the problem number, and leaving a voicemail. Then, from the problem device, call *86, play the message, then delete it. Once the message is deleted, exit the voicemail system by pressing the (*) button until the system ends the call. This should clear the indicator.

Following these simple steps will help resolve most voicemail issues.
