As to the merged phone calls, if you are unwilling to separate your family, you'll need to accept every person on your Apple ID will have access to ALL your data. And while you may think you have configured, for example your text messages to be separate from your spouse or children, which you can easily do, you are not likely aware, they can open Settings > Messages > Send and Receive and check your phone number or anyone else's phone number tied to your Apple ID and start reading your messages without your knowledge OR approval. And this is by no means new with iOS 17.

So, if they can read your text messages if they want, why would you be bothered about them seeing the phone numbers you call or receive calls from? You are in essence permitting the entire family to have full access to everyone's data on every iPhone.

I was having this problem intermittently with my new iPhone 12 and tried everything I could do myself - reset network settings, reset all settings, and the full factory reset. Nothing worked and after the full factory reset, the problem actually became more prevalent. It was only ever a problem with calls, never an issue recording video with audio or voice memos. I finally called Apple support and they were able to run some software diagnostics over the phone but could not detect the issue. They helped me set up an appointment at my local Apple store where they ran additional diagnostics, got a notice of an error, and was therefore able to give me a replacement phone.

This is happening to me as well. Sometimes the microphone doesn't work from the beginning of the call and sometimes it stops working in the middle of the call. I can always hear the person on the other end. Speaker phone mode always works.

I've had the exact same issue on my iPhone 12 Pro. On both in coming and out going calls, I can hear the other person clearly and they can't hear me at all. I've had to restart my phone every time for it to work again.

Hi fellow HubSpot community.

Is there ANYONE out there who ACTUALLY has discovered some sort of workaround for this problem?

Has anyone cracked the code yet on some sort of 3rd party integration or custom API workflow that will allow iPhones (or any iOS device) to automatically log calls just like Android phones do?

If anyone is not familiar with this issue, let me describe:

Basically, on Android phones, whenever we make or receive a call, and as long as the caller is in the HubSpot contacts, the HubSpot app will automatically:

1) Show that the call is being tracked by HubSpot (contact name pops up as a floating icon)

2) After-call logging is automatically prompted in HubSpot app (to log the call after you hang up)

Apparently, due to iOS security and / or functional differences, iOS is not granting HubSpot (or apparantly any other CRM app) to access iOS contacts, and thereby HubSpot is not able to match internal phone contacts to the HubSpot contacts in order to initiate the automatic call logging.

This means, anyone using an iPhone will have to MANUALLY find the contact in the HubSpot app, then MANUALLY log a call.

Now, apparently the current workaround for iOS users is to call the contact directly from the HubSpot app, however this is unrealistic and ONLY works for outbound calls. No inbound call will be recognized by HubSpot for any auto-logging.

This has been discussed in other HubSpot community articles but to no avail since 2021.

Go to recent calls within the phone app. Tap on the "i" to the far right of the number you wish to block. On this info page, scroll down. At the bottom of the page, tap "Block this Caller". Confirm on the warning message.

This list blocks calls, messages and FaceTime calls (audio and video) from that contact. Combined with a blocked contact as Loc Wolff has proposed, you have a neat solution for dispatching unwanted calls on an ongoing basis.

In iOS 7 caller blocking is supported by the OS. Unless I'm missing something here the number you want to block needs to be in your contact list. So to block a new number you still need to add a contact first which seems a bit backwards.

NEW YORK (CNET) - A newly discovered and significant bug allows iPhone users to call another device via FaceTime and hear audio on the other end before the recipient has answered the call.

The bug, reported by 9to5Mac and confirmed independently by CNET, has the ability to turn any iPhone into a hot mic without the user's knowledge. That represents a major security concern for Apple. 9to5Mac also confirmed that it was able to replicate the bug by making a FaceTime call to a Mac.

We were able to re-create the bug in the CNET offices during a regular FaceTime call. After starting a FaceTime session with another iPhone user, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to add another user to the call and add your own phone number. While the phone is still ringing, you'll be able to hear audio from the recipient's phone, even though that person hasn't accepted the call.

According to the patent, "if the remote mobile phone is operating in a vibration mode, a user of the local mobile phone may interpret that the user of the second mobile phone does not want to be called upon. In this example, the local user may defer calling or send an email or a text instead."

Apple's patent would reduce uncertainty of how likely the callee would be able to return a call quickly, and the caller could decide, after viewing the status on screen, whether to complete the call or to use another communication mode such as email.

On the callee's side, the advantage might be a way to avoid rings that can interrupt an office meeting, or any other event.

How it works: The iPhone owner sets preferences and user sharing policies on the iPhone, which then reports to the server at preset intervals. As such, the phone automatically reports the operating status and conditions to a server; the process is taking place in the background. On the caller's side, the device would display the contact's operating status data automatically.

"Caller ID service is conventionally available to provide a callee with limited information about a call for call screening purposes, with the callee usually having very few options to manage the call. In particular, for most callees, the only available actions are to accept the call or decline it by either not answering or allowing an answering machine or voice mail system to respond. The caller in such cases has no control over whether or not the call will be accepted.

"More advanced Caller ID services can provide the callee with limited interaction with the caller to assist the call screening process, thereby giving both the caller and the callee more control over the call. However, despite the limited interaction, the caller still has no effective way of knowing when the callee is willing to accept their call." 2351a5e196
