After one year i tried to use my pencil again and i have the same kind of problem. First i got messages there wa sonly 3% battery left. Charging didn't helped. I tried a reset of the ipad pro even a hard reset, nothing helped. I went to the apple store and they couldn't help, they don't know if there is a problem and the warranty was expended.(14 months, pffffff ) Back home i tried to charge the pencil true USB with the adaptor and after 15 tries of plugging it in and out of the ipad suddenly i got connected for 7 seconds, then disconnected again, and then connected again for a few seconds. Because of the short period of connection i could see that the battery of the pencil was at 100 % again but still it can't keep the connection. The icon of bluetooth at the top of the ipad is blinking all the time. After awhile the same problem of the beginning had came back and I get an Error that the Pencil took to long to pair. And again the same pairing problem came back. Ipad sees the pencil but it can't pair with it. Its a brand new pencil i only used it once when i bought it and left in the box for over a year. So it must be a hardware problem, so apple fix it please.

I am not having the same problems, what I am having is the Apple Pencil Losing paring. I have my pencil is never less than 2 meters from the my iPad Pro 10.5, I am on iOS 11.0.3. Everyday I have to plug the pencil into the port so it pair. This didn't happen in iOS 10.x

I am trying to pair my Apple Pencil model 1 for first time to my Ipad (6th Generation). The pencil is connected directly to the iPad lighting connector, the Bluetooth is On, but when i click PAIR, it says CONNECTION UNSUCCESFUL. Make sure your apple pencil is on and within range (even though it is connected to the ipad) - have tried multiple times turning off/on the Ipad but same message pops-up.

Done this several times, but after clicking pair, it never recognizes the pencil and it says "CONNECTION UNSUCCESFUL. Make sure your apple pencil is on and within range", even though it is connected to the iPad.

It is essential that if you have an Apple Pencil that you charge it regularly - whether used or not - so as to protect the battery from deep-discharge. Do not allow a pencil to remain in low-charge state for any period of time - as the internal battery will fail, rendering the Pencil useless.

If the Pencil Battery has failed, the only remedy is to replace the Pencil. If purchased directly from Apple, should the battery have failed whilst your pencil is within its one-year warranty, you should look to having it replaced at an Apple Store.

The pairing for the pencil is now lost and only one of the previously paired devices could be paired again. My concern is where to have this reviewed, because the ipad and the pencil were purchased from two different location (not apple) as Apple could not make the deliveries in time.

I tried to use my apple pencil after a long time do not use it ( may be over 2 weeks). In the first time, it announced that the apple pencil had low battery with only 3% and I can not pair this pen with my ipad pro. Then I charged this pen for almost 30min. and try again but it did not work even I already reset my ipad and reconnect the apple pencil and ipad. Now my apple pencil totally cannot recognize my ipad pro. I do not know how to check my apple pencil is damaged or not.

Just had the same problem. I realized that after turning the iPad on and off nothing worked, then I noticed that the tip of the pencil was becoming unscrewed. Make sure your tip is screwed on properly, seems that the tip is not very stable.

Thanks to your resplied, but still doesn't work the step you advise. My apple pencil is actually totally brand new but cannot return to apple store as I lost the receipt. I don't know if there is another solution can help how to connect my apple pencil to my ipad pro. It seems some problem in the battery of my apple pencil because it doesn't show the battery charge status of my apple pencil in my widget. Also, everytime I connect the apple pencil in the ipad, it connect for just only 1seconds then immediately disconnected. I tried several times to restart my ipad and re-paired again and again but still cannot connect. Hope there is another solution or advise can get help from apple support team. Thanks.

I have an apple pencil 1st gen and have not been using it for one year or so, now it's not pairing, or it's connected for a few secs then not connected again. I have tried all the suggested trouble shooting tips, such as charing it, restart IPad, forget this device then reconnect, bluetooth on and off, all not working for me. People say because it has not been used for so long that the battery is broken, is this true? If so, am I left with no other choice but buying a new one?

ion battery ( smaller than the eraser head on a REAL wooden pencil ), the Apple Pencil needs to be constantly charged up to some significant charge level ALL THE TIME, even when not using the Pencil for prolonged periods of time.

ive read everything and watched every youtube video, ive done it all. and STILL when im using my apple pencil it draws random line and dots, this might not seem like a big deal, but i use my ipad for school, 8+ hours a day and it happens so many time its driving me mad.

Essentially i'm enjoying handwriting my notes (quicker for me and I've learned about the science behind memory recall being better than typing), but i need apple's scribble to turn that into text so that I can copy and paste these notes into word documents etc. I have been able to do this fairly effectively using a note and then writing into the window- excellent. However, when i've gotten beyond 3/4 of the page down, the real estate in which i can write becomes very small and the evernote keeps popping up 'related notes and articles'. I then type over that and of course I'm taken to a previous note etc- frustrating. Is there a way to scroll up the note so that I have more real estate in which to write? It just bounces down when I try.

Lastly, does anyone have a list of keystrokes (i think thats the right phrase) for using the apple pencil in evernote? I cant seem to back space with the pencil, so i have to pull up the keyboard. Any links to pencil usage would be valuable. Thanks very much

If your scribble experience is better, you can use it to write into an EN note. Just place the pencil, start writing, and the handwriting is converted as go go. When the text appears, the handwriting is erased. For the gestures there is a little training program in iOS settings, Apple Pencil where you activate Scribble.

I am adding to this thread in hopes of adding additional support for adding the apple pen scribble function to Survey123. It's frustrating that it works in Field Maps but not in Survey123! Is there any update on this issue?

You can use the Apple Pencil to open apps, however, with the iPad Pro, you cannot swipe upwards with the Pencil to close an app, at least not as far as I have found. You also cannot swipe upwards and pause to bring up the thumbnails of the other apps you have opened in the past. I wish there was a way. I understand about the oily fingers. I am a little OCD about the smears on my device as well. I use the Smart Keyboard Folio with my iPad Pro 11 and can use the arrow keys for certain things like first opening it, but that is about it. I did try using a Bluetooth mouse for a while, but that meant I had to change devices, mouse, pencil, keyboard, finger..........you know what I mean.

Let's face it, it is extremely unlikely that any digital experience is going to ever be able to replicate the feel of a pencil or a pen gliding across a piece of paper. The joy that we all feel when using our favourite combinations are unlikely to ever be matched by glass and plastic. But that's not what this product is about. e24fc04721
