"10,000 Hours" is a song by American country music duo Dan + Shay and Canadian singer Justin Bieber. It was released on October 4, 2019, as the lead single from Dan + Shay's fourth studio album, Good Things (2021). Released four days after Justin and Hailey Bieber's wedding in South Carolina on September 30,[2] the song was written by duo members Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, Justin Bieber, Poo Bear, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jordan Reynolds, and produced solely by Smyers.[3] The song was named Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards.[4]

The song debuted at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100.[5] It also made history on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart by becoming the highest-charting non-holiday country song in the history of the chart, besting the number nine peak of Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise".[6]

"10,000 Hours" debuted at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 which is the first country song to debut in the top ten since 2012. This is also Dan + Shay's first top ten hit in the US and Bieber's 16th.[5] On the Country Airplay chart, it is the duo's seventh number one and Bieber's first. In its first full week of tracking, it received 33.3 million streams, and became the highest-charting non-holiday country song in the history of the streaming chart at number three. It also sold 53,000 downloads in first week, and it was the number one song on the Hot Country Songs chart.[8] It sold a further 17,000 copies in the second week.[9] It was No. 1 for 21 weeks on the Hot Country Songs chart, the fourth longest reign in the chart history.[10] It was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 10, 2019, and Platinum on January 16, 2020, later being certified quadruple platinum in 2021.[11] It has sold 256,000 copies in the United States as of March 2020.[12]

On November 27, 2019, a piano version arrived of the track that was called as the wedding version.[13] Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber switched parts in the song as well, but the lyrics are the same.[14]

Dan + Shay raised a few eyebrows in 2019 when they teamed with pop star Justin Bieber for their smash hit "10,000 HOURS." The men were high on a string of awards show wins and radio successes with songs like "Tequila," "Speechless" and "All To Myself." Looping in Bieber at the peak of the duo's success was a risk because it was unknown how their fans and country radio would react.

"That means the song has been listened to for approximately 46,388,889 hours (and counting)," Dan + Shay explained on social media. "That's also about how long it would take us to express how grateful we are for everyone who helped make this happen.

According to the suit, songwriters Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti (of which the latter formed the company Melomega) penned "First Time" and registered their musical composition for the song with the U.S. Copyright Office in 1980. Melomega released the sound recording for their single more than three decades later, in 2014.

I got winter break for the next few weeks and I was wondering if I should do 3 songs written/produced a day or 1 song a week, to really take my time with it. Which led me to the question (if your familiar to the 10,000 theory in Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell) of how a rapper/producer should spend those 10,000 hours? Churning out songs rapidly or taking their sweet time to do quality work?

The title "10,000 Hours" was inspired by a theory popularized by author Malcolm Gladwell that it takes 10,000 hours to become truly master something. Smyers, Mooney, Jessie Jo Dillon and Jordan Reynolds ("Tequila," "Speechless") were among the large group that spun that idea into a love song.

"Whether it's 10,000 hours to get to know that person and truly love them in the best way or it's just the rest of your life, that's the hook," Mooney explains. "It's just about learning your significant other."

"He hit back right away like, '(He) loves the song. Wants to do it,'" Smyers shares, expressing more than a little disbelief. "So we connected and he wrote a couple of lines on it, put his spin on it.

If you watched the above video, you know that Dan + Shay sang at Bieber's wedding. They'd planned to just sing "Speechless" and maybe "Tequila," but the groom insisted on joining them for a live performance of "10,000 Hours." It wasn't his and Hailey Baldwin's wedding song per se, but it's definitely a memorable moment for a wedding guest list that included several Jenners, Usher and more.

\"I'd spend 10,000 hours and 10,000 more, oh, if that's what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours. And I might never get there, but I'm gonna try. If it's 10,000 hours or the rest of my life I'm gonna love you,\" the 6-year-old sings.

I love #NewMusicFridays so much, don't you? On Friday, Oct. 4, so many amazing artists released new songs, like Camila Cabello, Travis Scott, Halsey, Niall Horan, Lauv, and so many more. (Seriously. That's just five artists out of like 100 who dropped new music.) One song fans are talking about a lot is Dan + Shay's new single with Justin Bieber called "10,000 Hours" because it's so romantic. Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything different after Dan + Shay released their hit single, "Speechless," in 2018 (aka, everyone's favorite new wedding song since Ed Sheeran's "Perfect") and after Bieber dropped "I Don't Care" with Ed Sheeran back in May. Since the Biebs just got married (again), everyone's asking, "Is Justin Bieber's '10,000 Hours' about Hailey Baldwin?"

The song basically talks about spending the rest of your life with someone, and since Baldwin and Bieber just tied the knot for the second time, "10,000 Hours" totally reads like a love letter from Bieber to his wife, which I think is the sweetest thing ever.

Justin Bieber along with country duet Dan + Shay have been sued for copyright infringement over their song "10,000 Hours," which won a Grammy Award in 2021.

International Manufacturing Concepts, Melomega music and Sound Gems filed the lawsuit Thursday, alleging that Bieber and the duo of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney "stole the core portion" referring to the chorus, verse and hook of "The First Time Baby Is A Holiday," a 1973 song originally written by Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti, according to documents obtained by People.

The companies, which claim to own the song and seek credit, point out in the lawsuit that there are "unmistakable similarities" between their song and "10,000 Hours," noting that the latter wasn't released until 2014, some five years before it came out.

Thanks to "10,000 Hours" Bieber along with Dan + Shay won in 2020 two AMAs, an iHeartRadio Music Award and a Billboard Award, plus in 2021 won a Grammy Award for best country duo/group performance for the song.

This is not the first time Bieber has been sued, as in 2016 another artist claimed that the singer, along with DJ Skrillex, stole the hook of "Sorry" from one of his songs, although later the singer filed to have her own suit dismissed.

Helping a young person find what they love, finding Flow, is extremely important, since it not only provides enjoyment, but may lead to them doing the activity for many hours. Then they start to get really good at it, which is the key to the second circle in the Hedgehog Concept: finding what you do best.

The important thing is that they keep a record of the things they create. Encourage them to preserve them, document them, post them on Instagram or Facebook, or better yet, create a digital portfolio using simple blog tools such as Tumblr or Wordpress. Give them this advice: Whether it is a song you compose, a piece of art you create, some code you write, or a robot you build, keep a record of it. Learn to tell others the story of what you create.

The 10,000 hours from the book are to master a skill. 10,000 hours will make you Buddy Rich good (well, maybe not quite :)). You goal specifically states you do not require mastery, so you will not need 10,000 hours. Here is a TED talk that says 20 hours of intensive training is enough to get basic proficiency with anything. There is also a video of Tim Ferris learning the drums in a similar amount of time. . e24fc04721
