The career that I have decided to pursue is aerospace engineering. My dad was the one that prompted me to become an aerospace engineer.  My father got me into drag racing at a young age, being around drag racing has always inspired me to join some mechanical field of engineering. Watching the chassis, wiring, motor, and transmission of a race car come together and work so well inspired me to become an engineer. I chose aerospace engineering specifically because I love planes, jets and anything that flies. After putting these two motivators together I decided that I wanted to become an aerospace engineer.

Thus far I have taken classes such as algebra 1,Geometry and biology that will help me prepare for aerospace engineering. I have also participated in the James Forrest Career and Technology Center’s engineering program to further assist me in becoming an engineer. Through this program I have learned math, problem solving and engineering skills that will all help me understand engineering better. I am always looking to take advanced placement or AP classes to prepare for success in college and engineering. 

Throughout my life I have participated in many extracurricular activities. Drag racing has played the biggest role in my life. Racing has taught me patience, problem solving and attention to detail. Drag racing has also shown me how small changes can make a big difference in performance which is important for engineering. Playing football has taught me great leadership skills along with teamwork. So far in my life I have worked two jobs. I work for my dad’s performance wiring company and as a waterman at Golden Eye Seafood. Both jobs have taught me to be persistent, hardworking and determined which are all important life lessons.

After graduating from high school, I would love to attend a university to obtain a masters degree in aerospace engineering. I believe that a masters degree will give me the skills I need to become a successful engineer. After completing college, I plan to enter the workforce and start a career in the aerospace engineering industry. 

After achieving my career goal, I would love to affect the community I live in by designing better defense jets. This would help my community be safer and more protected. I would also love to affect the society in which I live in by approving aviation technology. Doing this would make airplanes safer and more efficient. I will have a positive impact on the world by creating safer and more advanced aerospace technology. I hope my work will better the world one day.
