Hey everyone! It's Rama here- you know- Rama... from the Indian Epic the Ramayana? Yeah, I was kind of a big deal back in my day. My life is pretty calm nowadays- I'm just focusing on raising my sons Kusha and Lava. You remember them, don't you? They were born in the forest when Sita had to leave because of the whole honor thing. I really regret that- we never had a chance to be a real family, but she lives on in the stories I tell my sons. They came to live with me when they were young, so they only spent a few years in the forest. Kusha and Lava absolutely love hearing stories all the time. They always want to hear about what I did when I was young, all the adventures I went on, all the demons I fought, and pretty much anything and everything else I did. They are fascinated that their parents used to do such crazy stuff.
Anyway, that is why I made this website. I want to share The Adventures of Kusha and Lava with you. Some of the stories are based on my life with Sita before the boys came along, and other stories have fairy tale influences. All of them have a fictional element to them, but they are all based on stories that have been retold for many many years. When the boys want a story I usually like to switch it up a little bit and involve characters that they know. For this reason a lot of the stories you will read here have Kusha and Lava as the main characters, and sometimes you might see me or Sita pop up in a story.
Sometimes I tell the stories as bedtime stories, but others are told so that the boys can act them out and play while I tell the tale. They have creative minds too so sometimes they chime in with new ideas that can make me a better storyteller. Like I said, you can't trust everything you read here to be true- or even rational- it's a world of storytelling so anything can (and will) happen! If you decide to keep reading, expect the unexpected. Everything you will find on this site is a story based on another story and retold by me, Lava, and Kusha. We can get pretty creative, and the stories we start off with are crazy to begin with- they might contain magic, crazy creatures, or a story from my past.
"DAD!! DAAAAAD!! DADDADDADDADDAAAAAAD!! Can you tell us a story?- We want to go on an ADVENTURE!"
Uh oh... here goes. I guess it's time to get to work! I hope you enjoy going on adventures with us through storytelling!
