Widget+ for Spotify is a home-screen widget for the Spotify app on your phone. This policy covers the app and its widget.
No data leaves your phone. The app has no internet permission, no account, no ads, no analytics and no third-party code. It collects nothing, sells nothing and shares nothing with anyone.
WHAT IT USES, ON YOUR PHONE ONLY
• Notification access, which you turn on in Android's settings. The app uses it only to reach the Spotify app's media controls: the song title, artist and album art, whether Spotify is playing, and whether it plays on this phone or on another device. Your button presses (previous, play/pause, next, volume) go to Spotify the same way. The app does not read your notifications.
• Whether media is playing on this phone, to tell where Spotify is playing when Spotify doesn't say, and this phone's media volume, for the widget's volume control.
• When a Bluetooth audio device, such as headphones, a speaker or a car, connects to this phone. If Spotify then moves your music from another device onto this phone, the widget offers to send it back. The app notes only that a Bluetooth audio device connected, the kind of connection and the time; it doesn't read the device's name or anything else about it.
WHAT IT KEEPS, ON YOUR PHONE ONLY
The song title, artist and album art the widget shows, your widget settings, whether you marked Spotify Connect control as on, and a list of your last 15 button presses with what each did. All of it sits in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read, and is left out of backups. Each song replaces the last. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes all of it. Bluetooth connections are never saved: the app remembers the latest few in memory only, and they are gone when the app stops or the phone restarts.
THE STATUS REPORT
Long-pressing the version line on the setup screen copies a status report to your clipboard, for you to paste when something is wrong. It holds the widget's state, your recent button presses and the times of recent Bluetooth audio connections, never a song, artist or playlist, and goes only where you paste it.
