DoseState Privacy Policy

DoseState is a local-first medication certainty tracker. This Privacy Policy explains how the current iOS version of DoseState (the App) handles information, what remains on your device, what may leave your device at your direction, and the choices available to you. It applies in every country or region where the App is offered, subject to mandatory local law.
Your medication records stay on your device. The App does not send them to the Developer or to a DoseState server.
No account, advertising, tracking, analytics SDK, remote telemetry, or remote health-data backend is used in the current version.
Reminders are scheduled locally. You control whether notifications are allowed and how much detail may appear on the lock screen.
You control exports and deletion. Information leaves the App only when you choose to export or share it, or when you contact support outside the App. You can delete local App Data in Settings; deleting it does not recall copies you exported or shared.
The App processes the following categories of information locally so that its features work:
Medication details: medication names, dose descriptions, medication form, instructions, and notes that you enter.
Schedules: recurrence patterns, selected dates or weekdays, times, pauses, and schedule versions.
Dose and certainty records: scheduled occurrences; start, snooze, confirmation, partial, unsure, not-taken, skipped, and missed states; per-unit administration records; timestamps; and history.
Settings: onboarding status, notification privacy mode, notification permission status, haptic preference, and default confirmation preferences.
Local technical records: randomly generated record identifiers, database version information, and local notification job identifiers used to keep records consistent and reminders current.
Because medication information may reveal health-related facts, treat your device, lock screen, and exports as sensitive. DoseState records only what you enter or explicitly confirm. It does not independently observe ingestion or verify that a medication was taken.
The App uses local information only to provide the features you request, including to:
show medications, schedules, and doses that need attention;
derive and display certainty states for each scheduled dose or administration unit;
schedule and reconcile local reminders;
maintain an on-device history;
apply your privacy, haptic, and confirmation preferences;
create a history export when you request one; and
delete App Data and cancel App-owned reminders when you use the deletion controls.
The App does not use medication information for advertising, profiling, credit or insurance decisions, research, sale, or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
In the current release, the App does not transmit App Data to the Developer or to third-party partners for storage or access. In particular, the App does not include:
a DoseState account or login;
a DoseState cloud-sync or remote health-data service;
advertising or cross-app tracking technology;
an analytics SDK, remote telemetry, or an app-integrated crash-reporting service; or
a remote push-notification service for medication reminders.
DoseState does not sell or rent personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
Apple may separately process information about App Store downloads, purchases, diagnostics, or use under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Apple may provide developers with aggregated or privacy-protected App Store reports. Those systems do not give us access to your medication records.
If you allow notifications, DoseState asks iOS to schedule reminders locally on your device. The App does not use a remote push provider for these reminders.
You may choose Full, Generic, or Hidden notification privacy in DoseState. These settings control how much medication detail the App includes in reminder content. iOS ultimately controls notification delivery, previews, lock-screen visibility, and Focus settings. A person with access to your device or lock screen may be able to see notification content, depending on your choices and iOS settings.
You can deny or withdraw notification permission in iOS Settings and can change DoseState's notification privacy mode at any time. The App remains usable as a local record when notifications are unavailable. Opening, dismissing, or receiving a notification does not confirm that a dose was taken.
DoseState creates a history export only after you choose Export history. The export is generated locally as a PDF and presented through the iOS share sheet. You decide which app, service, person, printer, or storage location receives the export.
Once you share or save an export, the selected recipient or service controls that copy under its own privacy terms. The copy may be uploaded, backed up, forwarded, printed, or retained outside DoseState. Deleting App Data does not delete those external copies. Review the destination carefully before sharing health-related information.
DoseState uses temporary storage to prepare an export and is designed to delete the App-owned temporary file after the share attempt, including when sharing is cancelled or fails. A recipient-created or user-saved copy is outside DoseState's control.
The App does not send support requests automatically. If you contact the Developer by email, through a support page, or by another external channel, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, and attachments. Please do not include medication or other health details unless they are necessary for your request.
We use support information to answer your request, troubleshoot issues, secure the App, keep appropriate records, and comply with law. Depending on the context and your location, the legal basis may be your request or consent, a contract, our legitimate interests, or a legal obligation.
Email or support-page providers may process support information on our behalf or under their own terms, but they do not receive your on-device medication records from DoseState. We may disclose support information when law requires it or to protect users, the public, or our legal rights.
We keep support information only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes. You may request deletion using the contact in Section 14, subject to applicable exceptions.
App Data is stored in the App's private on-device database. DoseState is designed to use iOS application sandboxing and platform data-protection controls and to exclude its medication database from iCloud backup. No security measure or local storage system can guarantee absolute security.
Protect your device with a strong passcode, keep iOS updated, limit who can access your device, and use Generic or Hidden notification privacy when medication details should not appear on the lock screen. If you export data, protect the destination and any backups created by that destination.
Local App Data remains on your device until you change or delete it, use Delete all local data, or remove the App. The Delete all local data control is designed to remove medication records, schedules, history, saved health-related preferences, App-owned pending local notifications, and App-owned temporary export files where possible, and then return the App to onboarding.
Removing the App normally removes its local application container as part of iOS operation. iOS, device-management tools, or copies made outside the App may behave differently. DoseState cannot recall exports, screenshots, printouts, messages, files saved elsewhere, or copies retained by a share recipient.
Because the Developer does not receive your on-device App Data, we cannot retrieve, view, export, correct, or delete that local data for you. Use the controls in the App and on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information a controller holds, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
For on-device App Data, you can exercise practical control directly by reviewing or editing medication details, viewing history, exporting history, changing notification privacy, withdrawing notification permission in iOS Settings, or using Delete all local data. For information we actually hold outside the App, such as a support email, send a request to the contact in Section 14. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where law permits or requires it.
We do not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Your on-device App Data is not transferred to the Developer. Support information or an export sent to an external destination may be processed in another country. Where required, the responsible provider or controller must use an appropriate transfer mechanism and safeguards.
DoseState is a general-audience utility and is not directed or marketed to children. App Data remains on the device. A parent or guardian should supervise a minor's use, notification visibility, and exports. If a child sends personal information through an external support channel, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
We may update this Policy when the App, our practices, or legal requirements change. We will revise the effective date and publish the update through the App Store privacy-policy link and, where appropriate, within the App. We will provide notice or seek consent when law requires it.
