Kimberly Morrow Brock
Director/Lead Teacher
Opening her own school has been a lifelong dream of Kimberly. Since 1996 while she was a student at Harvard working on Ed.M. she has had aspirations of creating a school for students whose academic, cultural, and social-emotional needs are met.
Kimberly is an advocate, author, and educational leader with an innovative approach to serving the needs of students with Learning Disabilities with her unique gifts and talents.
Miss Kimberly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Morris Brown College in 1994 and a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1996. From 1996-2003, she taught Social Science in the states of Massachusetts, North Carolina and Georgia. It was while teaching Gifted students who were placed in her Honors class her first year as a classroom teacher in North Carolina when she began working with students with Learning Disabilities. Since then she's instilled in her students that having a Learning Disability or I.E.P. does not mean you are less than, instead it means you have access tools and resources to help you reach your goals.
In 2003, Miss Kimberly returned to her home state of California where she taught students at Bayside Community Day School. The students enrolled were receiving their last chance at a public school education. Many of the students struggled for years yet Miss Kimberly or as the students called her, Ms. Brock never allowed them to cheat themselves out of their education. She engaged them and empowered them to excel in not only her class but all of their classes. Failure was never an option. During this time she realized she could impact the lives of more students by becoming an administrator and working with classroom teachers, students and parents to help all students maximize their full potential. In 2008, she earned her Administrative Credential and was hired as an Assistant Principal at Apple Valley High School. She led a number of departments which included Social Science, Math, Science, Continuation Program and Special Education. However, It was the Continuation Program and Special Education Departments where she had the most impact on students and parents. In 2014 she was promoted to school site principal at the fledgling High Desert Premier Academy, a school which was recently placed on probation and in danger of losing its accreditation. However, she once again took on the mantra, "not on my watch", and re-branded the school and led the parents, students, and staff through a successful WASC Accreditation.
In addition, Miss Kimberly continues to hold a valid CA Single Subject teaching credential as well as a valid Administrative Services credential, holds memberships in the Morris Brown Alumni Association, Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., California Teachers Association, California African American Genealogical Association, and Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout her 25 year career in education, she is most proud of her work with parents and students, specifically those students with Learning Disabilities. Kimberly understands the best way to help students who learn differently is to use their interests as a catalyst. As a result, she creates personalized lessons for each of her students designed to get them interested in learning while sharpening their academic skills.
