We use the word "workshop" to describe all of the different types of formats to present Don't Waste It! Workshops may include:
Criteria I workshop (6+ hours). Visit the Workshop Resources page for details on an optional homework assignment to get 10 hours.
Presentation/training (1-5 hours, Criteria III Credit)
Overview presentation to a group (less than 1 hour)
Overview presentation or conference session (1 hour or less, Criteria III Credit)
Staff training
Integrated into college/university course
Co-facilitation is required for a full day workshop. This requirement results in a better workshop experience for the instructor and participants. Co-facilitators may be other Don't Waste It! facilitators or someone in the field you bring in as a content expert.
Find other Don't Waste It! facilitators. Contact Shannon Culpepper if you would like help finding a content expert in your area.
Chatham County can support each full day workshop up to $150. Other workshops may be supported at a lower amount depending on funding. This funding can be used for facilitator travel reimbursement, workshop materials, field trip costs, meals, etc.
The funding may be provided as a reimbursement (the facilitator's organization purchases the items initially) or Chatham County could pay for items directly. There is a place on the Workshop Proposal Form related to support.
With many Don't Waste It! facilitators across the state, the proposal form ensures workshops are not scheduled too close to each other, by date or location.
The Workshop Proposal Form should be completed at least two months prior to your proposed date to allow for time to market the workshop and properly manage registration.
Complete the Google Form when you are ready. The form cannot be saved to come back and complete later. If you would like to work on a draft of the proposal form, use this Word version. Download or make a copy to work on. Then transfer your responses into this Google Form when you are ready.
This form is used to collect information about your workshop. It will ask for feedback, photos, evaluation forms, expenses, and in-kind donations.
The Workshop Report Form should be completed within one month of your workshop.
This Google Form will allow you to save and come back to complete it later, so feel free to start working on it as you get the pieces together.
Use the evaluation form provided, so we can collect the same information across all workshops. If there are sections that don't apply to your workshop, have participants skip those. If you would like to edit the evaluation form, please contact Shannon Culpepper at shannon.culpepper@chathamcountync.gov
The form is anonymous. There are an electronic and printable version.
The printable version is one page, front and back. After the workshop, you will need to scan the evaluation forms in one document and share them in the Workshop Report Form.
The electronic version is a Google Form. You can share the link or put the QR code on your workshop agenda. Responses will be shared with the facilitators.
Many educators who participate in Don't Waste It! workshops will need a continuing education form. There are templates provided for those who need an EE Form for the North Carolina Environmental Education program or a continuing education form for another certification. In the Google Folder, you will find templates that have information filled out along with blank forms if you want to create your own.
Chatham County can support each full day workshop up to $150. Other workshops may be supported at a lower amount depending on funding. This funding can be used for facilitator travel reimbursement, workshop materials, field trip costs, meals, etc.
Indicate on your Workshop Proposal Form that funding is requested. If Chatham County can purchase the items directly, they will do so. For example, by ordering items online and having them shipped to you. Otherwise, you will have to pay for the items/service up front and Chatham County will provide reimbursement. Be sure to keep receipts.
Use the Reimbursement Invoice Template to submit your reimbursement. This invoice template is in view only mode, so you will need to make a copy or download it. Follow the instructions on the first sheet. Submit the completed invoice to Shannon at shannon.culpepper@chathamcountync.gov.
