I am a story-maker.
I know the elements and processes for making a good story.
It all begins with a story and stories start with words. A well crafted script that captures the right intent are like song lyrics that can be just as powerful as the melody.
Good stories are told with good visuals, whether video, graphics or pictures. Most of our information about something comes to us through our eyes.
Vivian Leigh's death scene in Psycho is more about the sound of the attack than the sight of it. Expertly used and placed sound should be both unnoticed and unforgettable.
Once a story idea has been conceived, this is the process that brings it to life.
What's the location? Is there power? Inside or outside? Is the script & storyboard ready? What about casting? The shooting schedule? Legalities? Setup & teardown? These are questions the producer asks as they gather resources the director needs.
This is the "Lights, Camera, Action" part. Here's where all the pieces the producer has wrangled come together for the director, who runs the shoot based on the script provided by the client. Directors manages project resources to make the client's vision real.
The planning is over. The shoot is over. Now, the editor takes the script and plugs in the director's raw sound & visuals to create a final product that mirrors what's in the client's mind. They may add special sound or visual effects as finishing touches.
