Reason it Sank: On route to Aeden from Umm Said (Mesaieed) when a fire broke out in the Engine room. Was abandoned by the crew and was towed for salvage. The fire eventually spread, and the salvage was abandoned with the Pericles eventually sinking.

Description of the Wreck: Wreck sank upside down - originally the ship was proud of the surface, but over time has settled into the seabed. Shallowest section is the stern keel and rudder in 8 meters of water, a 20-foot diameter 5 bladed prop is still in place, and magnificent on good viz, there is a very large scour on the stern section, and even bigger scour on the bow section. general depth are 24 meters - with the bow section, sunk into the sand
